This property was originally owned by the lake's namesake, Norman Cocke, back when the lake was built in the 1960s. Since my family has owned it, it has been the location for family vacations, events, weddings, and more. The space is a ranch style home that has been enjoyed for many years. It has water on 3 sides, with a beautiful panoramic view of Lake Norman. It is situated on 2.5 areas for maximum privacy.

About Martha Wilcox
My name is Marty, and I am from West Virginia but made Lake Norman my home Summer 2015. I manage the 2 rentals on the property for my family, and live in between the homes with my Beagle mix in a detached garage apartment. I have been doing Vacation Rentals since I have moved here. I am also a licensed real estate agent for the area. If you are potentially interested in residing in the area please do not hesitate contacting me for more local information!
Martha Wilcox purchased this House in 2000
Why Martha Wilcox chose Denver
This house was originally owned by the lakes namesake and designer, Norman Cocke. He chose this property because he believed it was the best on the lake. The house has been added onto and renovated throughout the years, but it still holds a lot of history. My family has owned it since 2000, and it has always been our get away vacation spot from WV. It has an abundance of land and fun to be had.
What makes this House unique
The house has a panoramic view of the lake and can entertain your whole family. The house comes with a propane grill, corn hole boards, a fire pit, and a basketball hoop. Upon availability, I also rent out my pontoon boat, paddle boards, and kayaks

Spacious house with beautiful waterfront property.
Marty was a great host and the property was perfect for our family. It was nice to have all of the extra beach towels and we really enjoyed being able to rent the pontoon and kayaks.
Stunning, resort like property
We had a family reunion of 23 people and they all stayed at 2 rental homes on lake norman - this one by far was our favorite! The views are spectacular and the cove is very quiet - great for the little ones to paddle and float around with no worries. We rented jet skis and were able to keep them at the dock along with our boat. Everything you need is there and Marty was available to us if we needed anything or had any questions. Our family is already planning next years visit! Highly recommend this property! Thank you Marty!!!!
Great Location. Great Property Owner
There were 11 of us, all adults, that stayed in the house, and there was plenty of room for us all. No feeling of being crowded. It is in a great spot at the end of one of the fingers stretching into Lake Norman. Very relaxing views and a large property. . Beds and linens were comfortable. There was a good amount of towels and kitchen utensils/dishes/pans and items generously left by previous guests. We had access to a pontoon boat, which worked fine, but could probably use some updating and cleaning. As a suggestion, maybe a few more outside lawn chairs and maybe some seating for the gazebo. Marty Wilcox was terrific. Any time we had a little problem, or a request, or needed information, she was very accessible and very responsive. She made us feel welcome as her guests. There is no reason we wouldn't return, if the opportunity comes around again. We had a great vacation together at this spot. Thanks to Marty Kay for making this available and enjoyable.
Our family had a wonderful time! Thank you!
Beautiful Views of a Beautiful Property
We had a wonderful time at this property. The front is a bit unassuming, but once one walks inside, the spaces and views are very impressive! We all had a very comfortable stay. Added bonus was the surprising amount of kitchen inventory that (we assume) had aggregated across the last couple of guests. While there are several stores within a very close distance to resupply, we needed even less because of what the necessities that were already covered.
We were among a group that rented a total of 3 properties, 2 of which were located closer to Lake Norman State Park. This property, by far, had the best outdoor spaces and views. Very happy with our rental.
-Kitchen appliances are a bit dated, but certainly still functional.
-Coffee Maker had a broken switch. Took some persistence to get the switch to work with us.
We rate it 4/5 stars only because cooking in the kitchen is such a big part of our family gatherings. Otherwise, it is a 5/5 space for sure. Would absolutely recommend a stay.
The perfect location for our family get together! The property is absolutely gorgeous & the home offers plenty of space to spread the family out. Marty was fantastic too! We will definitely be returning in the near future. Thanks Marty!
