Bootham Row 1 - a couples retreat that sleeps 2 guests in 1 bedroom

A neatly furnished and well presented 1 bedroom property just a short walk from everything you could wish to see and do in York.

The apartment is set on the ground floor of the Bootham Row building and benefits from its own private entrance. Upon entering you are greeted by the open plan living and kitchen area. The lounge features an LCD Smart TV and comfortable sofa. The kitchen has all the appliances you'd expect to find in a holiday let such as a dishwasher, washer/dryer and coffee machine for your convenience. Just off the kitchen there are patio doors that open onto a small outdoor space. A bistro table and 2 chairs have been provided within the apartment should you wish to use them in the outside space.

The bedroom features a king size bed together with bedside tables, hanging rail and dresser. There is a spacious shower room just off the bedroom complete with very large walk in shower.

Unfortunately, parking is not included. However, there are two 24 hour paid parking options nearby: Margate Car Park, just a few minutes’ walk away and Bootham Row Car Park.

Great location and property, very central

Clean and comfortable stay at Bootham Row, great location minutes from central York. Better value and much more space than hotels at a similar price point or above. A few things could do with maintenance, such as the patio door is very hard to lock and the toilet seat needs refitting however overall a very nice place to stay.

5 weeks in York with no rain and 3 heatwaves!

Had an excellent stay here for 5 weeks. My only complaint, and it's a small one, is that the bedding was too hot because of the heatwaves and underfloor heating!!

Comfortable, clean and convenient

Great location for town centre and remarkably quiet. Very clean and tidy. Washing machine a bonus for those longer stays.

Location, location, location

We loved our stay!! Spectacular location, we walked to everything. The beds were the MOST comfortable. Clean, tidy and welcoming. Would definitely stay here again. Also, we had an issue with the lock at one point and customer service was very attentive, sending someone to help us immediately.

Amazing stay

I stayed at this property from September to November 2023, which was an excellent stay. So I booked here again without hesitation when came back to York. Great location with a nice and cosy room that made me feel at home.

Great place for couples, near to everything

We had a great time in this property, it was a short walk away from everything in York, and handy that there was a shop just on the corner of the street. It was clean, bed was comfortable, sofa was comfortable too. Had everything we needed for a long weekend away, and would definitely stay here again. We did have a slight issue with the WiFi which kept dropping out on the TV (although minor for us). Would be absolutely perfect if it had parking onsite, as we ended up paying ÂŁ75 in the Marygate public car park from Friday - Monday.

Modern comfort in a central location

Stayed for four nights in this modern one-bedroom apartment. The kitchenette was especially helpful. Very centrally located, a short walk from everything on old York. I appreciated the easy checkin and checkout procedures too. Would certainly consider staying again.

Perfectly located property

This was the second time my wife and myself have been to this holiday property. It is very well located close to all attractions and shopping shops and it was clean , tidy and well equipped. The customer service was exceptional.

Xmas market break

Easy to find very clear instructions for entry. Apartment was clean and well equipped had a slight problem with the door lock but someone was there within 5 minutes to sort it ( thank you Tom).

Veranda door that wouldn’t lock properly which left us vulnerable to anybody jumping over the wall to the apartment to rob us , also had a 26 day stay with the apartment only being cleaned once ( that was only after me complaining) had 2 bath towels & 2 hand towels for 26 days ENJOY as we didn’t get any results after our complaints offered £200 compensation which wasn’t compensation ,only refund as we didn’t get the cleaning services we paid for

A perfect home from home!

I spent 6 happy nights here, and it was splendid! A beautiful, stylish clean home base for my explorations of York. It was quiet and safe, convenient with a Sainsbury's a few feet from the door, and Bootham Bar was right around the corner-- you couldn't want a better location. I had everything I needed, including laundry facilities. A couple of suggestions: it was be nice if the owners provided a mini-bottle of shampoo and conditioner for guests to start out with on arrival. I know Sainsibury's is handy, but after a long day of travel, the last thing I wanted to do was go back out after unpacking. Small complaint I know, but it would a nice, easy touch of welcome. The bed-- though spotlessly clean-- was uncomfortable and cheap. It felt like sleeping on a marshmallow, and it was hard to roll over! The bedding was very cheap too. Decent pillows are essential: 4 pillows were much appreciated, but they were obviously from a Pound Shop. Those will age quickly. Please invest in good bedding. You have a wonderful place and the bed is letting it down. Also, you MUST use pillow protectors under the pillowcase as well as a mattress protector for your guests peace of mind. It's still clean... for now! But beds get used for more than sleeping. ;) I could also feel the unpleasantly rough surface of the mattress through the ill-fitting bottom sheet. I suggest a proper fitted sheet. Maybe Stays York should set that as a very basic set of standards for the owners of the flat's they use. I would stay again in a heartbeat if I knew the bed had been improved! Ruth Stratford, Ontario

Fantastic stay in York

Our stay was fantastic and we couldn't have asked for a better apartment! The location was perfect and right in the centre of York! The apartment was clean, comfortable, quiet, and secure. We stayed 2 nights and the price was actually a lot cheaper than some of the chain hotels! There is no parking included and you do have to pay for this separately but this definitely doesn't hinder the apartment. We'll definitely be back!
