About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 8-9)

Enjoy your vacation in a beautiful historic house located in the heart of the Berkshires. Located two and a quarter hours north of New York City, this circa-1770s center chimney colonial will charm and delight your family and guests. 88 acres of land with views of Mt. Washington and Mount Everett promises privacy, peace and quiet. Search 'Berkshire Winter Rental' on Vimeo to see a winter video of the house.

With 3100 sq. ft of wood floors and elegant decor, this spacious house was renovated with two additions: sunroom with master bedroom above, and the gourmet kitchen. The original portion of the house includes a den with fireplace and 42" plasma tv with satellite surround sound home theater system. Built-in bookshelves have loads of great reading and an eclectic DVD library that should have something for everyone. The Parlor is a wood-paneled room with wood-burning stove and door opening up to a small deck with adirondack chairs for lounging. This is a great room for entertaining. Connecting to the parlor is the traditional dining room which has a table that can seat 10 and a fireplace.

In the Master Suite, wake up to beautiful mountain views particularly spectacular during fall foliage season, and go to bed relaxed after taking a soak in the private master bath jacuzzi. Ethics Supply Co. bath products and candles along with luxurious bath robes complete the experience. Vaulted ceilings, cherry hardwood floors, and walk-around deck make this room a relaxing retreat. All bedrooms feature down comforters, high thread count sheets and fans. All bathrooms feature hair dryers, robes, plush towels, body soaps, R&Co Shampoo and Conditioner and Kiehl's Shower Gel.

Bedrooms: In addition to the spacious master, there are three guestrooms with great architectural details like original wood beams and hardwood floors. The upstairs landing with skylights and gas stove features a day bed perfect for reading in the afternoon.

Kitchen: The gourmet kitchen features top-notch equipment like a WOLF eight-burner stove and Subzero refrigerator and is fully-stocked with cookware, utensils, barware, dishware and other essential cooking tools. Hook up your IPod to the kitchen stereo system and whistle while you cook! A secondary kitchen with another refrigerator makes entertaining for larger groups easy.

Flower gardens are in abundance and you will be enticed to the hammock to unwind and soak in the incredible mountain views. After playing a round of tennis on the clay court, enjoy a glass of iced-tea on the outdoor porch furniture at the tennis house bar. Or plan your summer bbq with friends and family gathered around the teak patio furniture with umbrella.

Other amenities include: walking trails, tennis court, two fireplaces, wood-burning stove, gas stove, air conditioning in the tv room, master suite, sunroom, and kitchen. WI-FI, cable HDTV, DVD, VCR, stereo, CDs, Jacuzzi tub, microwave, dishwasher, linens, washer/dryer, and three-story, two-car garage and ping-pong game room on the 2nd story. In the garage, find three bikes, and loads of outdoor games like bocce, croquet, corn hole, badminton, and more. A kids' out door playhouse and secret playroom in the twin bedroom are great places for the little ones to play.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We recently stayed at August Moon and had a wonderful weekend in the Berkshires! It could not have been easier to arrive with two toddlers to a house that was already equipped for young children. It made the weekend so much more relaxing. The house is warm and inviting, Jill was a pleasure to communicate with, and we would recommend August Moon to anyone looking for an escape from the city with their children (or without) in tow!

Magical Weekend

  • 5 of 5

August Moon is truly an incredible place. It's the only home I've ever found in The Berkshires that has walking trails, a fire pit, tennis court, impeccable style and a truly magical feel to it. The house itself is a gorgeous blend of modern and antique. Comfortable and beautiful. The grounds are gorgeous and seem to go on forever. The area itself couldn't be better and is in close proximity to great activities, food, shopping, and so many wonderful parts of the Berkshires. My friends and I watched movies, went hiking (on the property as well as around the corner on a trail that took us to a waterfall!), had a fire in the fire pit, made dinner in the gorgeous and massive kitchen, drove down the street to Big Elm Brewery for a tasting, went antiquing on our short drive to Great Barrington where we had lunch at Prairie Whale, bought bread to take home at Berkshire Mountain Bakery, and even went out to the dream away lodge in Becket for our annual magical experience (check it out!). I've stayed in the berkshires many times and this is by far the most amazing property I've ever had the pleasure of staying at. Look no further, you've found the perfect house!

Fabulous Thanksgiving weekend!

  • 5 of 5

August Moon is the perfect blend of up to the minute technology and country comfort in a wonderful inviting space that is perfect for everyone. The acreage provides a beautiful, private setting and mountain views within a few minutes drive to exceptionally good restaurants (especially Patisserie Lenox), a movie theatre and unique shopping. The house is lovely, clean, well maintained, the beds are so comfortable, the kitchen is fully equipped and the music collection is amazing. The property is exactly as described but better. It's close to hiking trails, historic sites and

antique shops.

Perfect and Peaceful Getaway from NYC!

  • 5 of 5

August Moon is exactly what we needed to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. We spent a long quiet weekend with our dog and loved everything. The sprawling property and beautiful home made it extremely welcoming. The mountain view was incredible and the sounds of the leaves falling from the trees was an added bonus. We will definitely be back and highly recommend it. The house has everything you could possibly want including comfortable guest robes in the master bath!

Idyllic setting for a country wedding

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I are lucky enough to have a weekend house in Sheffield, not far from August Moon, and when we got engaged we knew we wanted to get married in the area. We explored more traditional venues, but when I stumbled across August Moon we knew it was the perfect venue for us. I'd noticed the house from the road before but had no idea how gorgeous the grounds are and how nice the house is, and huge!

My family stayed on the property for the long weekend of our wedding and loved hanging out there. The decor is impeccable, but in a comfortable way that everyone could enjoy. I loved the color throughout the house - gorgeous rugs and linens, neon accents, interesting antiques and art. It was a great home base of us.

For the wedding itself we took full advantage of the property with a ceremony in a back field, cocktail hour surrounded by goldenrod and pines, and our tent for dinner was set up near the tennis courts. We worked with the Heirloom Fire, a caterer that Jill and Trey recommend on their site, and they were incredible. Upbeat service, amazing food, and all the fire pits came in handy - it was a chilly night! The whole set up let us put together an event that felt uniquely 'us.'

Thanks Trey and Jill for sharing your home with us! See you in the neighborhood.

Wow. Where do I even begin?! AMAZING.

  • 5 of 5

There is truly no way for me to ever accurately convey how amazing this house, Jill & Trey, and the property are. My husband and I had the amazing pleasure to have our wedding here a little over two weeks ago and we couldn't have been happier. The house is absolutely STUNNING, the property is meticulously maintained, and Jill and Trey are just the most enjoyable hosts to interact with.

The house itself is cozy and definitely has that home away from home feel, beautifully designed, and not only come stocked with all the necessities, but also lovely extra touches like extremely cozy robes, and literally the most comfortable sheets I have ever had the pleasure of sleeping on (seriously, I took a picture of the tag).

The surrounding property is beautiful and offers so much room for a large group to roam and do their own thing, not to mention the PERFECT setting for a wedding! Jill and Trey were so flexible and accommodating, and because of that I was truly able to make my wedding be the upscale backyard wedding of my dreams. They were able to offer so many tips, recommendations, and ideas that were all truly indispensable and only added to the perfect Wedding A-team I ended up working with (almost 100% all recommended by Jill!!).

I would recommend this property to literally anyone, for any reason, for any time that you be considering a stay in the area. There is nothing like being surrounded by the Berkshires, with your closest friends/family, in a stunning house. The pictures truly do not lie, I can 100% confidently say you will be happy if you stay here! We will DEFINITELY be staying at the August Moon house again.

Beautiful home ideal for toddlers

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this home during the beautiful Fall in New England. We have stayed at a lot of vacation houses, but I have never seen one better equipped for a family that loves cooking, music, and outdoor play. Our almost 2 year old was entertained the entire time by the seemingly never-ending collection of trains and other toys. The tennis courts were a real treat for the adults.

The owner was quick to respond to messages before and during our visit. She also very kindly refunded my initial deposit when I needed to change the dates of our stay. I cannot recommend this property highly enough.
