About the host
Hosted by Susan and Jeff
We moved up to this beautiful area of New Hampshire in 2010 from Central Massachusetts to "live the dream" of owning a home in the mountain region of this state. We have always enjoyed sharing our home with others and this seemed like the perfect time to open up both of our properties to those wanting to get away from it all and share in the beauty and tranquility we've come to enjoy on a daily basis!
After marrying in Boston and living in Cambridge where we raised our two children for 13 years, we began to sense we needed to move to the suburbs to buy our own home and begin enjoying some peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
We lived in the Metrowest area for 5 years enjoying our first home, then moved to the Blackstone Valley where our children finished growing up, completing their high school education and then they went on to college. After living there for 16 years, we took the daring leap and headed north while we had the opportunity to enjoy living our dream.
After working in a couple of local schools here in N.H. and realizing we never wanted to go back to MA, we decided to permanently settle here by purchasing our home here on the Connecticut River. Now we have the best of both worlds and can not only enjoy this lovely home but can also escape to our "mountain house" as we affectionately call it, to enjoy living off the grid in a more rustic fashion.
My husband has always been the "wind beneath my wings" and even though a die-hard Bostonian, he was willing to head out on the adventure of his life when he married me. We have truly lived the dream here in beautiful New Hampshire, and now it's time to share this with others.
Thank you for inquiring into staying on one of these properties,
Sue

Why they chose this property
The Loft at River's Edge offers guests a unique opportunity to live on a secluded, beautiful, quiet property along the Connecticut River. The spacious 950 s.f. apartment is fully equipped with everything a guest needs to enjoy a comfortable, relaxing stay. The beautiful 6.5 acres are private and yet our guests have the opportunity to wander about and "lose themselves" on the beautiful grounds and gardens. The property also has easy access with a landing to launch the kayaks and canoes into the river. The river is a fun body of water to explore upstream towards the MacIndoe Falls or downstream to the public islands where guests can enjoy a picnic. In addition, many guests bring their fishing rods and take advantage of the abundance of fish in the river. Our location off of Rt 135 is between Littleton and Woodsville, NH where there are plenty of restaurants, entertainment, shops, and conveniences for our guests to enjoy.
What makes this property unique
The Loft at River's Edge is conveniently located between the towns of Littleton and Woodsville, where there's an abundance of quaint shops, Walmart, Shaw's groceries, gas stations, restaurants and many beautiful sights. The picturesque Woodsville-Bath covered walking bridge is 15 minutes away for our guests to enjoy! There's hiking up Black Mountain (Lime Kiln Rd. in Haverhill) with it's incredible views and you can explore the ruins of an old Lime Kiln that's fun to check out. There are plenty of restaurants in Woodsville and a couple of our favorites are Village Pizza and Sunny Garden (Chinese). Littleton is a 25 minute drive north up 135 and this good-sized town has plenty of charming shops in the downtown area as well as a Walmart, Home Depot & Lowes, TJ Maxx, restaurants, a nice covered bridge over the Ammonoosuc River and a suspension bridge that you can walk over for fun! Chutters is a candy store that boasts of the largest candy counter in the world! Modern Antiques is a favorite store which has lots of fun stuff from the 50's - 80's and it's a wonderful experience if you enjoyed living through that era. The Loft's property is located on the Vermont border so you can cross over the Connecticut River and explore the small towns along Rt. 5. Newbury, VT has a wonderful general store that has gifts, food, home made food and plenty more. Bradford, VT has an auction every Friday night at 6:30 p.m. at Ernie's Ely Commision Sales across from the Hungry Bear Restaurant & Kinney's drug store. Going to the auction is a wonderful place to experience good food and fun times!! You can view the items to be auctioned off online the day before. Biking and hiking in the area is fun, too, but the property is best known for the easy-access into the Connecticut River and we have kayaks and canoes for our guests to enjoy free of charge! This is a perfect location for so many other activities not listed here and we look forward to hosting you!!
