Xanadu, more than just a luxurious oasis of comfort, it welcomes you into a world of service, lush surroundings, tranquility and relaxation. After being picked up at the airport Airport you are greeted at the door by Xanadu's housekeeper. During your stay she will attend to cooking, cleaning, laundry and shopping. She will show you the suites and other areas of the residence. The suites are private and equipped with Jacuzzi, flat screen TVs, comfortable bedding including 800 to 1200 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets and a decor you will love.
Knowing you are probably tired after a long flight we will attend to most details in the morning and let you get some sleep. You can get something from the kitchen if you like. Just let us know when you'd like breakfast and we'll have it ready. Sleep well.
During your stay our housekeeper will be responsible to see that you do nothing. She will do it for you. She will be there as you please and leave you to privacy if you ask. She's a good cook, knows how to set up and prepare a barbecue, takes care of your laundry while you're out and does grocery shopping even before you arrive. If you need a baby sitter she's good at that, too!
Apart from her responsibilities our mission will be to make you aware of the many activities such as tours, places to visit, things to do in and around Granada. We don't want you to miss out. Once you let us know what you'd like to do we'll arrange it. Usually you can do two planned outings per day, leaving several hours at midday to come back, plunge into the pool, take a nap, eat lunch and relax.
Other services include a cell phone which you may use during your stay. Plus each suite has its own private phone line enabled to direct dial to the USA, Canada and most other countries. Private means your family or office may call you directly, and if you are out it will take a voice message. You can also use our business center for e mailing, computing, printing, scanning and copying. Our numbers are programmed the cell phone for easy communication. During your stay call us anytime for advice, a translation or a request.
The residence is unique with many gardens, a colorful fountain, various seating areas that merge into the social area by the pool. Here is a dining area, a barbecue, and various places to relax or take a nap, go for a swim or listen to music which plays directly from your iPhone or smart phone. It is cozy but it will also seat up to twenty guests. Xanadu is spacious. From the entrance to the pool area takes up the length of one half the length of a city block.
If you are looking for value for your money compare Xanadu to any hotel or bed & breakfast. Suites, including all taxes an extras, are currently $100 per night with a minimum 2-night stay. If you rent two suites for $100 each we give you the third suite for free when you stay for 4 days or more. That is correct: $200 per night sleeps up to 10 guests when you book 4 nights or more. Book between now and August 31st for any time over the next 12 months and lock in this special offer. Just fill out the vrbo form stating your name, phone number and preferred dates. Mention the special offer. Don't wait. We'll get back to you within 24 hours. So do it now before you forget.

Casa Xanadu was an experience in itself ! While its as comfortable as being at your own home, Douglass and Maria ensure that it feels as luxurious as any 5 star hotel. We were a bunch of grad school friends who rented the entire villa. Surprisingly we spent equal amounts of time exploring the city and just chilling in the indoor pool. For me, it were the small touches that made it a dream stay - like the surround sound music system, fully stocked pantry, the cell phone and amazing service at El Jaguan once we mentioned Casa Xanadu. Maria's cooking is excellent and her breakfast and coffee is to die for ! The place itself is away from the hustle bustle but at a walking distance from the centre of activity. If I were to ever go back to Granada, I would refuse to stay at any other place than Casa Xanadu !Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.

Beautiful home, very well maintained and great service. The exterior living area is an oasis with palms, fountains, pool and many sitting areas where you can take in the gorgeous architecture of the home . Home is furnished really nice. The pool area is just beautiful every detail has been very well designed. My children 3 & 6 really enjoyed the pool and so did we. We had comfortable beds and linens as mentioned in other reviews and great coffee all very important to me to be happy. The owner Douglass was very helpful in guiding us to good restaurants in the area, and there are good ones. I would trust his opinion as he lives in Granada and tries them himself. I feel very lucky to have found this house for our family vacation and dream of coming back for a longer stay!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

After a 4 hour bus ride getting to Granada, we walked into Xanadu and knew this was where we wanted to spend the last 3 days of our vacation. Propietor Doug immediately welcomed us and began giving us a tour of this beautiful Casa. Being that it was so warm, our eyes went right to the lovely pool in the back enclosed courtyard. You will appreciate having a pool in Granada but this pool was gorgeous. Surrounded by gardens, many seating areas and a beautiful mural, this private, crystal clear pool was refreshing after a day of sight-seeing or a quick dip in the night. Our suite that Doug picked for us was comfortable for us 3 middle aged retired Flight Attendants. We have stayed in many hotels and know what makes a nice room and Xanadu has it. Nice towels, bed linens, ceiling fans, beautiful furniture, flat screen TV, Remote control AC, telephone, art work and the wall colors that are georgeous. And above all else...CLEAN. Within an hour, Doug had helped us set up our tours for the next 2 days. . He introduced us to Maria who would be cooking our breakfast each morning and other meals on request. Maria is very sweet and she makes great coffee. I asked her is there was any Kleenex and the next thing I know, she has gone to the store to get me a box. We mostly had the whole Casa to ourselves. This would be a wonderful place for families or friends to stay at. Warm evening spent pool-side or hours spent relaxing in the beautiful corridor outside each room. Wi-fi was available through out the house and worked great. There is also a business center for guest use. Having Doug help us and recommend tours was very helpful and put to full use of our time and money. We basically had our own tour guide for 2 days in an AC car. Doug knows Granada and his suggestions on what to see and how and when to go, was the best advice overall.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so very much girls! You made my day just being so appreciative. Come back soon.

Just returned from my stay in Granada at Casa Xanadu and what can I say but awesome!!! . I would call it concierge service if I had to describe the quality and experience. There was nothing that the owner could not accomplish, from assisting me with tours, business, and dinners. Anyone going to Casa Xandu will truly experience what I call concierge service. Now to Casa Xanadu. The property is just wonderful. As close to a Four Seaons experience that you could ask for with all the privacy of a private home. How can I describe the wonderful breakfasts that were made every morning. The cappuccino's are amazing. Every suite is just beautiful and the way that owner has decorated the place is just amazing. After a long day of seeing all the amazing sights in Granada (ie. Lake Nicaragua, Zip line adventure at Mount Mochambo, Lake Apoyo and much more) there was nothing like coming home to Casa Xanadu, take a swim in the wonderful pool turn on some music and just kick back with either a beer or some wine. I can amagine that some people might not even leave pardise but they would be missing quite a bit. Xanadu is only two short blocks from the center of Granada where all the action is. From the central plaza with all its goings on, to the street where all the clubs and many restaurants are. Management knew the owners and I received personal attention, the best table, and great food and service everywhere I went. All I had to do was mention Casa Xanadu and it was like magic. I can't wait to return, and I know that I have made dear friends with everyone at Casa Xanadu.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

What a great week we had at Casa Xanadu. The property lacked nothing. My husband and I rented the whole place and it was amazing. We felt like we were in a palace. Absolutely beautiful decor! At night we would sit in the courtyard and listen to music under the stars on the fabulous sound system. In the early afternoon, the hottest part of the day, we would cool off in the pool. Douglass was an incredible host. Anything we needed, he provided and then some! We could not have asked for more personalized service. The kitchen had everything you would have at home. We did some cooking on our own as my husband loves to BBQ and all we had to do is let Douglass know what we needed and it would appear in our fridge. No extra charges except for the cost of the food purchased. In the mornings we would have Maria make our breakfast. She makes awesome ham and cheese omlettes! She also made several other meals for us. What a lovely lady. Did laundry for us twice. Thank you so much Maria. We were truly living the dream! Thank you again Douglass for everything. Hope we can make it there again sometime. This amazing villa cannot go without comment on my part. I found its appearance exceeded the professional photos available on the website. Granada is an incredible vacation destination that is poised to further explode with globetrotters within a couple of years, and this place will easily be able to command three times the current price. Casa Xanadu is a destination unto itself. We stayed seven days and often just wanted to relax in the luxurious trappings of this updated Colonial era villa. Casa Xanadu has expansive gardens, a salt water pool, incredibly high ceilings and is adorned with works of art from the owner’s world travels. It merits a feature in a travel Magazine. The housekeeper, Maria, is more like a guest relations manager. She assisted us with shopping on our first day, prepared meals and made a cappuccino that any barista in a five star hotel would be proud to serve. This a large place, with three large master bedroom suites, flat screens, Jacuzzi tubs, ample indoor and outdoor seating areas, a barbeque, gourmet kitchen and steps away from many shops and the restaurant district. We have many friends who rely on our recommendations before making their travel plans as they know how picky we are. This place exceeded every expectation. Casa Xanadu set the bar very high for our next vacation. We may even break tradition and return next year.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

I cannot express in words the beauty of this amazing palace! I was speechless even before entering the grand 20+ ft entry doors at the sound of the bells ringing at the beautiful San Francisco church directly across from the house. Magical. Then we entered this magical oasis and it was 5 star bliss all the way. No joke. Gorgeous pool, lighting, furniture etc. I rented out all 3 bedrooms. They are gigantic. The outdoor living area and huge pool was awesome along with the awsome sound system/iPod friendly LOUD speakers. Location couldnt be better. Probably the best in all of granada. The house has great soothing energy and nice breeze. Very open. Beautiful fountains gardens and colors. Felt so safe and relaxed. The beds, oh the beds.... They were wow. Linens pillows everything. I went on morning runs out the front door through the calzada and down to the lake every morning. Unbelievable. I wanted to bring Maria the housekeeper back home with me, don't know how I am going to function with out her (laundry groceryshoppin etc) Douglas the owner is a saint. The entire town knows the guy. I am usually a Four seasons, Ritz etc person, this house was at that level and more. The pictures do it NO justice I could go on and on.... But I'll stop ;) think you get the point.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: I translated this review for Maria, who actually is that helpful and pleasant. And lovely too. Her dark eyes widened when I got to the comment about her by name. She listened intently, blushed for a moment and then a slight smile. That was all. She never said a word.

Beautifully restored colonial mansion in a perfect location in central historic Granada. An oasis of quiet and comfort - just two of us rented the whole place for 8 days and had a great time - would be ideal for a family or group of friends as there are three large bedroom suites, full well-equipped kitchen, decent size pool, bbq, a/c, cable tv, phone, etc. - everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. Maria, the house-keeper, is lovely and will do as much - or as little - as you need - daily cleaning, shopping & cooking if you want. The owner is very nice and easily reachable for advice, and is truly interested in making his guests comfortable. We've rented a lot of houses around the world and would highly recommend this one! Granada makes a good base, so you can stay here and do all sorts of day trips/adventures.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

About the owner: Xanadu has been named after Marco Polo's 13th century report of the fantastic palace of Kublai Khan in Shangdu, China. Xanadu became the English pronunciation of Shangdu. We use it as an inspiration to provide palace-like atmosphere and service in this Central American tropical climate.
Why the Owner Chose Granada:
Casa Xanadu is centrally located in Granada's historic district across the street from one of the major landmarks: Convento San Francisco Church & Museum. From our door you are within 2 to 3 blocks of everything including restaurants, bars, night clubs, ice cream parlors, pizzerias, museums, etc.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Casa Xanadu is unlike any residence of its kind because it provides the ultimate is services while its architecture lends itself to space and privacy. The suites are quiet and spacious and have every amenity imaginable from Jacuzzi, A/C, private phone lines, laundry service, breakfast, grocery shopping, and full time on site housekeeping daily. It is child friendly with a long corridor that leads to a wonderful deep swimming pool where one may escape the heat plunging into nearly 6 feet of chlorine free water.
