Are you looking for the perfect vacation? Do you need a place to unwind and recharge your batteries? We've got the perfect place for you. It is called Damselfly Cottage. This lovely cottage is located in the the picturesque New England town of Sutton New Hampshire, population 1786. The cottage is charming with a romantic knotty pine interior, a wonderful screened porch to eat meals, play games, curl up with a good book on the day bed, or sit and enjoying looking at the lake. It is the perfect relaxing getaway, for vacation, honeymoon, 2nd honeymoon, or checking out the gorgeous fall foliage. The cottage is 10 yards from the water's edge. It is located on one and one-half acres with the owner's cottage next door. Would you like your own dock, hammock, picnic area overlooking the lake? And how about lovely flower gardens, or a mediation bench to help you relax your body and soul? You'll sleep great on our cozy new mattresses. You can snuggle up to a fire in our cozy living room with a gorgeous field stone fireplace.
Sitting on your dock you will enjoy the loons, the blue heron. You will see the baby fish through the clear lake water, and your sandy swimming area, watch damselflies and dragonflies dance through the air. This lake water is one of the cleanest and clearest in the State of New Hampshire. If you like to fish, just throw out a line, you will most likely catch a bass, perch, pickerel, and sometimes even a hornpout, the fishing is excellent. You will also want to sit out on the dock at night and see the beautiful stars, in August the meteor showers. There are a rowboat, paddle boat and canoe for you to explore the lake. The lake is about 1/2 mile wide and 2 miles long.
We recently renovated the bathroom, so it now has a full shower and tub, and put in a nice heater to take the chill out when you need it. There is wonderful artesian well water to quench your thirst. There is a new horseshoe pit for your enjoyment. If you just want to curl up with a good book, the daybed on the porch or the hammock, will certainly do the trick. For little ones, a separate sandy beach is very nearby that the members of the lake association share.
The property is located just 30 minutes north/ west of Concord, New Hampshire, one and one-half hours from Boston, and less than an hour from Vermont, and only 45 minutes from the Manchester NH airport. It is close to New London, Bradford, Henniker, and Dartmouth. It is an excellent base to enjoy local activities in the mountains, go to museums, antique, golf, go listen to a variety of free music at the local gazebos, go to summer theater in New London at the Barn Playhouse or attend one of the many local summer festivals: the League of New Hampshire Craftsmens' Fair in August, events at The Fells in Newbury, the Fall Foliage Festival in Warner, Farm Days or other Events at Musterfield Farm, The Balloon Festival in Hillsboro, The Hopkinton State Fair etc. but most have found it is difficult to leave the lake as it is truly a "little bit of Heaven"!! |
