Uptown Haven - All the Convenience of Home

You can stay here and never need a rental car. The streetcar is two blocks away and will take you to Audubon Park, the French Quarter or the Garden District. The city is quite small, so a taxi can affordably take you to any restaurant, arts, or music venue that you seek. The new location of Rock N' Bowl is 11 blocks away.
This fully furnished self-contained apartment is one-half of a shotgun double house located in a residential neighborhood. Just two blocks away from beautiful oak-lined Carrollton Avenue, you can walk or bike to Tulane and Loyola Universities, Audubon Park and Zoo.
The house is approximately 100 years old and boasts original hardwood floors in the living room, a fully furnished kitchen, central A/C, and a lovely private garden patio.
Enjoy your morning coffee on the garden patio while listening to doves cooing nearby. There is a wonderful cafe around the corner that serves breakfast and lunch daily.
No matter what the occasion, it is easy to get to and from your destination. Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, French Quarter, Audubon Park, and the Lakefront are all accessible within a fifteen minute drive from this location.
Close to the Riverbend area, where an abundance of restaurants and live music is available.
If you enjoy running or walking to stay fit, beautiful Audubon Park is close enough to walk or run there (or take a short streetcar ride). The Mississippi River levee is paved for bicycle rides or roller blading.
There is an outdoor Arts Market on the last Saturday of the month at Palmer Park, which is three blocks away. The Arts Market features handmade, affordable art from local and regional artists and artisans. Styles of art include Painting, Photography, Ceramics, Glass, Jewelry, Wood, and Printmaking, plus handmade clothing, soap, candles, and other delights. Between 50 and 100 artists display and sell their wares each month.

We had a choice between this rental and one right down on the French Quarter. We are so glad we chose this cool shotgun home. Loved the neighborhood including making friends with the cat next door! So many things within walking distance including a grocery, drugstore and the street car line. We bought Jazzy passes for the day and were able to use all the public transportation without worrying about correct change. The house was clean and it was nice to have little amenities in the kitchen so we didn't have to buy spices and condiments for our short stay. The binder full of information on local restaurants was extremely helpful. We loved Dante's Kitchen! The little cafe around the corner was a great place to grab breakfast too! And we had a great experience at Cochon Butcher... yummmmmm! Bacon pralines!!! Julie was great to work with and very prompt with all inquiries. We definitely plan to stay there again on our next visit to the Big Easy!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We rented this unit in order to spend the Thanksgiving holidays with our daughter in New Orleans. The choice was perfect for us. The unit is only two blocks from the streetcar line. After we arrived, we did not start the car again until it was time to leave 5 days later. The unit was clean and well-furnished. We were not out at midnight trying to find a wine screw. The unit was exactly as advertised with no surprises. Even though we were reserving at the last minute, everything went smooth as glass. In fact, we have never converse telephonically with the owners due to the exceptional coordination of the owners. We have visited our daughter several times over the past few years and we have never felt safer than we did here. You are in the middle of well-kept family dwellings. We intend to stay here on all of our future visits if they have an opening and will have us.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, girls getaway.

We had a wonderful vacation at this location. The house was extremely comfortable, impeccably clean and we felt very safe in the neighborhood. Although the location is a distance away from the main tourist areas, it was well situated for public transportation access. The beautifully landscaped private rear garden was a real bonus! The owner has compiled a book with very helpful tips and information so we felt instantly at ease in the neighborhood. We would not hesitate to come back if we are every in New Orleans again.Recommended for: Families with young children, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We had a great time vacationing in New Orleans and this apartment made our stay much more fun and relaxing. This apartment is in a great location, within 2 blocks from the St. Charles streetcar line. We felt very safe in the neighborhood, even walking home from the streetcar stop at night. The apartment is clean and well maintained. This is perfect if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing place but still want it to be charming and authentic. The owners are very nice and provide a lot of ammenities. We used the welcome book frequently during our stay. They were also very easy to communicate with during booking and provided suggestions about where to get groceries once we arrived. Roccobono's around the corner is great for breakfast, reasonably priced. O'Henry's down Carrollton St is great for dinner/lunch. Using the streetcar line, we walked and explored the French Quarter everyday. The apartement is in a good location for easily being able to get out of town to visit Jean Lafitte swamp area and Oak Alley Plantation. I would definately reccomend staying at this apartment to my friends and family.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

This was a wonderful place for us since we have a 3 year old. We got to walk to breakfast, ride the bikes around the neighborhood, walked to lunch at Camillia Grill and took the streetcar to French Quarter for beignets and coffee. It was the perfect place for Mardi Gras since we wanted the peace and quiet after a long day of parades. Definitely will return!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
