Our Chalet style Lake Home is a beautiful getaway to escape the everyday. Floor to peaked ceilings houses an impressive 21 foot window wall with an amazing view of our private sandy beachfront and our well appointed dock, all framed by the length of Otter Lake and the surrounding hills.
Standing on the North West shore of Otter Lake just through the town of Tulameen, The Alder is outfitted with everything you could think of and more. Our Lake Home is well provisioned, well maintained, spacious, clean, offers ample parking, with an impressively large and inviting deck. Our Chalet sleeps a maximum of twelve in four bedrooms and loft accommodations complete with three full bathrooms. From tranquil to full on adventure, there is something for everyone at The Alder at Otter Lake.
Tulameen and Otter Lake are located at some 2700 feet above sea level and nestled in the Eastern side of the Coastal Mountain range, just 23km North West of Princeton and some 70km South of Merritt in the Southern Okanagan - Similkameen region of British Columbia.
Getting to the Alder is easy. From Vancouver take the Trans Canada Hi-way to Hope and from Hope, take the No.3 Highway, the Crow's Nest, through scenic Manning Park to Princeton. Once into Princeton, follow Bridge Street through town and across the river on the old one-way wooden bridge. Turn left and follow the signs to Tulameen. The town of Tulameen is located some 25 minutes from Princeton. Make sure you turn right at the stop sign at Coalmont and drive past the old Coalmont Hotel. Once you come to the Tulameen General Store, stay on the main road going north through town then left along the west side of the lake.

We had a perfect few nights at this well maintained, fully equipped cottage. Even though the weather wasn't perfect, we were able to enjoy the dock, the lake and the campfire. Thank you for making us feel so welcome, we certainly will be back!

We would highly recommend the Alder Chalet in Tulameen. Our Summer holiday at the Alder at Otter Lake was one of the most relaxing and best vacation experiences we have ever had. Firstly, the Chalet is beautifully laid out, spacious, clean, well stocked and truly inviting. We were so amazed at how relaxed and at home the Alder and its decor made us feel. The owners should be proud of this gem. The property slopes nicely down to the waterfront beach and large dock. The kids spent the majority of their time playing on the beach and swimming. The dock extends out far enough to accomodate boats even during low water in mid August. The Tulameen area has so many activities and outdoorsy things to do, that you could stay busy for two weeks, if you really wanted to. We probably rode a couple hundred KM on our ATV's and we only saw a portion of the surrounding hills. We are looking forward to coming back next year!

There are many holiday spots, but then there is "The Alder on Otter Lake". By far and away the best family vacation spot that we have found. Fantastic accomodation and a perfect location for small children to safely play in the water while the adults enjoy a cold beverage or two on the dock or deck throughout the day and well into the evening as the sun is setting. We had an amazing time and really enjoyed every aspect of our stay, including the fine folks at the "Trading Post". Also, a big "thank you" is in order ABBA Towing for sending out their best man to get us back into our into our minivan on a hot, hot Sunday afternoon! Otter Lake is our new summer home and we plan on spending at least one week each summer at this hidden jewel.

Year Purchased: 2010
About the owner: We purchased this beautiful property with the long term in mind, so our children and friends could build treasured lifetime memories in this setting.
Why the Owner Chose Tulameen:
This well appointed and beautifully finished Chalet is in the ideal location, located close to the city of Vancouver (3.5 hours) in an area that will have limited future growth. The outdoors, the adventure of exploration, riding ATV's and snowmobiling, the amount of activities available were a huge attraction.
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet:
The Kettle Valley railway and Trans Canada Trail run through the area, directly across Otter lake from our place. This is truly a four season vacation destination.
