About Bill Michels

We are a Twin Cities architect and artist who are always thrilled to spend family time in Duluth. The House and Cottage on Park Point is our little place away from home to do that. We have enjoyed remodeling and updating the house and cottage and turning it into a comfortable home with a relaxing livable atmosphere. It's given us the opportunity to do something a little different that we can share with everyone else.

Bill Michels purchased this house in 2005

Why Bill Michels chose Duluth

The beach is like nothing else in this part of the country, it's like being at the ocean. The water is warm enough to swim in, you can walk forever, and the infamous MN mosquito's are practically non existent because of the breezes off the lake. It's certainly a bonus to be a 15 minute walk down the beach to Canal Park or a short drive to the North Shore of Lake Superior.

What makes this house unique

We are just a bit unique in that there are two units we rent together. Put the kids in one or even grandma if she prefers to have her own quarters. Sometimes it's just a fight to see who gets the cottage!

And of course the location- beach, Canal Park, Lake Superior, the North Shore, restaurants...!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hey Bill,Just wanted to let you know....Anyhow that is a gorgeous place, it was the coolest design and decorating, I fell in love with it. I just wanted you to know that you did an excellent job, I felt like it was from a magazine. Thank you for letting us stay in your rental and for letting us bring our pets. We had a great time, and will tell everyone about the greatest place in Duluth. Thanks again.Megan

Great weekend getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Great rental for a big group. We really enjoyed the space, especially the big table where we played games for hours. The house had everything we needed. I would recommend this rental. We hope to come back during the summer!

Great location, roomy, and good communication!

  • 5 of 5

Really good communication from the hosts made it easy to stay here. Plenty of space for people to sleep (in 2 separate buildings), and easy walk to the beach!

Cozy, quirky house and cabin

Worked out really well for us for a multi-generational family trip. Lots of space. Would stay there again, without question.

Great escape close to Canal Park

  • 5 of 5

We had a great experience. The house and cottage were in excellent shape and provided plenty of space for a large group. We really enjoyed the fire ring and the ability to walk to the beach, which is directly behind the property. The place is just a short walk from Vikre, a craft distillery, and several other locations in the Canal Park area.

Beds were comfortable, bathrooms were beautiful, and the kitchen was great for a group that likes to cook and enjoy good food. If it's available the next time we're in town, we'll be back!

Owner's Response: Thank you and please come back! We have a lot of repeat guests who do not comment, I think they're afraid that if the word gets out there will be too much competition, we have plenty of dates available, although the summer could be longer!

a cozy home by the shore with room for multiple families

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed the natural warmth created inside the house and cabin. With 2 families and 3 kids we all had plenty of room to be together and also let the kids have their needed quiet time too. We found the property on a list of dog friendly places in Duluth, let's not forget about our two dogs and how they enjoyed the fresh air too.
