My wife and I traveled to Santa Fe to celebrtae our 40th wedding anniversay. The Casita Nomad was a PERFECT place to stay...private, beautiful views and quiet but yet very close to the Plaza area and all of the things to see and do in Santa Fe. Others have made comments about entry door/lock being difficult to operate...not after first day and understanding the process. Kitchen is also WELL equipped and very acceptable to cook meals, etc. D/W would be nice to have:-). Be sure to eat at the Vanessie Restaurant, especially on Thursday nights, if you like great food and live jazz. Would seriously consider renting the Casita Nomad again on our next visit to Santa Fe which I thnk will be very soon.

Granted, we did pull in as 12:30 a.m. and it's best to have a GPS or Navigator driving in in the dark...it's really dark at night out of town. We did find the main house and tried our key # to get in the door and of course, it did not work. I thought it looked a bit larger than the description of the casita we had rented. We stumbled around the lot for a minute or two and finally decided to try the key# in the smaller unit beside the main house which is a bit hidden in the dark. We worked and worked with the lock and simply could not get the door opened. The large window beside the door just happened to be opened and my son crawled in and unlocked the door from the inside. He played around with the lock a few more times and figured out how to finagle it to work. The inside was beautiful, and very clean!! Everything we needed was there. I had brought extra towels, cooking pans and toilet paper just in case...but I didn't need to. It was all there. Everything was working great. We never did, however, figure out the entertainment system as far as the remote controls worked, but we manually turned on the TV and volumes, etc. Not a biggie though. Hot tub was great! I would highly recommend this unit and plan on renting from this group again in the future! P.S. I unfortunately called one of the contact people at 1 a.m. because we could not get in and I felt terrible for that. She called me back, but we apparently were asleep and I didn't hear my phone ring. Great communication with all the contact people as well. Denise

The casita nomad has many pluses. It was spotlessly clean upon our arrival and well-stocked with basic items: paper towels, toilet paper, adequate towels, soap for the washer and dryer, and an iron and ironing board. The bathroom even had World Food's brand shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. The two towels for the hot tub were a great addition. The wireless worked perfectly and the fans and bedroom air-conditioner cooled the casita down nicely. I appreciated that the blinds were drawn when we arrived to help cool the casita. We did not use the TV nor CD so I do not know if these were functioning. Despite the fact that I was assured that the kitchen had enough supplies to cook meals, I thought it was woefully inadequate. It would serve short term renters just fine if they ate out a lot, but we had a child with us and would have preferred a little more equipment...one teaspoon!! Missing parts to the garlic press and other annoyances. We had to call the agent for help in starting the outdoor grill. None of the yard lights worked which made using the hot tub at night a bit dangerous. Arriving home after dark was also a bit tricky going down the steps. Since we had read the reviews beforehand, I had brought along a small flashlight, but for safety reasons this should have been corrected after the first comment was registered on the reviews. The agent responded promptly for our request for lights but only two of the few outdoor path lights were corrected and the others remained unlit. The best part of the casita was the locate-only 4 miles from the Plaza and centrally located...a terrific spot that seemed isolated and remote. Very quiet.

We had a wonderful stay at the casita. It has an incredibly comfortable bed, wonderful HUGE bathroom, nice views, and extremely convenient location. As noted by others, it’s just far enough away from the noise and activity of downtown but close enough that you can be there in about 10 minutes. It’s also in an extremely central location to the town as a whole in case you want to go places other than downtown. The front door lock wasn’t that big of a deal if you follow the previous poster’s recommendation and pull the door when locking it. It may be difficult for people with arthritis though. Also, this is a casita (guest house) and you’re extremely close to the main house which you share the hot tub with. There wasn’t anyone in the main house the entire week we were there, but I’m sure this isn’t always the case. Not that you should be cooking while in Santa Fe because of all the fabulous places to eat, but if you were planning on it be warned that this kitchen is bare bones and would be extremely difficult to cook in. We had to make our limeade for our margaritas in a vase because they don’t even have a pitcher or similar container. Having said that, we managed simple breakfasts and packing lunches for hikes, but I can’t imagine trying to cook dinner here. Overall this is a very nice place in a wonderful location and I’ll probably stay here on my next trip back :)

Absolutely superb time -- casita was immaculate, fully furnished, ready for us. Door lock was a pain, but the trick is to pull it tight when dialing in the combination. Beautiful view from the top of the hill. Don't expect to watch tv with limited offerings, but you shouldn't come to Santa Fe to watch tv anyway! Quiet hideaway, yet 15 minutes on Alameda downtown to the plaza. Nomad Casita exceeded our expectations. We had a fabulous time! Dealing with Heidi via email was a breeze-- she made it easy! You cannot go wrong with the Nomad Casita!

This property was so much more than the pictures. So close to the Plaza but seemed so remote. It was immaculately clean and well stocked with anything you could want. The sunsets were spectacular each night. So much so that most night we stopped at Whole Foods to pick up dinner so we wouldn't miss the sunsets.I think we were very lucky with the weather because we really enjoyed sitting on the patio and enjoying the vista.Washer and dryer were. a real plus as was the hot tub. A thoroughly wonderful setting for a very relaxing week. Don't miss lunch at the Inn of the Ananazi- a true 5 star restaurant! Thank you

The casita was everything I anticipated and more!!! Roomy, beautiful view of the sunset and horizon. The location was peaceful and extremely relaxing, with a nice hottub to relax in after a day of skiing. We will never stay in a chain hotel again and pay money to be treated like "cattle". My husband and I traveled with our 2 oldest daughters who are 8 and 9 and we thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the casita-exploring and solitude. The property management did not leave one detail out of the amenities all the way to the laundry soap and full size shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom. The casita was stylish and comfortable and we felt like it was definitely money well spent. Thanks so much! Roxanne (Rockport, TX)

I was pleasantly surprised at this little casita. It was very pretty, sparkling clean and had beautiful views. It is a bit hard to find at first, but once located it was fine. There is only one window unit in the livingroom to cool the entire space, and for some reason it was not blowing air the first 3 days we were there. It miracuosly fixed itself the last day and we were more comfortable. It was very warm in the house during the day before that happened. I would think Summer would be uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the WiFi never worked despite several calls to the owner. He said he would come check it out, but never showed up. I had 2 hours of work I needed to do on the computer daily, and because it did not work I had to spend 2 hours of my time daily in a Starbucks. This was not what I wanted to do. The hot tub is wonderful, but be aware that none of the solar lights that were supposed to light the path worked. Bring a flashlight for sure because it is extremely dark out there at night. I guess the owner is not afraid of lawsuits because this is an accident waiting to happen. We had been given the wrong code to open the door, but a call to the owner quickly solved that problem. The door is a bit hard to open, you have to use 2 hands to get it open..one to turn the lock and one to pull the door handle. It would be hard for someone with arthritis.

My girlfriend and I had a great weekend at the Nomad Casita. A neat little house with a great view of the mountains. We relaxed in the hot tub after a long day of skiing, and enjoyed the fire place at night. Made for a special weekend. Thanks!
