Paradise found—beach bums soak up the sun
Give in to the temptation of laid-back island living and simply unwind in your Skopelos vacation rental. Set in the western Aegean Sea, the Greek island offers a diverse landscape, with sheer cliffs dropping down to tiny beaches, and green mountains and sweeping plains dominating the interior. The island is home to a flurry of picturesque villages, but the largest one, also called Skopelos, is a hillside town with a castle and a host of whitewashed churches. Ferries pour into the port city daily and the landscape buzzes with active restaurants, hotels, bars, and shops.
Plenty of R&R on tap—when life's just a day at the beach
Enjoy a leisurely day in Agnondas, a quaint fishing hamlet with waterfront bars. The town is home to one of the island's few sandy beaches, where you can sunbathe or take a dip in the warm waters, before ending the day watching the sunset. Nature lovers can use the island's trail system to climb mountain summits and take in panoramic views of the surrounding islands. Get behind the wheel of a rental car and set out for a scenic drive, or don your captain's hat and rent a motor boat to tour the coast.
Wet winters to sunny summers—island weather runs the gamut
Skopelos offers a Mediterranean climate but you'll be skipping the beach in the winter when highs hover in the low 50s and the temperature of the Aegean Sea also falls. Winters also brings the occasional burst of cold air, along with the most rainfall in December and January. Temperatures climb to the 70s by late spring, but by summer, the island is dry and sunny, with daytime highs in the 80s. The sea temperature warms up to the mid-70s in the summer as well. Early fall is mild, until the rain starts falling again in November.
Emerald hills and sapphire waters in this jewel of an island
Book a Skopelos vacation rental anywhere on the Greek island and you'll find yourself surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Lush green mountains fill the western and eastern end of the island, including Delphi, the island's tallest mountain with a summit of 2,234 feet. Sheer cliff walls give the island a dramatic coastline, while pine forests, orchards, olive tree groves, and fields of wild flowers grace the interior. Wildlife thrives on the island, as more than 60 species of birds fly overhead and the waters teem with fish.
