We love this area. There are incredible views throughout the house, and it's located on a private dead end road in Sugar Hill, NH, right in the white mountains. During this time of year, the house is in the center of great outdoors activities - Franconia Notch State Park, hiking trails, and swimming at Echo Lake are all nearby....and great restaurants. The house has two floors, not including the basement - the downstairs has an open kitchen/living room set up as the main sitting area. There is a wall of 10 windows opening out to the mountain view and the deck. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, coffee maker, all appliances, all silverware and glassware and plates and cooking items. On the main floor there is also a den with a TV with satellite cable, internet, a full bathroom and a mudroom and washer/dryer. Upstairs there are three bedrooms and another full bathroom. The house is great for people who want to go outside all day for activities and then come back to a quiet setting with a great view to unwind, have a glass of wine or beer and make dinner. Or you could simply relax and stare at the view all day. The main reasons we love this area are: there are hiking trails throughout Franconia Notch State park, and also local off the beaten path, walking trails. Cannon Mt is a short 15 min drive away, Bretton Woods and the Mt. Washington Lodge are only about 30-35 min away for all kinds of adventures. In terms of nearby restaurants there are great options for soup and sandwiches at Wendles in Franconia, Polly's Pancakes is a local favorite which has been completely re-done, The Horse and Hound has re-opened their doors for a really nice dinner, Baliwicks offers great dinner in Littleton, north of our place and a local brewery, Schilling, has opened up in Littleton for great pizza, salads and great brews. There are many other great options for food, drink and shopping for antiques. For clothes shopping, Garnet Hill offers great discounts on clothing right next to Wendles in Franconia. We got married in Sugar Hill and have loved the area for years and years. We hope you stay. - John, Katie and Ben

About John Maycock
My wife and I got married in Sugar Hill, grew up loving the mountains and want to be able to share this home with people. It's a special place for the two of us and our son.
John Maycock purchased this House in 2008
What makes this House unique
We love the private, dead end road which makes the location very quiet and peaceful. It's a great place to get away from it all. We could literally sit on the couch staring at the view all day.

Well kept, beautiful location, and helpful host
Amazing views, well stocked home, perfect for our winter ski weekend!
What a beautiful vacation rental this is! The pictures really don't do this home justice. The kitchen /living room is wide open and nice and bright....plenty of room and a breathtaking view! It was in a quiet location that was very peaceful and we would definitely consider staying here again. The only thing we thought could use a bit of attention is that one of the beds could really use a mattress upgrade. All in all, a great place!
Beautiful property, great view, convenient location yet private. Great for families.
Excellent stay & the deck allowed for the best stargazing I have ever seen!
The owner was absolutely fantastic. Everything was a breeze from the very beginning. The owner even installed Wi-Fi ahead of our visit once I mentioned this could be a problem for my very Wi-Fi addicted teens!
The house was fabulous with expansive mountain views. The first two nights we were there, the moon was nowhere to be seen and the night sky was as dark as I've ever seen it. We had the most amazing time stargazing at this property! It's remote enough to feel off the beaten path (birds chirping, leaves moving with the breeze - i.e. no car noises), but within a few minutes to Sugar Hill town center, perhaps 10 minutes to Franconia center and 18 to 20 to Littleton. It's a little farther to get to Bethlehem, but worth the trip on a Saturday since they have a nice local goods market (crafts, local meats, cheese, etc.).
The house is set up well with plenty of bedrooms and areas to sleep. My only note would be that you should plan to wake up with the sun. There are blinds in the rooms, but the sun rises directly on that side of the house and it gets nice and bright in the mornings.
Tip: Please make sure you print directions from the owner before you head up. We relied on GPS and it repeatedly tried to make us turn right (into someone's property) where we should have been turning left. Print the owner's instructions and a google map image before you go and you'll be all set.
Overall - great stay, great owner and a fabulous time.
John, Thanks for allowing us to enjoy some time at your house!
Incredible views of the mountains in this comfortable, well equipped home
The house had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. We appreciated the accurate information we received from the owner about the property and tips for making our time in the area great.
The property was amazing!
The property was beautiful and spacious! Right near so many outdoor activities! John was quick at responding and gave us a list of activities to do! The house has amazing views of the mountains! Despite have no wifi our phones (att and sprint) all worked perfect! The only downfall is we went when the snow was melting.. the road despite having 4 wheel drive was pretty tough and almost got stuck!
The area is surrounded by great restaurants, great outdoors activities and has a beautiful veiw right out the windows of the mountains. For activities the area is one of New England's best for fall foliage. There are hiking trails throughout Franconia Notch State park, and also local off the beaten path, walking trails. In the winter, Cannon Mt is a short 15 min drive away, cross country skiing, ice skating and sledding are all a short trip out the front door. In terms of restaurants there are great options for soup and sandwiches at Wendles in Franconia, Polly's Pancakes is a local favorite, The Horse and Hound has re-opened their doors for a really nice dinner, Baliwicks offers great dinner in Littleton, north of our place and a local brewery, Schillings, has opened up in Littleton as well. For shopping, Garnet Hill offers great discounts on clothing right next to Wendles in Franconia.
