About this property

Private Cottage Nestled in the Jungle, Above the Rocky Shore.

The dream of finding that private spot, nestled in the jungle among nature and wildlife, is fulfilled by a stay in Casa Selva at Osa Vistas. Sit on the porch overlooking the Pacific shoreline, whitewater playing on the rocks below. Watch the toucans and a myriad of bird life pass right by. White face and Howler monkey's, sloths and pizotes are frequently seen passing through the canopy overhead.

The villa is removed from the hustle and bustle, not only of 'back home', but the feeling of being removed from the world is palpable. Numerous guests have commented on the 'therapeutic affect' of Casa Selva. You truly unwind here. You can enjoy solitude on your balcony or visit our porch/pool area to exchange adventure stories. Because there is only one other rental casa on our property it is always an intimate gathering! When we are not available, and the guests ask for a referral to something similar, we are hard-pressed to come up with the answer. There simply isn't one.

From Casa Selva you can drive 15 minutes to either the world famous surf town of Dominical, or the thriving community of Uvita, complete with grocery stores, banks, ATMs, pharmacies, etc. Numerous sites and activities are all around: horseback waterfall tours, whale and dolphin tours, sport fishing, turtle vigilance, diving, surfing, ATV tours, animal sanctuary, the list goes on. Or, how about some quiet time on your porch with a good book? A stay at Casa Selva includes access to the pool, which overlooks the entire southern coastline all the way to the Osa Peninsula...hence our property name!

Keywords: honeymoon, romantic getaway, jungle hideaway, additional jungle villas available if needed. Secluded in nature for privacy, but close enough to beaches, surfing, waterfalls, horseback riding, zip-lining, nature reserves, fabulous restaurants and spas, snorkeling and scuba, etc...

Beautiful view, Pacific Ocean and forest
Waking up in the morning was awesome, as the jungle was coming to life. The last day we were able to get photos of a Macaw in a tree very close to the porch (where we sat every morning an enjoyed our morning coffee) and I captured the sound of a Howler Monkey who had been making noises all morning. Unfortunately, we never did see itthough each day it was closer to us than the day before.

Great Little Place - Budget Friendly
Great place if you are looking for a place to stay on a budget. The pool and the view from the pool were awesome! Could have used a few more lights along the pathway to the house. and near the parking area. All in all a great experience.

The Costa Rica Experience I Was Seeking
After a 4x4 only journey up the mountain, you arrive at an amazing destination with hosts to match. The Casa is surrounded by dense jungle flora with fauna visiting on their own schedule. I loved the constant, ever changing jungle sounds. The Casa is comfortable, private and safe. Access to the hosts' pool was appreciated and was used daily. The drive up and down the mountain almost (almost) became routine and once down on Rt 34, you are minutes from Uvita, Bahia and Domincal with the rest of the Southern Pacific Zone area just beyond. Diane could not have been a more welcoming and helpful host. If you're looking for a memorable jungle hideaway for one or two people, this is definitely one to consider. Wish I could have stayed longer.

perfect!
I researched many options in planning a trip to Costa Rica. This property caught my eye immediately, and the experience was better than I imagined. Diane was EXTREMELY helpful in planning from start to finish. Her directions were very detailed (otherwise would have gotten lost) and included places to visit along the way to the Casa. We arrived after dark but still found it. The Casa is OPEN AIR (screened) - exactly what you want in CR. You can hear all the sounds of cicadas, ocean, rain, and the howler monkeys. Okay, the howler monkeys were loud (VERY BRIEFLY) and make an unearthly noise (Chewbacca undergoing extreme torture?). I was glad Diane prepared us for this! The Casa is at the top of a mountain RIGHT next to the ocean. The views driving up the mountain are SPECTACULAR. If you're inclined to run, there are some hilly(!!) options right outside the door. Dominical is about 10-15 minutes away and provides stores where you can purchase necessities and several good restaurants. The beach there is rocky but lovely. There are other good beach options nearby. Manuel Antonio is about 45 minutes away (CLOSED on Mondays). Diane provided helpful information on local places to visit (beach, restaurants, stores, etc). VISIT PIZZA TIME!! BEST dining experience in CR. We did not cook, but it was nice to have a full-sized fridge. Jolly Roger is a 5 minute drive away on top of the mountain -- EXCELLENT ambiance and food. We enjoyed spending time with Diane and Peter (and Derby and Luna!!). The Casa is VERY PRIVATE and felt extremely safe as well. The shower....sigh!! Open air (with screen) plus the view. SERIOUSLY, go see this place. We are already eager to go back!!

Why they chose this property

We did one long trip thru Costa Rica & fell in love with this area in particular & thought it would appeal to other travelers like us so, here we are! We really love and enjoy, the hospitality biz so now we live and work at what we love to do. Peter spends hours in the gardens, he loves to plant things that grow unbelievably quickly! We're here to help with what ever the guests may need & yet give you total privacy at your casita.

What makes this property unique

This is a place to let your hair down, relax and enjoy nature. Because we are so close to the jungle (indeed we have a large amount on our property), you will see more wildlife here than in other rentals. Both howler & white faced monkeys frequently use our trees as a path from one valley to another.

You can conveniently do as much or as little as you like while you're here. It's a very central location for the area.
