Private Island...A Fishermans Paradise! Time To Kick Back, Relax, And Get Unplugged!!! Please be aware that this is a boat access only island! Located in the beautiful backwaters of Ozello, Florida. The land of a thousand islands. Come experience some of Florida's best backwater fishing with thousands of mangrove islands to explore. Whether by motor boat, (shallow draft only),kayak, or canoe it is fishing at its finest. Please be aware that these waters are quite shallow and channels are not marked so there is a lot of exploring you can do but it must be done with caution. On any day you could be catching everything from snook, redfish to trout, with the occasional flounder and sheepshead. Access to the Gulf of Mexico in minutes for some inshore or offshore fishing, where you are likely to catch grouper, cobia, or even the King of fish, the tarpon! .And lets not forget scalloping when in season. We here in citrus county have some of the most plentiful scallop grounds in the state. Or maybe you just want to take a cruise to see some of the most beautiful sunsets on the nature coast. The Island house offers you this and much more. You can even catch your own blue crab right off the dock or the shoreline.
Please be aware that this is a boat or watercraft vessel access only Island. There is no other access unless you care to take a swim! Hahaha! Free county boat launch available within minutes of the Island at Ozello community park, this is where you will park your vehicles during your stay. All vacationers will be escorted to the Island for the first trip so that you will know the track to get there and back again. After a short ride you will moor up at the dock and walk up the path to the house. The stairway carries you to the open deck that is perfect for grilling out, sunbathing, or just having a cup of coffee and watching the sunrise. The deck wraps around the front of the house so you may also relax after a long day and enjoy a nice ice cold beverage and listen to some music on the stereo. While enjoying the beautiful scenery that makes up Ozello. While relaxing on the deck be sure to be on the look out for manatees and dolphin. On almost any given day the dolphin can be seen schooling or just playing around.
Enter the double doors to take you inside to the cozy living room where you can just kick back and relax in the air conditioning Although there is a television there is no cable, therefore no wifi, hence getting unplugged. You will have cell service so calls can be made but watch out for that data usage. There is an antenna and it picks up plenty of stations to watch also a DVD player if you want to bring movies. The kitchen is fully stocked and should have all the equipment you should need for preparing meals. There are two bedrooms one king and one queen that each have their own heat and air units. There is one bathroom with tub and wraparound shower. Upstairs is the loft where we have a daybed with a trundle for two sleeping spaces. Also a rocker if you would like to just kick back and read a book in the quiet of the loft.
Ground level we have a small fire pit for those who like to have a small campfire weather permitting. Firewood available in the woodpile. Also we have a 20x20 metal canopy with a picnic table that provides shade while you enjoy a picnic lunch.
No boat? No problem. We have partnered up with a local boat captain who would love to take you fishing for an additional cost.
So come enjoy paradise and make your own memories.

Great views and close to the gulf. The couple that guided me to the house the first time were extremely informative and helpful!
Wonderful private island retreat! Far enough to be private but close enough to be convenient!
Spent 3 nights in this house with several friends and we had an amazing weekend. Diane and Capt. Jorn were both fantastic in helping us prepare before the trip and then getting us situated upon arrival.
When we first arrived on Thursday Capt. Jorn met some of us at the boat ramp and helped haul us and our stuff (mostly beer) to the house on his boat, all the while making sure to give us navigational tips for the weekend. If you have never taken a boat out in this part of the State, you should know that there are NO markers and local knowledge is a premium. Thanks to Jorn, our props and lowers made it through the weekend largely unscathed!
Once we were situated on the island Capt. Jorn took us out for a quick cruise and showed us the "main channel" to get out to the Gulf and gave us a few pointers on fishing spots and techniques along the way. Capt. Jorn was even nice enough to give us permission to collect some bait from his pinfish trap if we needed which was a big help when the fishing slowed down in mid-day. The ride to the house is only a couple minutes but it's not a straight shot so unless you arrive at a real high tide, I would strongly suggest following a boat or letting Jorn and Diane show you the way.
The house was fantastic and really had pretty much everything we needed. The kitchen was stocked with everything necessary if you wanted to cook indoors but because we had such nice weather we primarily cooked on the gas grill outside. We did use the stove one night to fry up a whole mess of trout we caught a stones throw from the house and like I mentioned, everything we needed was there. The bedrooms both have their own AC units that blow ice cold and the beds were extremely comfortable. Even the two upstairs beds were fantastic with comfortable mattresses and nice linens (although the stair case can be a little treacherous if you have had a few too many).
We spent the weekend on two skiffs and mostly fished very shallow water. When exploring new areas we took our time and motored slowly because the bottom can sneak up very quickly. The horror stories about prop/boat damage could come true if you were flying around at full speed, but the area was so beautiful we had no problem taking our time and taking it all in. Also, you don't need to go far to find fish. We were sight fishing large reds and snook within a 1/4 mile of the house.
All together, it was an amazing weekend and I highly recommend this house. Can't wait to get back!
Amazing Easter weekend for us all!
Diane’s attention to detail made the stay very comfy cozy for us all and Captain Jorn was accommodating beyond all expectations! We will definitely be back to create some more fishing family memories ❤️
Loved the house! Clean and comfortable! Diane and Jorn were awesome and Jorn even showed my boys how to filet some trout he gave us. The only issue is the tide. We have a poontoon boat and got stuck in the shallow low tides. I recommend researching the tides in the time of year you visit.
We enjoyed our stay. Diane and Jorn were amazing hosts and were very helpful. We caught Fishes and blue crabs and our kids loved every moment of it. God willing, we will be back someday.
A weekend of adventure with a mixture of activity and relaxing quietness. The kitchen is well stocked for meal preparation. The beds are very comfortable and all is very clean and neat. The view is spectacular from the deck and the sunrises/sunsets are amazing. For those without a boat, I would highly recommend Captain Jorn! ( Ask the owner for further details!) We spent a great day on the water fishing, spotting manatee, a sea turtle and pods of dolphin. There was an overabundance of no-see-um's which prevented us from being outside from late afternoon until mid-morning, so don't forget to take along indoor activities such as books, DVD's or board games! (Our teenage son was not thrilled about the "no Wi-Fi" either!) Overall, a fun weekend and exceptional hospitality from Diane and her husband!
