Built in 1910 and completely renovated, this fine home combines the elegant character of a bygone era with all the modern conveniences. This fabulous house sits on a large lot on a hill, providing lots of privacy while remaining close to all the happenings in Nye Beach. Great for those who appreciate old homes and antiques.
Three bedrooms, 3.5 baths, media room, family room, great room, 2200 square feet. Two gas fireplaces, two decks, plasma TV, double oven, quartz countertops. The round hot tub sits in a protected and private gazebo. Shops and restaurants, city park and walking trail, and beach access are all just steps away. Ocean view.
MAIN FLOOR: Great room featuring a very comfortable living area with a view out to sea, a fully stocked kitchen with quartz countertops and double oven, eating bar, dining area, and doors out to the spacious deck. The media room features a 50" plasma TV, state of the art sound system, fold out couch with super comfortable AirDream mattress, and gas fireplace. The large main floor bedroom has a King-size bed. The main floor also has a full bath.
UPSTAIRS: Master bedroom with Queen-size bed, full bath, and window seat looking out over Nye Creek to the city park. The second bedroom has a Queen-size bed and window seat looking into the treetops. At the top of the stairs is a comfortable sitting area with window seat, easy chair and a view of the ocean, and a half bath.
DAYLIGHT BASEMENT: Family room with a large sitting area, gas fireplace, 6 foot slate top pool table, teak card table and electronic piano. From this inviting room, there is easy access to the gazebo with hot tub. When you get out of the hot tub, you can shower in the full bath in the basement. The laundry area with front loading washer/dryer is tucked into a closet in the basement.
YOU WILL LOVE OUR LOCATION: Two minute walk to the heart of Nye Beach and the best ever chocolate chip cookies at Café Stephanie. Two minutes to the Nye Beach Market, with its truly amazing variety of tasty snacks - try their homemade cinnamon rolls and great coffee. Five minute walk to put your toes in the sand. You won't have to walk more than 10 minutes to any of over a dozen great eateries - from the newer Nana's Irish Kitchen & Pub to the well established and homey Chowder Bowl, fresh baked breads and pastries at Panini, fabulous dinners at April's.... Can you tell that we love our local restaurants? There is something delicious in Nye Beach for every taste and budget.
The Performing Arts Center, Visual Arts Center and galleries are all within a ten minute walk. Ten minute drive to the Bay Front and Yaquina Bay Lighthouse and State Park. Fifteen minute drive south to the Newport Aquarium, Hatfield Marine Science Center and north to Yaquina Head Lighthouse and its Marine Wildlife Interpretive Center. The Newport shuttle will take you to all these locations for free!
BEACH ACCESS: There are two places to access the beach near Cornelius House. The Nye Beach Turnaround is the closest - just 3 blocks away, with picnic tables, a place to wash the sand off your feet and public bathrooms. The second is a few blocks further south, at Olive and Coast streets. This beach access has a long winding paved path down a bluff to the beach, some cool sculptures, public restrooms and a memorial to sailors lost at sea.

- Not Suitable for Children: This home contains many antiques, glass front bookcase, Persian rug, gorgeous woodwork and easily dented fir floors. We have found these to be incompatible with most children. Again, see VRBO 99677 for a very kid friendly home!

In addition to rent, all guests pay 9.5% Newport city tax, 1% Oregon hotel tax,

My husband, two of my children, son in law and our son's friend really set the tone, great music (in the fabulous sound system) challenging puzzle "Noah's Ark" and a quaint little village to roam around in and explore. Your home is lovely and we hope to come back soon. ***** Pleasant first night, quickly settled in, no problems. Enjoyed a waterfront meal, nice service, good food. Then stayed awhile at The Irish Pub, maybe having one too many!, but lots of fun, with good music. Later some soaked in the hot tub till late. Very nice over all. Day two: More of the same, eating way too much great food. Walks on the beach etc. We'd really like to take this home back with us, but.... Will certainly tell everyone what a wonderful place we stayed at, thanks so much. God Bless, The Pattles
