La Bellavista (2-4 persons)
(approx. 55 sqm) kitchen, 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, livingroom with open fireplace, (stereo, internet) and double sofa bed,
2 community parking lots
'La Bellavista' is located on the 1st floor of 'Casa Acacia', a fantastic house with lots of charm and its own more then 300 years of history It is actually the oldest house of all. More then 55 sqm offer plenty of space for up to 4 persons. It was constructed with quarystones by the farmers when clearing woodlands and macchia slopes to prepare land for vineyards and olive groves, stones that traditionally were use for building houses or terrassed-walls. Its original use was as stable for sheep and goats and as a hayloft. Prove of this give the typical imposing loft ceiling that seems to flow above. The old staircase and doors sills of local grey sandstone are trodded down by thousands of feet that passed them within the last few hundred of years.
Step into the large livingroom with open fireplace and double sofabed. The small kitchen is fully equipped (4 electric hobs, oven, fridge, American & Italian coffee maker, etc.), the cosy bedroom (with 2 single orthopedic springs and memory foam mattresses) is spacious and has ceiling fan and mosquito screens . the bathroom with its smart saunatype layout has a particular flair.
'Bellavista' was renovated some years ago and retouched in 2012 , the typical Tuscan structure of old oak beam ceilings and terracotto floors remained intentially untouched. All rooms are handpainted in the typical warm colours of a Tuscan country home : shades of yellow, orange and green. this and some pieces of typical 'arte povera' furnitures give you the feeling of living in an ambiente of ...once upon the time ....
Enjoy the sunset in complete silence from your terrace with mosquito-screened gazebo, table, chairs and sunbeds as well as a bbq. Gaze onto the extended gardens, the romantic creek and the surrounding maddows and vast macchia covered hills of this private property of more then 76 ha. Start your hiking and biking directly form your doorsteps on well marked trails. Or simply take a stroll on our meditation trail along the small creek with its waterfalls, walk up to the waterlily pond or through the valley to the nearby town of Castellina in Chianti.
Or take a dip in the large community swimming pool that you share with very few other guests (5,5x11x1,50m and 2x3m splashpool entrance platform for the smallest, ). The extended leisure areas and wellcared gardens of more then 2 ha , equipped with garden furniture, the childrens playground with soccer field, ping-pong table, sandbox with fairhouse and swing, .are the pride of the German owner and her staff. Cascades of flowers, rose bushes, citrus fruits as well as the surrounding meadows with many rare types of orchids and wild herbs create the unforgettable image of a lost paradise..
Animated is this small paradise by various cats, 2 freeroaming wellbehaved dogs (1 male, 1 lively female), a pictoresque small herd of cameroon sheep, chicken, geese, ducks, pigeons and more. Stunning the variaty of birds and butterflies as well as fireflies. And with a bit of patience one may also see wild boars, deer and roe deer, foxes, badgers and porcupines as well as the rare Tuscan eagle that breeds in our valley.
The housing complex is surrounded by grass, gravel - as well as terracotta paved walks and stairs which join the different levels with their romantic porches and apartments. Several natural quarry stone terraces with solitary trees like cypresses, acacia, pine and oak trees are leading to the small creek where the real wild nature begins.
Admire the increditable variaty if wild flowers and walk along small trails that we cut right through the maddows - amazing the spectacle of fireflies in late May and June, the rare songs of the our numerous nightingales and the concert of hundreds of birds in the morning and evening. Because of its privacy and our efforts this is still a rare paradise - and only minutes from the next town center !!!
When planing your trip take in consideration that due to our perfect location, most important sights can be easily reached within 1 hours drive. Also please dont forget to leave some space for one of the many concerts, horseback riding or some evening with newfound friends or maybe a halfday cookery course with local dishes. Extremes like biking on the new trail up at the Apennin mountains or island hoping on the Tuscan coast are also possible.
Enjoy a dream vacation in Tuscany's heart - the 'Chianti Classico' region - only few miles from Florence and Siena, easy to reach from Pisa and Florence airport - surrounded by the the world-famous landscape of extended vineyards, silvery olive groves, vast forests, colorful macchia and solitary estates.
The 16th century privately owned Val Verde - a 76 ha large property, is situated inmidst the natural resort area of the 'Oasis del Chianti'- which guarantees absolute privacy and peace. Its various farmhouse accommodations are situated only 2 kilometres from the famous wine town Castellina in Chianti with shopping facilities and restaurants. Other famous towns and cities such as Florence, Siena, Greve, Radda, Gaiole, as well as San Gimignano, Lucca, Pistoia, Arezzo are very close, some less then 1 hour by car.
If you drive a bit more, you will find Cortona, Perugia or Pisa; even day trips by train or car to Rome, Milano or Venice are possible. In this small family style hamlet our sophisticated guests will find undisturbed and unspoiled nature, silence, sun, good food (cookery courses) and fantastic wines.

Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Familie R. Stayed August 2011, traveled with familyDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

“A relaxing rustic getaway!” Reviewed August 23, 2012 1 person found this review helpful Poderi Val Verde offers a truly relaxing rustic getaway in the woodlands of the Chianti hills. Ulrike, the owner of Poderi Val Verde, is an exceedingly gracious host, and her Saturday-night welcome dinners are a fantastic way to start off a week-long vacation: Ulrike's dinners offer a heavenly indulgence of phenomenal home cooking. (Her cooking classes are highly entertaining and scrumptious as well!) The buildings of Poderi Val Verde are beautifully restored farmhouses, with a wonderful homey atmosphere and sinfully comfortable beds! The pool is a fabulous way to beat the summer heat, and the farm atmosphere is charming, with gorgeous gardens and adorable farm animals like sheep, chickens, ducks, and more! The property is a rocky valley, tucked away in the Chianti woodland, but it's not completely isolated in the wilderness: a 5 minute drive brings you to the charming town of Castellina in Chianti (with lovely boutiques, artisanal delis, and fascinating archeological history). And the large cities of Siena and Florence are an easy day-trip away. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Stayed August 2012, traveled as a coupleDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

“"The best and most relaxing vacation ever"” Reviewed October 13, 2012 1 person found this review helpful As two couples, Poderi Val Verde's restored farmhouse was indeed rustic, but was perfect for us: adjoining suites each with a kitchen and patio overlooking the stunning grounds, one with a living room and fireplace, the other with a fantastic sunroom overlooking the grounds and pool. We stayed for our full 2 week visit and were thrilled with our choice of living on a working farm of over 200 hectares with a 350 year history. Our quarry stone home was clean, comfortable and perfectly located to facilitate our day trips to nearby villages-to neighboring Castellina in Chianti, as well as Siena, Florence, Poggibonsi, Greve, and Panzano where we participated in their annual wine festival. Around every corner of the road there was another breathtaking vista each arguably better than the last. We had our big Italian meal of the day wherever we were early in the afternoon and made a light dinner in our kitchen most evenings, eating on the patio with candle lights and wine listening to the sounds of wild boars, deer and wolves in the hillside and our hostesses' dogs keeping them all at bay. Most mornings we watched the sun rise over the valley, prepared a quick breakfast then usually stopped mid-morning for cappuccinos. Our kitchens were well equipped, however the lighting didn't meet our standards, easily solvable by task lights ... but,if that's our only complaint!!! Our hostess, Ulrike, runs the farm alone, feeds the sheep, chickens, ducks, dogs, cats and countless kittens who were always underfoot and also feeds her guests a Welcome Dinner Feast that shouldn't be missed - for the food and for the opportunity to meet new friends. Ulrike was always there to help us, make suggestions and share some wine or her homemade jams. By the end of our visit, she was no longer our hostess but a huggable friend. My well-traveled wife called it the best and most relaxing vacation of her life. When we return, we'll stay there again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Poderi Val Verde is without doubt one of the most relaxing and enjoyable places we have stayed. We have just returned from our fifth visit and it still retains all its magic and charm. It is ideally located mid-way between Florence and Siena (about 45 minutes to each), and the nearest town, Castellina, is less than a 5 minute drive away. Castellina has all the amenities you require, with great restaurants and a pleasant ambiance. Poderi Val Verde is also perfectly located for great wine tasting! The accommodation is in a perfect location, in a beautifully quiet valley - great for relaxation. The owner, her son and the dogs give you a very warm welcome, and provide good advice on the area and what to do. She also cooks a fantastic welcome dinner and is always on hand if you have any queries on your accommodation. Poderi Val Verde will give you a great Tuscan experience - we would definitely recommend it and I'm sure we'll be heading back for another visit!Did you find this review helpful? "I always enjoy staying here" I have stayed at Ulrike's "agriturismo" many times and always enjoy it. This was my first visit in the late fall/winter. In spite of the rain the vacation was most enjoyable. The facilities are great. Ulrike is a great cook! Town is nearby but far enough away that you really are in the Tuscan countryside. I hope to go back again soon.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

"An incredible experience" The location couldn't have been more perfect- easy day trips to Sienna, Florence etc. etc.! The food, wine, and cooking class were incredible and the facilities were spacious and comfortable. The owner was a wealth of information and was willing to assist in any way she could. Having a kitchen to cook occassional meals was great! The lodging was quiet except for the rooster and goats as it should be for a farm house.! Castellina is a wonderful village and the Chianti region was amazing.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

"The true Tuscan experience" We were here for a week and we loved every day and every day was different. We drive to Pisa one day, Sienna another day. We picked Mushrooms one day and made the best soup I have ever had in my life!. Went to vineyards mny of the days. We had a quiet day roaming the grounds, she owns the whole valley so there is lots of space to roam and animals to see. The pools were just perfect, the cooking class was just a blast and we bought some of her Olive Oil from her olive trees, it was amazing but so were all the other jams & jellies she makes. The apartment was spacious, clean, well furnished and very comfortable, the kitchen was stocked with some good basics, coffee, spices etc. There was unlimited hot water something you do not find often anywhere in europe. And finally our Hostess Urlrike Eder was just a joy and could not be more accomodating. She speaks so many languages and knows the area so well, she can send you to places you will never find in a tour book. If our finances allow it I plan to go back, we were there in the Fall and the figs were ripe, I was absolutly addicted to these figs, I never had a fresh italian fig before wow! I could not say anything bad about this place or our experience here and would recommendit to any of our friends. Have a great time!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1997
About the owner: The German owner Ulrike and her son Fabian (presently in Germany) - both english speaking very openminded people that will be glad to be of assistance and share their experiences with their many international guests
Why the Owner Chose Castellina in Chianti:
Was infected with the 'Tusan virus' after my first visit (like so many others) some 30 years ago and after various vacations decided to finally settle in the heart of Tuscany - the Chianti Classico' area. Here I found everything I ever longed for - nature, peace, clean air, good food and fantastic wines and culture of the highest level. After some years I decided to share my experiences (also cooking) with guest from all over the world and opened a rental activity.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
there are few places that are so central to everything, and offer so much - located only 500 m from the main road but in absolute silence of the surrounding nature (the only nature preserve area in the Siena region) - you are closed to most important sights and places of Tuscany - 5 min to the next town, so social contacts are guaranteed - less then 1 hours from the next major airport (Florence) so getting here is no problem - fantastic marked trekking trails starting from your doorstep (stunning nature in winter or spring) , biking of the finest (on the tracks of the Giro d'Italia, golfing with the elite, or simply enjoying a glass of wine, some pecorino cheese on your personal patio, watching deer and wild boar pass by, Tuscan eagles soaring above this magnificant privately owned valley - what can one ask more for
