This was a great spot for our girls weekend! We spent most of the time on the screened in porch and loved that the kitchen was big enough for us all to gather around. The house had more provisions than we thought would be there (some toilet paper, paper towels, etc). Overall, a great stay!
We enjoyed our stay. Erin was very responsive prior to and during our stay. The house has a beautiful view of the lake and housed our family for a great Memorial Day weekend.
We had 3 families together in the home and it was great! Plenty of room and amenities. We were also able to dock 3 boats and still have room for swimming/floating. Sadly we didnât take many photos,
Erin and Shawn are thoughtful hosts! Their home is lovely. They provide lots of floats, a lovely dock and a fire pit to fully enjoy the lake. The kitchen is well stocked. The porch overlooking the lake is a perfect start to the day with morning coffee. The beds are comfortable, and plenty of living space to spread out. While at the lake, there were a couple of times we reached out to Shawn and Erin, they responded very quickly. Fantastic hosts and a nice house. Our favorite activity was a sunset cruise with Captain Jack. Lake Gaston is a good place to vacation!
We had a great weekend and the house was perfect for two families. We had everything we needed to relax and enjoy the lake. Erin and Sean were perfect hosts.
Loved this rental! Great location in the cove. Easy to bring in another boat. At least 8ft off the end of the dock. Enjoyed our time outside and inside on the big screened in porch!
We had a wonderful time on our family vacation. Communication with Shawn and Erin was very good. The driveway is a bit steep and had a few issues getting up it but overall our annual trip to Lake Gaston was great.
Erin and Shawn Carter (owners) made us feel very welcome from our first communication. The house is beautiful and very user friendly. It has all the amenities we needed and was amazing overall. I highly recommend this lake house to anyone looking for a Lake Gaston getaway!
Had a great time at the lake, perfect spot to hang out with friends. Wifi/cell service isnât great out there so make sure to put the address in the gps early on.
My family and I spent Thanksgiving here and we really enjoyed our stay. The host got back to me quickly when I reached out to her on a minor issue. The view was amazing. The kitchen was fully stocked with plenty of pots and pans to prepare our meals. Cell service wasnât the best but we didnât mind because we kept ourselves busy playing pool and other games.
This was our first visit to Lake Gaston. The Golden Sunset Cottage was perfect for our vacation. The location was great being in the cove, set back in away from boat traffic and a nice spot for the kids to swim off the dock and fish. It was a short distance to the main part of the lake for boating. The house was perfect for our family group of 5 adults and 6 kids. The kitchen was well equipped for our needs. We all enjoyed the screened in porch and morning view of the lake. Communication with our hostess Erin was great! She was very responsive with any questions/concerns we had.
Beautiful home on Lake Gaston! The kitchen had everything youâd need and the home is nicely decorated and the beds were comfy. We didnât get to use the outdoor games or equipment due to the weather but it was well stocked. The only down side was that the Internet connection was a bit weak, but fortunately we were only there for a short time. The host was very quick to respond and helpful with any questions we had. Would stay there again!
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful lake front home during Memorial Day weekend. The owners are wonderful people who we got to meet during our stay. They made sure we had everything we needed and were readily available for any questions we had. The house came with kayaks and standup paddle boards for their guests to use. Love having these to explore the lake. The view from the house was gorgeous. The weather was a little chilly during our stay so the fire pit was a big hit. We had a great time and will definitely come back. Thank you again to the owners, Erin and Shawn, for a wonderful stay!
It was a great place to stay! It was clean and decorated very cute. It shows carpeting in the main living area but to our surprise they had brand new flooring all throughout, which was really nice.
The only downside to this property was the driveway for us. My parents, who are a bit older had some trouble loading and unloading. We had some concern about getting out of the driveway with our minivan because of how steep it was but other than that we enjoyed every part! We would definitely stay again. The owner was very helpful and got back to us immediately with any questions we had.
The house has a really nice dock and plenty of water toys. The house itself was unimpressive and irritating. Despite the high cleaning fee (250), and the long list of check-out chores (wash and put away all dishes, strip the beds, sweep AND take all trash OFF the property), we still stepped into a house that was not clean. The kitchen was well equipped, but cabinets were a disorganized jumble. There is no internet at this house. We got better connectivity in the middle of the lake. One member of our party missed an online test and had to drop the class. There was no television signal or access to streaming. Based on the check-in info, we had to bring a lot of basic supplies like trash bags, TP, soap and shampoo. We will not return.
My husband and I took our two teenage sons and eight of their friends to Lake Gaston for a week. We stayed in the Golden Sunset Cottage. There were 12 people and 2 dogs total. There was plenty of space for everyone. The boys loved hanging out on the dock, playing on the float pad, kayaking, swimming, and floating in the water. When inside, it was nice to have the downstairs space for the kids to hang out. The kitchen was well stocked, the beds were comfortable. No complaints from us! Our adventure with 10 teenagers was great. The boys wanted to know if we could come back later this summer. :)
We are a family of 5 with 2 beautiful Golden Retrievers! We have been coming to Lake Gaston for years and have loved watching our kids grow up with lake life! An opportunity arose in 2020 to purchase our neighborâs home and we jumped at the chance! We have been renovating this home and are finally ready to share this wonderful lake life with you!
