  • Exactly What You're Looking For!

"What type of vacation meets you needs? Do you want a private, peaceful retreat where you can focus on the deep blue sea? Are you adventurous and want to explore all that coastal Ecuador has to offer? Party animal? Foody? Yoga buff? All of these types of vacations (and more) can be found at Bob and Roxanne's lovely rental. My husband and I stayed in the Alta suite for two weeks in June. As previous reviewers have noted, the suite has all your needs. It is clean, well designed, and if you can pull yourself away from the perfect ocean view, cooking in the well stocked kitchen was a delight as we watched the spectacular sunsets each evening. The bed was comfortable, and we kept the windows constantly open to hear the crashing waves and feel the constant ocean breeze. We were never hot, and there were no bugs. The beach is clean, private and large. We walked every morning and usually saw only a handful of people on our walks. But the most important detail that is included in this vacation rental is the expertise and connection with Bob and Roxanne. They are both highly sensitive to your vacation needs. They seem to know when you need a ride somewhere, and can help you with taxis or buses, or when you may need to be left alone. They were so kind and their knowledge of Ecuador was invaluable to us. The minute I asked about where to purchase a panama hat for my husband, Bob immediately offered to take us to the next town the following day. Bill now has a snappy new panama hat! Montantita is a close walk and has many nice restaurants. We visited several coastal towns and enjoyed museums, aquariums, restaurants, and a tour package to Isla de la Plata. We actually got to see several whales on one of our tours and snorkled with sea turtles! The people of Ecuador were friendly and kind. Many tried to help us with our minimal knowledge of their language, and we got along fine with our broken Spanish. My husband and I always felt safe as we traveled around. We never saw any panhandlers or people who pushed you to buy their tourist treasures. The locals really appreciate your business. Whatever you are looking for in a vacation, staying with Bob and Roxanne is a great home base. Thanks to Bob and Roxanne's kind hospitality, we experienced the vacation of a lifetime. We will return to Ecuador again, and we will stay with Bob and Roxanne again as well."

  • A perfect home base on Santa Cruz!

"My husband and I, along with another couple, stayed four nights at the Torre Mar in late May of 2016. Donna and John were terrific from the first contact through finding us the best way back to the Baltra airport. They even arranged for our driver to stop at some of the attractions in the highlands on our way into Puerto Ayora! We found everything to be as advertised. We loved the rooftop terrace for grilling and dining on fresh local seafood or getting to socialize with some of the other guests in the evenings. The views were fantastic! We loved the central, neighborhood location. It was a short walk to Charles Darwin Avenue, a bakery, the Saturday market, the popular outdoor "restaurant street", and the head of the trail to Tortuga Bay! The truck-taxis are certainly abundant, but we enjoyed walking. The beds were very comfortable, and having separate remote controlled air conditioning for each bedroom was a definite plus. For two families with children, both second floor apartments would be a nice setup. We would definitely go back!"

  • Great Stay

"We would recommend this great home. Even though Vicky was not in Quito throughout our stay, she checked in and had others make sure our needs were met. The house has great views of the Valley de Los Chillos and an amazing yard filled with gardens and a large grass field, wonderful (and warm) pool, large patio with hammock and a covered gazebo with a ping pong table. The kids loved the pool and ping pong table and the yard for playing soccer and spent lots of time on the patio in the hammock. The house has everything you need with a full kitchen, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and two big entertaining areas (living room and sunroom). Cristina arrived every other day to help with the trash, bedding and general clean up and she was great. Two dogs on the property are friendly and the kids (initially apprehensive as we don't have dogs at home) grew to love them after a few days. The commute into Quito is an easy taxi ride ($15-$20) or a city bus ($0.50) after walking 6 blocks down a steep hill to a main intersection. We went into Quito frequently and it would take roughly 35-45 minutes by bus and then we would grab a taxi to get to the historic district or other destinations. Definitely not ideal if you want to be right in Quito but if you don't mind the commute and are looking for a compound to relax and avoid the urban hustle, this is a great option. Overall this was an ideal spot for us with young kids (Ages 4, 6 and 9)."

"Five os us really enjoyed the stay in this apartment. The view to Cotopaxi were great. It was nice to walk for breakfast at Cyrano. Taxis were nearby. Miguel was very helpful and provided for all our needs. We will love to come back again."
