Enjoy this 2600 square foot custom finished home (non-smoking) in the San Juan Mountains in beautiful Lake City Colorado. Rock the afternoon away on the covered front porch or enjoy the sunny 440 sq. foot deck overlooking the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River with patio table and umbrella, gas grill and beautiful views of Round Mountain and Red Mountain. Relax to the sound of the river flowing by the rustic gazebo. This home was completed in 2007 with granite countertops, stained glass accents, hardwood floors, 22 foot vaulted aspen ceilings and is situated on seven town lots. Lake City is truly a mountain paradise!

The kitchen is fully equipped including a warming drawer. The new gas grill is just outside the double glass doors leading from the kitchen to the deck. The intimate dining room will seat 6 - 8 people with additional seating for two at the granite-topped island.

The master suite king bedroom has double glass doors leading to a deck overlooking the river. The private bath has double sinks with a tub/shower with glass door. The art glass window provides a wonderful mountain breeze.

The upstairs bedroom with full bed and private balcony affords magnificent views of the river and canyon. The second upstairs bedroom has a queen bed with views of the town. Between the two bedrooms is a spacious shared bath with doors from each bedroom. Each bedroom has a large walk-in closet as well. The large bath has double pedestal sinks separated by a granite top vanity. The tub/shower combination with glass doors and toilet are in a separate room. These bedrooms both lead to the large open loft with a catwalk leading to a small library for your use. The beds have heated mattress pads, and there is central heat for your comfort as well.

There is ample parking for multiple vehicles including an RV area with 30 amp service and a carport. A lockable 180 sq foot storage room off the carport gives you ample space to safely store bicycles, coolers, and sporting gear out of the weather.

The upstairs loft with skylights and mountain-view windows, has a 1950's game table that can make a rainy day enjoyable with Monopoly, puzzles, cards, UNO, Phase 10, and Skipbo. This is a great getaway area to spend undisturbed time on a puzzle or enjoy a book in the comfortable chair with your feet up on the ottoman. The new 46' Sony Bravia LCD television in the great room has a PlayStation 3 that plays both traditional CD and Blue Ray discs (bring your own controllers for hours of fun!).

The laundry room is equipped with washer, dryer, ironing board, iron and clothes rack. Laundry detergent is also supplied.

Situated in the historic district, you are within a few blocks of the downtown area, post office, multiple eating establishments, churches, town parks, coffee shops, post office, fly fishing shop, quaint shops, visitors' center, movie theater, and new state-of-the-art medical center. So relaxing just to keep your car parked and watch the fawns frolic through town.

The town of Creede (outstanding theater in the summer, restaurants, shopping art galleries, excellent fly fishing & guides) is about an hour to the south, and the larger ski-towns of Gunnison (1 hour north) and Crested Butte (1 1/2 hours north) are fun day trips with river rafting (check out Taylor River in Gunnison), restaurants (Garlic Mike's in Gunnison), and many speciality shops. The coffee bistro and Colorado-style Mexican food at Donita's in Crested Butte are family favorites. All three of these small towns--Gunnsion, Creede, and Crested Butte are easy day trips from Lake City. For those wanting a national park experience, a day hike through the Black Canyon of the Gunnison is guaranteed not to disappoint.

You'll be sure to thoroughly enjoy your stay in this picturesque mountain town which is truly a step back in time.

We enjoyed one of our best vacations ever! The house is beautiful yet extremely cozy and comfortable. It is very well maintained and included everything we needed. It is even nicer in person than the pictures reflect. The owners are extremely helpful in answering questions and make great tour guides.Everything they recommended we see and do was tops. The new Lake City Cafe has great food and is a must. Get there when they open as they fill up quickly. Bruno's is another great place to eat. It's more of a fine dining experience and has food that would be top notch even in a large city. Go early in your visit so you can enjoy the leftovers later at the cabin. The portions are quite large. There are many great drives and hikes that allow you to take in the breath-taking scenery. I especially enjoyed seeing the deer that roamed freely through the neighborhood like cats. We were not familiar with Lake City before this trip. It is a beautiful place without the trappings of the typical tourist town. It was truly one of our best vacations ever. I highly recommend the town and this cabin. We hope to go back in the future.

Our stay at this home was beyond our expectations. It was a gorgeous, comfortable, very well-mainted retreat with all the extra ameneties. Beautifully decorated, we had everything at our desposal to have a relaxing vacation in the most lovely home away from home. The deer wandered onto the property daily, an unexpected treat, and we enjoyed walking to church on Sunday morning which only took very few minutes. Mocha Moose was our coffee "fix" every morning and we enjoyed the "Soda Fountain" also. We recommend this rental very highly and hope to return next year. Owners and management could not have been more friendly and helpful.

We just got back from Lake City about a week ago(August 2012). We were celebrating a friend's 40th birthday with a "guy's trip" which equates to lots of fly-fishing and relaxation. We all had seen this property on-line and were not disappointed in what we found when we arrived. The cabin is incredible . . a perfect Lake City location and so guest-friendly. Every possible "need" was met by the property and the property manager. The cabin was very clean, comfortable and open . . I really wouldn't change a thing. Also, the communication and transactions with the property owners were very easy, and they were always very responsive and thorough. Looking forward to our next visit to Lake City and this great cabin . . and more trout. Brady

My husband and I just spent a week at this cabin. It was wonderful. I highly recommend it for a couple with children. It is in the middle of Lake City, near the stores and coffee shops and near gorgeous mountain trails and fishing lakes and streams. We liked it so much we are renting it for the same week next year. Thanks for sharing your home with us. LL and ML

Myself, along with my wife and a few friends rented the home for three nights in January. The rental process was great...we dealt directly with the owners and we had access to in town caretakers. The home is stunning. The photos do not do the property justice...really great home, with great service. Quite honestly, we were blown away. We would absolutely rent this house again.

Just spent 9 delightful days in beautiful Lake City in one of the nicest "cabins" I have ever had the pleasure to stay in. Everything was so well thought out...wonderful amenities, well supplied and conveniently located! The views from the various windows....wonderful, especially after the snow made the landscape a winter wonderland. Completely enjoyable!!!! Cathy

Owner response: We're so glad that you enjoyed your stay. The very thing that attracted us to this cabin was its close proximity to town (and the river!). We enjoy walking to dinner, to the park, to get ice cream, and all along the beautiful walking trails through town. The new linens and towels have been a big hit as well. Thanks for your good feedback!

Owner response: Mid to late September is one of our favorite times to visit Lake City. The golden aspens are absolutely glorious then. Our favorite drive is up Henson Creek toward Capitol City (about 30 minutes one way). Be sure to take a good camera!

"Great pizzas and nachos (but be careful--the jalepenos are hotter than, well, you know . . . so get them on the side). The pizzas are cleverly named after the 14ers in the area -- and they are large pizzas. Save room for dessert. The flan is to die for and made there. The memorabilia on the walls dates back to the late 1800's. Just a fun place to check out. We go every trip and never get tired of it. They used to have fajitas on Friday night. If they ever bring those back, go for it. They're great and served family style."

We shoot for 7:30 and just enjoy visiting with the people. The pies are also wonderful -- but they should be ordered one day before to make sure you get one. This is a "do not miss" and will probably be one that you go back to the next morning! Definitely not for dieters. I'm sure they use real butter. :)"

"This place beats Starbuck's. It's a nice walk, especially on a crisp morning. I highly recommend that you get a cinnamon roll, too. The owner makes them fresh at 4 AM. We have had the mochas and lattes. But my favorite -- and I've never gotten it anywhere else -- is a chai latte. I had them add pumpkin for a pumpkin chai latter and voila, it's the best hot drink I've ever had. This is a fun place to sit for a few minutes and read or catch up on your e-mail. Just bring a laptop or your iPhone. You can stay all day if you'd like. I'm glad LC has such a neat little coffee shop. The flavor of the coffee speaks for itself. Better than Starbuck's. • San Juan Soda Co

"This is an old fashioned soda fountain where you can get "real" fountain drinks -- like a REAL cherry Coke. Or a real chocolate malt. The ice cream is great and the scoops are massive. The gift shop features some high end leather goods made in L.C. as well as some beautiful pottery and other intetersting wood pieces, belts, art, chimes, etc. They keep later hours during the summer months. They're located just off the city park which is really the heart of activity, especially over July 4th. Be prepared to keep going back."

              • Dan's Fly Shop

"Dan has been around Lake City for decades. I remember first meeting him 30 years ago with my grandfather, J.E. Vandiver. Dan makes beautiful rods and has an outstanding team of guides. We took our young boys for fly lessons one day. We just signed up for a half day for all 3. (My husband and I just chaperoned!). Anyway, the guides were excellent and the boys caught fish up on Big Blue. It was a great experience for all of us. They provider the poles and gear. Just pack a lunch, and take lots of water and suncreen. You'll see areas that you would have never known about by getting a guide. Well worth the time and resources if you have a half-day unfilled."

              • Loose Arrow Nursery & Landscaping

"Patti Lucero runs Loose Arrow (clever once you say it, huh?). She's only in Lake City for the summer. The store is actually outside believe it or not. Her plants and florals are unlike any we've seen anywhere. And they're all absolutely gorgeous. She has beautiful pots, arrangements, gifts -- and the finest plant specimens anywhere. She's also a gifted landscaper so ask lots of questions."

About the owner: Come and experience Colorado's best kept secret!

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Enjoy fly fishing along the riverfront or taking a 5-minute walk to one of the local coffee shops for an afternoon mocha. And the old fashioned ice cream parlor has the best ice cream, milk shakes, and banana splits in Colorado. An early morning hike to the base of Uncompahgre Peak (fourteener), fly fishing lessons, and hikes to the waterfalls of Cataract Gulch (past Lake San Cristobal) are our favorite memories.
