With tons of things to do like: you can stroll to museums, galleries, restaurants, go shopping, or the grocery store. Ski 1/2 hour drive up the mountain from Thanksgiving through the first week of April at Santa Fe's Ski Basin just 20-30 minutes away. There are seven lifts, 43 trails, 1650 vertical feet. They have complete rentals and lessions. Average snow fall is 225 inches of powder per year. This year started well with great early snow fall. The best in the country! They also make snow! You can also go sledding with the kids at nearby locations. Come home and relax in the big bubbling hot tub with foot massage jets before you gather for drinks on the front portal. You can enjoy a fabulous dinner at one of Santa Fe's amazing restaurants or use our gas grill or BBQ for your own homestyle meals.
Built in the 1950's and totally remodeled in 2010, Casa Bonita is beautifully furnished in Southwest Style, plush sofas and firm beds. Original art by New Mexico artists, richly colored rugs brighten the oak floors throughout. Hand plastered tinted walls and a nice big fireplace add ambiance. The great room has 12 foot ceilings with large beams and Corbals that open to a very large granite kitchen. There are beautiful thick, colorful Tibetin rugs on oak plank floors. We have a 55 inch flat panel HDTV on the Great Room wall with DVD player.
The kitchen is fully equipped with gas cook top,cooking utensils, new appliances and spices. We have a crock pot, large pots and pans and an assortment of baking dishes. Fine robes will give you a luxurious experience. There are flower gardens in the front and back yards too.
The house is ready to entertain you with all that you need, including stereo system, 4 large flat screen cable TV's, music CDs, and a video collection. Free high speed cable modem with wireless router. Laundry with detergent, iron and ironing board.
The Portal, the big covered front porch has an outside dining and sitting area. Games and puzzles are supplied. The kitchen is fully equipped with beautiful multi color granite countertops, cooking utensils, new appliances, china and flatware for 12. table cloths, napkins, place mats, and kitchen towels are all provided.
Off-street parking for 4 cars on-site, more on El Alamo Ave. next to Casa Bonita. There is plenty of parking at Casa Bonita, a rarity in Santa Fe!

* 7 night minimum over Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years. Thanksgiving is $700/night for up to 10 people. add $50/night over 10 people.
* Shorter bookings accepted for infill year-round, and also within 1 month of arrival.
* Last minute DISCOUNTS for bookings within two weeks of arrival.
* $300 cleaning fee. Weekly cleaning at $200 for muti week stays. More frequent Maid Service is available by prior arrangement.
* $1000 Deposit, refundable if no damage or excessive cleaning.
*Tax according to current law. This a licensed short term rental home. The 8% tax is currently charged.
* Reservation deposit of 1/2 rent is due within one week of verbal reservation, paid by check/Mastercard/Visa. Balance due 60 days prior to arrival.
* Cancellation policy: Confirmed reservations are considered binding. We will issue a refund if we are able to rebook the dates, less a $300 administration fee and credit card fees. Travel insurance is available.
* Pets; A well behaved dog is considered. Cats not allowed.
* No Smoking inside; smokers may use the covered front porch.

- Air Conditioning : Casa Bonita is fully air conditioned and also has a whole house fan. If don't like air conditioning open the windows in the evening and turn on the whole house fan. It will cool the house down in an hour during the summer!

- There are over two hundred galleries, over 30 restaurants, and many museums a short walk from Casa Bonita. In the summer you can go mountain biking and hiking in the nearby Aspen and Ponderosa covered mountains. In the winter you can drive 30 minutes to Santa Fe Ski Basin for Downhill, Snow Boarding or Cross Country Skiing. After skiing you can stop at the famous 10,000 Waves Spa for a private Jacuzzi and massage. Taos Ski Basin is an hour north of Santa Fe. We love to take the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad from Chama up into the Rockies and have lunch at Osier. This is an old classic steam train from the mining and logging days and it runs all summer long. We also recommend the Balloon Fiesta in the Fall. Another great summer day trip is to Bandelier National Monument Cliff Dwelling site. It is approximately 45 minutes from Santa Fe. I recommend you allow us to setup a custom itinerary for your stay. There are also many Casinos nearby. There is great rafting on the Rio Grande.

This is the best location in Santa Fe. We are a short walk to the Famous Plaza and Canyon Road. We have lots of parking since we are on the corner of Palace Ave and El Alamo. We love Santa Fe, it is magical! Santa Fe is the second oldest city in the US and the oldest Capital city! They celebrated their 400th year in 2010.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We love walking to the local restaurants and galleries. You are a 8 minute walk to The Compound Restaurant and another 5 minutes to El Farol Restaurant on Canyon Road. If you walk down Palace Ave. you go right into the famous Plaza where the Native Americans are selling their jewelry and hand crafted items. in front of the famous Palace. There are numerous restaurants in the famous Plaza area including the Shed, Plaza Cafe, Sena Cafe, Ore House and others. You are a short drive to the Ski Basin! The skiing is great! There is a visitor's center for tourist information, grocery stores, playgrounds, golf courses, prehistoric ruins, mountain parks and hiking trails.
The Compound restaurant has great food and is high end dining. It is a 10 minute walk from Casa Bonita.

She went to elementary school in Santa Fe and Santa Fe High before going off to college. She knows Santa Fe and the surrounding area well and can help you plan your vacation. She also speaks Spanish!
We have been told that this is the best location in Santa Fe. We are a 10 minute walk to the Famous Plaza and Canyon Road. We also have plenty of parking which is a problem in most of Santa Fe. We love spending time in Santa Fe with our family and you will too. The Sking and Snow Boarding is 20 - 30 minutes away and is great! Lot's of runs!

Thank you for lending us your lovely home. We had driven by it last spring while on a scouting expedition, but it didn't prepare us for the inside amenities. We are a very diverse family and everyone agreed that this was the best home that we had stayed in. Part of the charm is the location so near downtown Santa Fe with such varied activities, but mostly it was our home itself. It worked out well for adults and children alike. When the kids had gone to bed we were able to gather to play games. We were pleasantly surprised on how well the house was stocked. We brought so much that we wouldn't have had to bring. Thank you again for allowing us to bring our dog Gryphon. He loved the backyard and spent most of his time there eluding the grandchildren. We tried to leave no trace of him in the house or in the yard. If we ever vacation in Santa Fe again we will rent with you again if the house is available. This is the first time that all of the kids have expressed an interest in returning to the same house in the same city.

We recently rented Casa Bonita for a big group family vacation. The home is spacious, nicely remodeled and is decorated with a charming local flair. The location is perfect - very close to the plaza area (lots of options there for food, shopping, site seeing). Bonnie and Doug were very helpful, not only regarding the details of our actual house rental but also regarding the local area, things to do in the season, etc. I highly recommend Casa Bonita!

The Palace Avenue house is family friendly. The home is nicer than the pictures shown. We had age range 2 - 87 and enjoyed getting together in the open kitchen - family room area. The kitchen could handle several cooks and spectators --- it was fun. Our skiers didn't mind the drive and then we were close to shopping and eating out.. If our family goes to Santa Fe again, I would look for this house...(Also enjoyed the fireplace as we were there in Feb) --- I'm sure the outdooor area is nice in the summer and fall...

The home is beautiful. Everything is new. The owner spend $700,000 on remodeling Casa Azure last year. The great room is huge with 13 foot ceilings and korbals. The kitchen is all granite and very large and nice. There are three large flat panel TV's in Casa Azure. The location is perfect and a short walk to the Plaza,Canyon Road, restaurants, museums and art galleries. It is perfect!
