Overview

About the property

6 Bedrooms, 7 Bathrooms, Sleeps 16 Comfortably

God's Country Lodge is just the site for your next family, church, executive, or hunting retreat. Located in the center of the 'western slope' of Colorado, this remote retreat is for guests who want to 'get away from it all.'

This rustic-elegant and spacious vacation lodge on 40 private acres of pinion and juniper trees is situated just outside of Crawford Colorado, with breath-taking views of the West Elk Wilderness Mountain range, the Needle Rock (a 700-ft. volcanic monolith) and Grand Mesa. The entrance to the north rim of the beautiful Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is 3 miles away.

This 6,000 square foot, two-story lodge features two kitchens (one is fully equipped), a great room, a recreation room, seven bathrooms, and six bedrooms. Extra features include a huge fireplace, wet bar, two TVs, wireless internet, pool table, gas barbeque and a steam room. The taxidermy mounts (bear, deer, elk, beaver, turkey, etc.) and the unique woods throughout promote a Colorado high-country ambiance.

Activities in the nearby vicinity are hiking, hunting, lake and stream fishing, wine tasting, and horseback riding -- however, God's Country Lodge is so peaceful that you might not want to leave!

Better than you can imagine

  • 5 of 5

To say it's a beautiful home is just not descriptive enough! Perfect for a large group. There is plenty of space. Our family thoroughly enjoyed the long weekend we had together. We found the pricing to be very reasonable for everything that was included.

BEAUTIFUL! Highly recommend. Worth every penny!

  • 5 of 5

We LOVED this house! The home looks just like the pictures. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The bathrooms were great - many with double shower heads. The kitchen was well stocked (we really love cooking with cast iron and were so excited to see some great pans to use). Honestly it had everything. We watched the sunrise on the deck, enjoyed walking through the land and made many memories playing with the kids in the rec room.

We are a family of 8 and had TONS of space. The home would very comfortably fit very large groups. The layout and size is so nice that guests could wake up at different times, be showering, making breakfast, watching tv (etc, etc) and not disturb each other.

Highly recommend this house. If we ever traveled to Crawford again we'd totally stay here. 5 stars!

Gorgeous, clean, spacious house, exactly as advertised

  • 5 of 5

After renting several VRBO properties, we have learned that the owners (understandably) put the best face on a property. We typically take the photos and descriptions with a grain of salt. While all of our vacations have been really enjoyable, we have never stayed in a property that is as clean, updated, and well-maintained as this one. The pictures don't exaggerate. If anything, they are under-stated. This place is huge, and it is gorgeous. We had a wonderful time in the surrounding area, picnicking at the Black Canyon, fishing at Crawford Reservoir, having a family pool tournament, Jeeping, going on drives to see literally dozens of deer at dusk, and sharing several fun meals prepared in the well-stocked kitchen. Renters before us had obviously done their shopping before arriving to find basic kitchen supplies, then had left behind their extras, so there were a ton of spices, plastic zip-top bags, condiments, canned goods, etc. We had forgotten a few things, but there was a small general store about 15 minutes away that was very handy for such purchases. The only small issues that we experienced were a few warped boards on the deck that presented a tripping hazard, and several annoying flies that got in as people were going in and out. There must be lots of flies in the area this time of year. (After dealing with chiggers in Texas, however, that was very minor by comparison lol.) It's a hunting lodge with lots of taxidermy in a rural area. If that's the type of house you are looking for, you can't go wrong with this huge, gorgeous place!

Great Place to Relax and Enjoy Some Time-Away

  • 5 of 5

A group of 10 of us rode out to God's Country on motorcycles from Denver and stayed for three nights. Great place to put our feet up and relax and do day rides out of this location into SW Colorado. Gorgeous sunsets from the deck and plenty of room for 10 of us to relax, play, and sleep. We will definitely consider coming back to God's Country in the future!
