(approx. 55 sqm) 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, livingroom with open fireplace, (stereo, internet) and double sofa bed,

2 community parking lots

"La Bellavista" is located on the 1st floor of "Casa Acacia", a fantastic house with lots of charm and its own more then 300 years of history It is actually the oldest house of all. More then 65 sqm offer plenty of space for up to 4 persons. It was constructed with quarystones by the farmers when clearing woodlands and macchia slopes to prepare land for vineyards and olivegroves .Stones that traditionally were use for building houses or terrassed-walls. Its original use was as stable for sheep and goats and as a hayloft. Prove of this give the typical imposing loft ceiling that seems to flow above. The old staircase and doors sills of local grey sandstone are trodded down by thousands of feet that passed them within the last few hundred of years.

Upstairs the large livingroom with open fireplace and double sofabed. The small kitchen is fully equipped (3 electric hobs, oven, fridge, American & Italian coffee maker, etc.), the cosy bedroom is spacious and has ceiling fan and mosquito screens . the bathroom with its smart saunatype layout has a particular flair.

"Bellavista" was renovated some years ago , but the typical Tuscan structure of old oak beam ceilings and terracotto floors remained intentially untouched. All rooms are handpainted in the typical warm colours of a Tuscan country home : shades of yellow, orange and green. this and some pieces of typical "arte povera" furnitures give you the feeling of living in an ambiente of ...once upon the time ....

Enjoy the sunset in complete silence from your terrace, garden furniture, sunbeds as well as a bbq. Gaze onto onto the extended gardens, the romantic creek and the surrounding maddows and vast macchia covered hills of this private property of more then 76 ha. Start your hiking and biking directly form your doorsteps on well marked trails. Or simply take a stroll on our meditation trail along the small creek with its waterfalls, walk up to the waterlily pond or through the valley to the nearby town of Castellina in Chianti.

Or take a dip in the large community swimming pool that you share with very few other guests (5,5x11x1,50m and 2x3m splashpool entrance platform for the smallest, ). The extended leisure areas and wellcared gardens of more then 2 ha , equipped with garden furniture, the childrens playground with soccer field, ping-pong table, sandbox with fairhouse and swing, .are the pride of the German owner and her staff. Cascades of flowers, rose bushes, citrus fruits as well as the surrounding meadows with many rare types of orchids and wild herbs create the unforgettable image of a lost paradise..

Animated is this small paradise by various cats, 2 freeroaming wellbehaved dogs (1 male, 1 lively female), a pictoresque small herd of cameroon sheep, chicken, geese, ducks, pigeons and more. Stunning the variaty of birds and butterflies as well as fireflies. And with a bit of patience one may also see wild boars, deer and roe deer, foxes, badgers and porcupines as well as the rare Tuscan eagle that breeds in our valley.

The housing complex is surrounded by grass, gravel - as well as terracotta paved walks and stairs which join the different levels with their romantic porches and apartments. Several natural quarry stone terraces with solitary trees like cypresses, acacia, pine and oak trees are leading to the small creek where the real wild nature begins.

Admire the increditable variaty if wild flowers and walk along small trails that we cut right through the maddows - amazing the spectacle of fireflies in late May and June, the rare songs of the our numerous nightingales and the concert of hundreds of birds in the morning and evening. Because of its privacy and our efforts this is still a rare paradise - and only minutes from the next town center !!!

When planing your trip take in consideration that due to our perfect location, most important sights can be easily reached within 1 hours drive. Also please dont forget to leave some space for one of the many concerts, horseback riding or some evening with newfound friends or maybe a halfday cookery course with local dishes. Extremes like biking on the new trail up at the Apennin mountains or island hoping on the Tuscan coast are also possible.

Enjoy a dream vacation in Tuscany's heart - the "Chianti Classico" region - only few miles from Florence and Siena, easy to reach from Pisa and Florence airport - surrounded by the the world-famous landscape of extended vineyards, silvery olive groves, vast forests, colorful macchia and solitary estates.

T.he 16th century privately owned Val Verde - a 76 ha large property, is situated inmidst the natural resort area of the "Oasis del Chianti"- which guarantees absolute privacy and peace. Its various farmhouse accommodations are situated only 2 kilometres from the famous wine town Castellina in Chianti with shopping facilities and restaurants. Other famous towns and cities such as Florence, Siena, Greve, Radda, Gaiole, as well as San Gimignano, Lucca, Pistoia, Arezzo are very close, some less then 1 hour by car.

If you drive a bit more, you will find Cortona, Perugia or Pisa; even day trips by train or car to Rome, Milano or Venice are possible. • nglish, German + Italian speaking owner lives on site Location: We are a tiny hamlet 500 m from main road - no long rides on dusty country roads Being close to the next town Castellina in Chianti (only 3 km) shopping + dining is easy - one may even walk there - just zip into town for a coffee break or some of the best ice-creme of the area Some thoughts : isolated houses in hill positions may suffer from water shortage in summer + gusty winds in spring + autumn, shortening the pool season. Our protected position, typical for real old houses + the many wells help us avoid either. also during thunderstorms, electrical failures are not uncommon, but due to the closeness to town we profit from its priority rating. Pool: Since there are sooo many sights to visit + things to do most of our guests take off early in the morning + come back late in the evening, after a dip in the pool they are off again for dinner. so pool + leisure area are often deserted

Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 1997

The German owner Ulrike and her son Fabian - both english speaking very openminded people that will be glad to be of assistance and share their experiences with their many international guests

Why the Owner Chose Castellina in Chianti

Was infected with the "Tusan virus" after my first visit (like so many others) some 30 years ago and after various vacations decided to finally settle in the heart of Tuscany - the Chianti Classico" area. Here I found everything I ever longed for - nature, peace, clean air, good food and fantastic wines and culture of the highest level. After some years I decided to share my experiences (also cooking) with guest from all over the world and opened a rental activity.

The Unique Benefits of this Apartment

there are few places that are so central to everything, and offer so much - located only 500 m from the main road but in absolute silence of the surrounding nature (the only nature preserve area in the Siena region) - you are closed to most important sights and places of Tuscany - 5 min to the next town, so social contacts are guaranteed - less then 1 hours from the next major airport (Florence) so getting here is no problem - fantastic marked trekking trails starting from your doorstep (stunning nature in winter or spring) , biking of the finest (on the tracks of the Giro d'Italia, golfing with the elite, or simply enjoying a glass of wine, some pecorino cheese on your personal patio, watching deer and wild boar pass by, Tuscan eagles soaring above this magnificant privately owned valley - what can one ask more for

Week at Bellavista

Guest: Dave (Minnesota)
Date of Stay: 10/09/10 Review Submitted: 11/07/10

Our week at Poderi val verdei was everything we hoped it would be. The Bellavista apartment and grounds were very comfortable, homey and well maintained. We really enjoyed the country feel of the place and the warm, family atmosphere fostered by Ulrike and Fabian. There are animals, olive trees and many kinds of vegetables, fruits and herbs growing everywhere, much of it used in the fabulous meals Ulrike serves. We were also there during mushroom season and spent a wonderful afternoon in the woods with Ulrike and other guests, gathering baskets of mushrooms which we used in the cooking class that evening. After another fabulous meal we shared a special bottle of wine from a local vineyard by the fire with our hosts. While Poderi val verde is a magical place itself, it also has a great location in the heart of Tuscany with easy access to ancient hill towns and vineyards and astounding views everywhere you look. A really wonderful vacation spot!

having already had 2 holidays here (2 weeks in the apartment "La Bellavista" in 2007 and 3 weeks in the studio "Il Rifugio" in 2008) we can highly recommend Poderi Val Verde for the 1st class standards of accommodations (all apartments are excellent), well kept grounds and personal attention set by the owner. This is a beautiful peaceful location (with exception of saturday nights when everybody mets at Ulrike's patio for a tasty Tuscan familystyle welcome dinner cooked by her), very convinient for touring all of Tuscany. Let us point out only a few of the specials of this place: wildlife in the surrounding woods like boar, deer, large variety of birds, even a silver fox., homemade preserves and other delicacies, fresh eggs, extra vergine oil and homemade vinegars, original Tuscan food, its receipes also taught by Ulrike in halfday cookery courses that are very popular, and much, much more - brava Ulrike Ulrike !!!!
