I have rented this place twice over the past two summers. Its not a 5 star place, but it works well for a weekend getaway. The place was clean when we rented it. Excellent access to the river, complete with rope swing. It is a remote location and takes a bit of navigating to get to. Make sure your GPS has the latest updates, it may take you to the road its on, then you have to go a little further to find it. I use it for our fantasy football draft each year. Everyone is scattered around Texas, we use this as our draft house and make a weekend party out of it. Close to San Marcos, (6 miles). Make sure you bring your alcohol with you, the local stores in Martindale are dry.
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children.

For the past 4 years, my family and I have always rented homes for vacation stays. For a girl's weekend, we rented this house for a weekend. When we arrived, we had no instructions on getting into the home, the bathrooms were dirty, one of the toliets was not working and almost overflowed, the dirty towels were in the washing machine, there was no toliet paper or any other paper products, no kitchen towels, no wine glasses, only 4 coffee cups, dirty sheets on the beds, unswept floors, no window shades on any windows, with two houses on either side. When we called about the situation, we were ignored. I wonder if anyone really owns this property.

The location of this property is excellent. The house is very nice & sleeps lots of people. The problem here is the management. There was no cable (as promised on this website) and the internet password was no where to be found (management would not return our calls) and the place was dirty. The dishes were nasty, and several of the beds had not been changed. We could have taken care of cleaning the beds ourselves, but the dryer (also promised on this website) was broken. All of these problems we encountered could have been remedied if only we would have received a call back from management. We called several times & left messages & no response the entire time (we were there 5 days!). There was also a fire that burnt down the house right beside us (thankfully we were there to call the fire dept) and management STILL didn't come by to check on us. Amazing. The place has so much potential, but the management is either too busy or just does not care. So disappointed - my parents had been looking forward to this vacation for months and traveled cross country for their stay only to arrive at a dirty house with no television, internet, and dryer. I am sure (knowing my parents) they left the house cleaner than it was when they got there .....and we were still charged the cleaning fee!
