Bull Shoals cabin description
1000 sq. ft. of a rustic charmed cedar sided cabin on the Lake with a PRIVATE BOAT DOCK, welcomes you to 2 tranquil wooded acres in the Ozark Mountains. We like to call it a 'LAKESIDE HERMITAGE'!
The interior of this 3 bedroom, 2 bath cabin is surrounded by a warm tongue and grooved knotty pine throughout. The great room with 17' ceilings boasts a full kitchen, solid oak dining set, living area w/ large flat screen TV/DVD and lots of windows. A patio door also opens to the deck built around a large towering oak tree for natural shade and faces the lake equipped with patio furniture and a gas grill.
The master bedroom has a queen size bed, massive country French pine dresser and nightstand, and a flat screen TV. The bunk room is off of the master and has its own separate entrance to the bath. The bathroom has a large shower with oil bronze bath fixtures and a granite vanity sink top. The loft features a bedroom with a daybed and attached pull out trundle (both with quality mattresses which can accommodate 2 adults comfortably), private bath with tub, and a sitting area with a bistro table and chairs overlooking the great room and the Lake where a game of cards, chess, or taking in a good book can be had.
At dusk, sit on your balcony or your private boat dock on the water, and enjoy the serene sounds of Owls, Bobwhites, Whip-poor-wills and Coyotes echoing through the valley. The evening also brings a variety of bats bugsurfing overhead for a midnight snack, and the occasional flying squirrel can be caught raiding the bird feeders under the cover of darkness. Or, perhaps gaze into the radiant night sky, absent of all city lights while searching for your favorite star, chase satellites to the horizon, or wish upon a shooting star while swapping stories around a warm crackling campfire.
Also, Mosquitoes are few to NONE!!! Yes, this truly is the 'Best of both Worlds'!
If you are looking for an escape from your fast paced world, basking in the natural tranquility and beauty of the Ozark Mountains, 'THE LAKESIDE HERMITAGE' on Bull Shoals Lake in Arkansas has what you seek. This clear blue lake was formed by the damming of the White River in the mid 1950's, and has been attracting all who love the outdoors ever since. It offers 45,500 acres of lake and 1050 miles of mountain shoreline, straddling the borders of Arkansas and Missouri. Fishing tournaments are held year round because of the outstanding fishing in this area and harbors species such as Walleye, Crappie, Catfish, and numerous varieties of Bass. The amazing cliff structures beneath the waters surface are not only great for fish habitat, but is well known for the great scuba diving and spear fishing due to the clarity of the lake. Pleasure boating is quite safe and relatively light, even on weekends and holidays. The White River, below the dam, is 18 scenic miles away via windy mountain roads, and is world renowned for its trout fishing, where your limit of Cutthroat, Rainbow, and/or Browns can easily be caught. This area remains to still be deemed as 'The mid-south's best kept secret' thus far!

Wonderful time in spite of weather
Wonderful time in spite of weather
Just got back from spending a week at your quaint cabin in the woods. Can't say enough good things about your hosts and their hospitality. We had a week of rain but several hours each day that brought out the sun, so we played as much as we could! Skiing, tubing, cave tours, jugging with Todd and visits to Branson's Titanic museum provided hours of fun for our family. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed to do home cooking. Cheree's wonderful chocolate cake was most appreciated for our son's birthday after a day of lake activities. Saw lots of wildlife, including one copperhead snake (who is now no longer among the living) and enjoyed a delicious lunch buffet at Gastons. If you are looking for an escape and don't mind long, gravel country roads/hills-this is your vacation. Great overall experience and wonderful folks

We thoroughly enjoyed the Lakeside Hermitage. Especially enjoyable was the time we spent on the water; at the boat dock (swimming platform), on the pontoon boat, and we enjoyed the jet ski rental and fishing. We are close enough to White River to take in some excellent trout fishing; limiting out the first two days wading the river prior to them generating. We had five sleep in the cabin and my sister and her daughter pulled her camper down which they parked next to the cabin. It was the perfect arrangement. We spent most every evening at fire pit enjoying each other stories and just catching up. The cabin was a bit smaller than what we expected but it all worked out favorably.

What a wonderful time we had getting together. 6 boys from 4-64 coming together from the North, South & East for a family fishing weekend, and we couldn't have picked a more perfect spot. The cabin is secluded. The water is beautiful. You just can't get a better trip to a more wonderful place.

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
I WAS dreaming of a white Christmas and we figured northern Arkansas would have it. As it turned out, we were quite happy without it! It is beautiful, peaceful and relaxing at Lakeside Hermitage. Santa brought the snow to our home in central Arkansas and with it power outages. Julie was super accommodating an let us extend our stay. We were there for about a week and I never felt 'cabin fever'. Lakeside Hermitage is a wonderful get away and I highly recommend it!

We had a very peaceful, relaxing stay at the cabin. The caretakers were wonderful and helpful. The owners were most helpful too. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to go back.

A truly wonderful place to stay!
A truly wonderful place to stay!
Although the weather was not as we would have wished for, the accommodations could not have been better. The directions that we were provided were detailed and very accurate. We had no problem locating the cabin and meeting up with Todd and Cheree, two of the most friendly and helpful people we have met. They are both a great asset to Lakeside Hermitage. Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised at the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the cabin. The cabin was exceptionaly neat, clean and anything that we may have fogotten at home or wished we had thought of was already at the cabin, awaiting our arrival. The cabin was very comfortable and spacious enough for a family of 5 adults and 2 children to enjoy without running over each other. The gas grille provided was definitly a plus that we used everynight. Another welcoming addition to Lakeside Hermitage is the boat that is available to rent and the ATV that is provided to transport everything up and down the trail to the boat dock and back. In between the rain showers we were able to really enjoy the lake by skiing and riding the tube behind the boat. I would highly recommend Lakeside Hermitage to anyone that is looking for a quiet and tranquil getaway from the hussle and bussle of everyday life. Everything from the initial contact, reservation and transactions to the arrival and stay at Lakeside Hermitage and finally to the departure went very smoothly and just as promised. It was an awesome weekend enjoyed by the entire family. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home and friends with us!

The stay at the Lakeside Hermitage was wonderful... very secluded and quiet. Short distance into town. We had 5 of us stay there and it was perfect. If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy your surroundings... this is the place. Alot of wildlife, beautiful lake(private dock with beautiful sunsets), and a wonderful cabin. We rented the boat and had a blast in it as well. I would recommend this place to anyone and I hope to return soon for another stay.

This is our second Memorial Day staying at the cabin. It is so peaceful...a nice place to just sit and relax. But with six guys, three boats and a dog we were there for fishing. Unfortunately, the early heat had driven the fish deep right when we got there. Still, the bottle bass were plentiful! This secluded cabin, on it's long gravel road, is perfect by itself (you will need to grocery shop at the Walmart in Flippin, as there is nothing near the cabin), but the thing that makes it perfect are the caretakers, Cheree and Todd. We spend a lot of time with them eating, drinking, fishing and conversing and they are kind, generous and friendly. True life long friends!!! The owner, Julie, is very accommodating and is great at communicating promptly. She will help you with any questions you have and goes out of her way to be fair if issues arise (You know guys, some last minute drop outs). Nature is all around, so be prepared...deer, armadillo, roadrunners, lizzards and an occasional bear growl in the distance. If you like to watch the birds, they are everywhere and every kind. There is a feeder just outside the kitchen window, always with an occupant two feet away. There is a utility vehicle to go from cabin to dock. The path is a bit rocky and elevated so you need to take your time. You can walk it...down is easy, up on the other hand is only for hardcore hikers!!! We look forward to returning next spring and hope the fishing and weather gods look down on us favorably.

My wife and me recently stayed at the cabin for a week. Peaceful and quiet. We were very pleased with the experience. Fishing was great on both Bull Shoals lake and the White river. Cheree and Todd are wonderful hosts with a wealth of information of the area. This area of AR is the most beautiful in the state and we will surley be back!

Wonderful Mini vacation
Wonderful Mini vacation
Lakeside Hermitage is the most wonderful place we have ever stayed at Bull Shoals in our 14 years of going there. We, my wife, two daughters, my elderly mom, and our two dogs decided to go for a mini vacation as my mom had broken her neck and was in an assisted living facility for 6 months and we wanted to treat her. When we arrived it was 12:15 pm and 102 outside, we walked into this beautiful cabin (inside and out) and it was 73 degrees inside. The girls claimed their bunk bed and Gran wanted the roll away so we could have the master bedroom. We spent time looking around at all the decorations, the place was clean and very well maintaned. Had a wonderful meal cooked on the bbq grill and then we watched a movie with popcorn and ice cream and went to bed. We all slept very well, my back hurt a little from the bed, but I am used to a very firm bed. Our day was then spent in the deck boat on the lake tubing, fishing, swimming, and the girls fed the giant carp and ducks at the marina we went to. We then went swimming and fishing from the swimming platform/dock for a while. Gran was worn out and we decided to call it a day at about 8:00. Had pizza and ice cream and another movie. Sunday (the temp was 75) my wife and I went on the White River with Todd the property host and we each caught a very nice brown trout, 19, and 19-1/2 in. they have to be 24 to keep :-( ,caught several rainbow trout that we took home and grilled (wow). The other 3 were lazy and stayed in playing games and watching movies. We all slept in Monday morn and then went out fishing again on the lake (too cool to get in water) we caught several perch and a couple catfish. The dogs thought that was great! We went back to the marina so the girls could feed the fish again (the dogs got to see them this time, funny). We had another great day and then we had to leave the next day. We enjoyed watching and listening to the birds, the squirrels, saw a couple turkey and several deer. The girls loved the swing. Todd and Cheree were absolutely wonderful, answered our questions and helped when we needed them. The cabin was stocked with everything we could possibly need, was cozy, comfortable and very peaceful. (other than the creak in the floor when you are trying to sneak out for a midnight snack of milk and cookies and your daughter catches you!) Wonderful experience and will definitely return for a full vacation next year.
