The house perfectly the needs of our nine person group. We spent Spring Release weekend here and found it a good home base for our weekend of wine tasting. It's about .8 miles from the core of downtown, where we had breakfast every morning - walkable, but if you are heading out for your daily activities right afterwards, might want to plan on driving. My only (small) complaints are that the shower in the first floor bathroom needed to be more throuougly cleaned before we arrived. Also, the mats in both the showers soaked up a lot of water, and seemed to trap a lot of standing water. Perhaps rubber mats would be a better idea? These two things wouldn't stop me from renting this house again, however.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Everything was perfect in this rental! Great location within walking distance of downtown. Great beds and a perfect backyard for wine tasting and Bar-b-Que!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: I grew up on a farm near Walla Walla and still live in the country. After college, I travelled around Europe almost 4 years. Between the 3 trips that I took there, I drove truck and combine in wheat harvest in the Walla Walla Valley to earn my college and travel money. Those were the good ole days when $1.25 an hour went a long way. In fact, twice I flew from Seattle to London for $100 one way. With a degree in Spanish from the University of Washington (Seattle) and a teaching certificate, I taught school briefly. I found that I loved teaching, but students didn’t love learning. Then I married Bud, the love of my life (who died in 2009). After that, I went to Whitworth College (Spokane) for my Master’s Degree in Applied Behavioral Sciences (business consulting and counseling.) Ten years later I started a computer training, database development, and repair business that my husband joined. We met lots of wonderful people who were so grateful when we got their computers or printers working again or taught them how to use a computer program. My mother was my first client…and I still help her occasionally when she gets stuck. She is 89! In 2006, I got my real estate license and have worked hard to update, repair, stage, and sell every home since then. It is a very satisfying profession that takes a lot of hours to help a lot of great people. I especially enjoy listening to clients and helping them get to their next chapter in life.
Why the Owner Chose Walla Walla:
As a realtor, I am passionate about updating, repairing, and staging homes because they sell faster for more money. At two real estate conferences that I attended in 2010, two speakers urged realtors to invest our IRA money into real estate within the IRA since we understand real estate and the market. I read the book, Leverage Your IRA, by Matt Allen, and decided I'd give it a try since the economic conditions for buying real estate are perfect: low interest rates, high inventory, a slow market, and owners eager to sell.
In January 2011, I bought a two-bedroom house near Whitman College and downtown Walla Walla. My contractors totally renovated the basement by adding three bedrooms, a bath, a utility room with a new washer and dryer, new windows, new heating and air-conditioning, and a breakfast nook with microwave, sink, mini-fridge, and table.
Now the house has five bedrooms, two baths, and is adorable!

Sipping hot chocolate or a delicious cup of coffee is a great way to wake up at Park Place. On Saturday mornings, take a walk downtown to the Farmers Market or check out other activities downtown. Every day of the week, there are lots of great places for a tasty lunch or pick up a carryout lunch and hike to one of the 30-some parks in Walla Walla.
During the afternoon, go shopping downtown, take a hike around Bennington Lake, or work out at the YMCA, which is just down the street to the north. For dinner, you'll find many delightful restaurants that will meet your discerning tastes. After dinner, relax on the patio, watch TV on the 42-in set in front of the fireplace, go to a movie, or take in the theater. Whatever your plans, you'll find Park Place to be the perfect home away from home.
