Welcome to Lush Life, a luxurious, newly constructed beachfront compound located directly on world-famous French Leave Beach. Lush Life was the setting for the 2010 Tyler Perry/Janet Jackson film, 'Why Did I Get Married Too', which was shot on location in the house and on its beach, pool, and grounds. Lush Life has a total of four structures with 10 bedrooms, 12 baths, 5 kitchens, beautifully landscaped grounds, and a large heated pool. Maid service three days a week is included.
Although completely private, Lush Life is just a five-minute walk down the beach from the Beach House restaurant, less than a mile from Tippy’s famous restaurant, and a mile from the town of Governors Harbour.
The houses at Lush Life were exquisitely designed and built to the most exacting standards of workmanship. They feature Brazilian hardwood floors, cypress cedar ceilings, custom tile, electronic mini-split air-conditioning systems, and decor by one of the Bahamas’ premier interior designers.
Lush Life is rented to just one group at a time. The compound consists of the following structures:
The Main House: This magnificent Bahamian Colonial mansion has 4 king bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, and sleeps 8. The large great room, hall, formal dining room, and expansive veranda look directly out upon French Leave Beach, one of the most beautiful in the Caribbean. The extraordinary kitchen would satisfy any master chef, and is designed to handle the largest dinner parties. It is equpped with two large refrigerators, giant freezer, gas range, and more.
The Guest Cottage: This 2-bedroom Colonial cottage overlooks the pool and has ocean views. It has a full kitchen and 2 1/2 baths, and is connected to the Bunk Room and Studio Apartment.
The Bunk Room: This structure, connected to the Guest Cottage on one side and the Studio Apartment on the other, consists of a large bedroom and private bathroom. The bedroom is furnished with 3 bunk beds and 3 trundle beds, sleeping up to 9 children.
The Studio Apartment: This cozy cottage with views across the pool at the beach and ocean, is linked to the Bunk Room. It has a large living/bedroom area with a four-poster bed, a kitchen, and a private bathroom.
The Pool Cabana: This bright one-bedroom house is on the beach and beside the pool. It has a king bedroom, a large living room, and a full kitchen and bath.
The Gardener’s Cottage: This charming cottage is a studio with a queen bed, mini-kitchen, and full bath. There is an extra charge of $500/week for use of the Gardener's Cottage, which is generally only used for large groups requiring a 10th bedroom.
The compound will be rented to only one group at a time.
Lush Life comes with everything you need to enjoy your stay on Eleuthera including flat-screen satellite TVs with DVD players, high-speed internet with WIFI, desktop computer, free VOIP telephone line, kayak, surfboards, books, and games. Outdoor amenities include a heated pool, Jacuzzi hot tub, and outdoor dining area with gas grill. Lush Life comes with housekeeping 3 times a week. A cook and other staff are available for an additional charge.
Lush Life is located directly on French Leave Beach, an idyllic, mile-long, crescent-shaped, pink-sand beach. There are only half a dozen houses on the entire length of this spectacular beach, among the most famous in the Bahamas. The surf is very mild, protected by a large reef system that parallels the shore. The water on French Leave Beach is literally crystal clear: with no rivers or streams on the island, Eleuthera’s seas are free of sediment and among the clearest in the world. Just offshore from Lush Life is an excellent reef for snorkeling, inhabited by angelfish, parrot fish, wrasses, butterfly fish, and many other colorful species.
In addition to the Beach House tapas restaurant and bar (a short walk down the beach), Tippy’s famous beachside restaurant is just a mile away. Both Tippy’s and the Beach House offer fine dining and live entertainment. Other upscale restaurants within easy driving distance include The Bistro at Sky Beach Club and Cocodimama. The town of Governors Harbour, a mile away, has a charming collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking its historic harbor. The recently restored Haynes Library, which dates from 1897, hosts a weekly coffee hour for foreign residents and tourists. Governors Harbour has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, two banks with ATMs, a bakery, gift shops, a dive shop, and a medical clinic. Friday Night Fish Fry in Governors Harbour, a street/beach party that brings together all the tourists and locals with food, drink, and dancing in the street, is not to be missed.
The island of Eleuthera is famous for its 100 miles of spectacular, deserted beaches. The island, home to just 8000 residents, is completely safe any time of the day or night. The snorkeling, diving, and fishing on the island are world class. Boating, surfing, and other water sports are also popular. There is excellent sightseeing as well. Eleuthera has vast caves, cliffs, a bottomless ocean hole, many unique beaches, historic churches and 19th century homes, and small villages to explore. We hope you will enjoy our Lush Life, and experience all our island has to offer.

This was the first time we ventured into the the world of vacation home rentals. We were quite apprehensive having become accustomed to staying at nice resorts we always knew we could depend on. Upon pulling up and seeing the home we were immediately impressed at how lovely and well maintained it was. The description was spot on and if anything the the pictures did not depict how nice the property actually is. The location is beyond perfect. We spent fabulous days lingering on the beach, swimming and snorkeling in the protected cove even being treated to visits from dolphins. The customer service was impeccable and our party of 27 was well catered to every day. Although we were more often than not content to stay on the lovely grounds, we were always asked if we needed anything or if dinner reservations could be made for us. The cliff diving expedition near Leaping Lizard Restaurant was a highlight for all. We would definitely recommend the property and although I rarely like vacationing in a place more than once I think we will be back to Lush Life in the future. Everyone in our party said it was the vacation of a lifetime.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Lush Life was the perfect destination to celebrate my husband's 40th with friends and family. Although Eleuthra is indeed a quiet island, everyone is ready and willing to help guide you in your stay and Harbour Island (a bit more built up and very cute) is just an hour's drive + 5 min ferry away from Governor's Harbour. With a beach that is practically private, crystal clear water, a pool, 8 king/ queen-size bedrooms + ensuite baths, 4 of which have kitchenettes, and a bunk room, our party of 18 were all able to enjoy privacy and space when desired during the week. The kitchen is open plan with a beautiful island/bar with seating and a great booth like table + 2 huge refrigerator/freezers and two dishwashers. We wanted for nothing in the kitchen utensils and appliance arenaThe dining room can comfortably seat 14 and is elegant. There is a t.v room with dvd and comfy sofas where the wi-fi is best, but we hardly used it with the amazing views and access to the beach and ocean, and JJ the care-taker was there to help us with anything at all times. Lush Life is spacious, well appointed, tasteful, clean, comfortable and overall impressive. There are two grocery stores in downtown Governor's Harbour, be advised food is expensive, as are restaurants. But having advanced notice helps to plan. Cash and travelers checks are encouraged and accepted, though there is an ATM in town. We cooked our own meals most of the time as there was so much fresh seafood available from fishermen who fished just off our beach: fresh lobster, grouper, conch! Fresh greens are hard to find, but there are a couple of local farms that are a 30 min drive away but worth a visit. There is also a grill that made everything so easy! The estate manager provided great service, answering questions quickly and throughly, with great suggestions and advice for our stay. Also just a walk up the beach from Lush Life is a great lunch place --everything is beach casual, food is fresh, drinks are good. Would definitely consider returning for a family reunion destination or another big party get-away! Our entire group cannot believe what a wonderful time we had!Did you find this review helpful? Wow! 16 of us just returned from Lush Life and our maiden voyage to Eleuthera. We weren't sure what to expect and what we would encounter. Total leap of faith. Well, to sum it up, we were blown away bythe island's beauty, the natives' charm, the comfortable climate and the grandeur of Lush Life. Lush Life was more than we expected. It provides all the comforts one would want and expect of a first class property all the while we felt like we were on a nearly deserted island. We highly recommend Lush LIfe and Eleuthera for those wanting to escape to a quiet, beautiful setting and relax in paradise. The satellite TV and wi-fi are there if you want to stay informed of world events, but Eleuthera is for those seeking to get away from it all...from stress and from crowds. We had plenty of room at Lush LIfe, remian amazed that eight couples each had their own king sized bedroom and bath and a kitchen any chef would covet. The caretaker (JJ) is close by and ready to help with any issues or questions. We were mildly disappointed the hot tub had been removed, but managed to get by. All in all, a great trip and we look forward to returning next year!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

Our family selected Lush Life to celebrate my parents 70th birthdays and we were not disappointed. Our group ranged from 14-17 people throughout the week and ranged in age from 2 to 74 and, without exception, everyone had a great time. The staff was courteous and helpful and Forty was always available and willing to assist in any way he could. We spent a great deal of time planning our trip and as a result had high expectations, which were exceeded by the house and the location. I would highly recommend Lush Life for large family gatherings. You will be had pressed to find a better total package than Lush Life.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 10/10

Lush Life absolutely exceeded our expectations!!! We were a group gathering to celebrate my mother's 70th birthday and ranged in age from 20 months to 71 years old! The house is absolutely as promised and then some. The layout is excellent, the amount of space in the common areas- living rooms, dining room, kitchen etc is great for a large group and the bedrooms including the outer cottages were terrific! The furnshings are beautiful and luxurious, the owners have spared no expense in outfitting the entire property in comfortable, attractive furniture, artwork and all home furnishings. The kitchen is outfitted with truly EVERYTHING you could need. THere are two refrigerators and a full size freezer which is great for a large group, and for keeping fish caught on ice until cooked! There is also a large wine fridge with about a 30 bottle capacity which our group took full advantage of. The location of the house on French Leave Beach is ideal. Just minutes from Governors Harbor for necessities, groceries, liquor store, bank, fish fry etc. but the setting on the beach is idyllic. It is by far the nicest house on the road. The beach was perfect for our group, older kids could surf (the house includes two surfboards and a two person kayak) and our 20 month old could run in and out of the surf on calm days for hours without worry of undertoe or waves. The beach access that runs along the side of the house got busy on good fishing mornings and families coming to the beach for the day but the availabilty of fresh fish straight from the boat outweighed any negative impact. Eleuthera especially GH is quiet, and yes its as expensive as everyone says regarding groceries etc, they have to ship EVERYTHING there. But the expense keeps the riff raff off the island, without giving the visitors an elite feel. Its not the country club set of Harbor Island but its also FAR AWAY from spring breakers of Nassau. Must does: Paul Petty for fishing, Brenda and Andrew Demeritte for cooking, Tippys for drinks and dinner, Fish Fry on Fridays, Banks Road Deli for hot croissants in the morning, for an adventure visit the Cape Eluethera Insitute on the Southern End, and Harbor Island is a great day trip to ride around in Golf carts and see the "beautiful people" fun for a day but not who i want to vacation with for two weeks. All in all Eleuthera and LUSH LIFE will provide you with a vacation you will NEVER forget! THank you!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 17/19

Lush Life is the most beautiful home on the island. We had a group of 18 people and everyone had their own space. The pink beach is amazing, the water turquoise blue, with unbelievable coral reefs. We kayaked, snorkeled, swam and fished every day. We bought lobsters and fish daily, which our cooks, Brenda and Andrew cooked with island flair. The heated pool is a dream when the sun goes down, the breeze and the view could not be better. The Beach House Restaurant, a 2 block walk on the beach, has live music 2 times a week, perfect with a rum runner after dinner. Forty, the caretaker was always available, taking care of our every need. Daily housekeeping was wonderful, we had a blissful week. We hope to return to Lush Life yearly!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 20/22

Great house, beautiful beach in Eleuthera! Perfect for a large family or group with children. If you are looking for lots of action or nightlife, Eleuthera is not for you. We only left the house for the Friday night fish fry and to go to the grocery store. The pink sandy beach and turquoise water were great for shell collecting and swimming with the little ones. Highly recommend if you are looking for a low key, relaxing vacation!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.
