Fantastic property. Everything you need, fantastic firepit area, comfortable home tastefully decorated with beautiful antiques. Peaceful and quiet in the mountains, and so close to Roanoke and all it has to offer.

Very clean and cozy, great kitchen and outdoor area. One bedroom had an amazing comfortable mattress. The twin bed mattresses were a little rough to sleep on, but other than that, I would absolutely stay there again.

This was a beautiful property, both inside and out. You get a wave of nostalgia when stepping in to this over a hundred year old home which has been meticulously renovated while keeping the original footprint. The grounds, which have a stream and two ponds, are beautiful... and stocked with fish for a bit of fishing, but of course letting them go. The horses love coming for a visit and are extremely friendly and the acres of trails to hike are amazing. You will not be disappointed!!

REST and RELAXATION

Home is correct to the listing. Trails aren't easily notice and need groomed so we weren't able to experience them. Wifi and cell service was good dish tv wasn't. Enjoyed the property and area.Host was available.

VT Graduation weekend

Great property to host family visiting from out of town to attend our son's graduation at VT. The property was perfect for our needs and it was well equipped with many amenities in the kitchen and bathrooms. It is a house from the 1890s, that has been upgraded with all the modern conveniences. However, the decorations maintained the traditional feel of the 1800s. This is a vacation rental to stay and enjoy the beautiful surroundings, but not necessarily to be traveling at night or daily to Blacksburg, as the roads are narrow and the house is in a remote area up in the mountains. We certainly will consider renting it again for future vacations to stay for a few days and enjoy the warm feeling of a mountain retreat.

Spectacular Place to Stay

This is an absolutely gorgeous property. It's clear to see how much effort Robert has put into this home. It's a perfect balance of modern amenities while preserving the historic feel of the farmhouse. Robert was very attentive - making sure we had plenty of firewood, and very easy to communicate with. I will be recommending this property to anyone staying in the area in the future.

Beautiful Farmhouse

A beautiful getaway about a half hour from Roanoke College stayed for graduation and had a wonderful experience. The property is beautiful as the house. You will not be disappointed. My only warning is at the drive up the mountain is pretty steep and windy.

2nd girls weekend

This was our second stay here and we love it! So peaceful,comfy beds and home with great updated features while maintaining the charm of the home. Recommend putting Treehouse Tavern as your destination and then adding home address from there because otherwise it might take you a different route with a steeper drive.

Not what we expected

Owner told us vrbo $ was wrong and we owed him more $ upon arrival. Advertised sleeps 6; however, extra charge over 4. Second shower did not work even after getting additional instruction on how to turn on. Had to drive more than a mile up a gravel mountain road to get to property after driving up a very windy paved road for several miles. House was beautifully renovated and very tastefully decorated. Beds were comfortable. Quiet, isolated, and not great WiFi. If you want solitude in a beautiful house with surrounding woods on top of a mountain, go for it - just be sure to stop at Kroger's first.

Beautiful farm house with a lovey view

The turn of the century farm house is perfect blend of old and new. It has everything you need plus a lovey view with privacy. If you need to get away this is a great choice.

Beautiful place

Very enjoyable stay in a beautiful restored farmhouse with modern kitchen and bathrooms. Lots of views, hiking trails, ponds and streams. Morning coffee overlooking horse pasture and other wildlife. Short drive to Roanoke, Floyd and blue ridge parkway. Quiet and peaceful, Jim was an awesome host.

Amazing getaway at Sugar Camp Farmhouse!

Great weekend getaway in the mountains! Beautiful farmhouse nestled in the mountains on a working farm. Woke up to horses grazing in the pasture! Farm has different trails if you enjoy hiking. Close to Roanoke for food, shops, and farmer’s markets. Property has a fire pit which was perfect for late November stargazing and s’mores. Highly recommend! This was the perfect backdrop for a cozy girls weekend.

Friend getaway

We had a great stay at Jim’s. The photos don’t do it justice. Such a great mix of old and new with updated plumbing and kitchen fixtures. We loved reading the history of the home and the renovations. The road to the house isn’t for the faint of heart but we did discover there is a second route that wasn’t as steep. We look forward to staying here again!

Farmhouse in Bent Mountain

This property is beautiful! The grounds are serene and well tended with an old home place feel; yet you get to enjoy every modern amenity inside. It was immaculately clean and well stocked with everything you could need. Linens were plush and cozy. Antiques in every room made it feel like you were visiting your grandmother! You could just feel the history and memories that were made in this home. The host didn't miss and thing and was very helpful and responsive. Would definitely recommend!!
