This place is a true gem! The location is ideal, right in the heart of downtown Aspen, easy walking distance to everything including the ski mountain. Despite being in the center of town, we found the penthouse quiet - the bedroom windows don't look out over a main street. It is better appointed than any rental I've ever stayed in - so many comfortable, thoughtful details have been provided (robes, stereo w/ iPod jack, kitchen supplies, extra towels & bedding, ski storage area, even a dog bowl for your pooch!). And it was immaculate when we arrived. It felt like hospitality at its finest. The large dining table was big enough for us to have dinner guests and the long island in the kitchen made for a nice socializing space. I really can't say enough good things about how sweet a spot this was for a family ski vacation in Aspen... we will definitely be back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Owner was very easy to work with, super informal and accommodating. The location is amazing during the day...walking distance to everything, literally right in the center of town. However, if you are a light sleeper or stay at a time when you'd like to have the windows open for the spring/summer/fall night air, you may have evening issues. One side of master bedroom windows faces an alley, so you get the dumpster noises/traffic; the other side faces a bar, so there was signficant "partying" noise from ~10pm to 3am. We are early risers, hence early to bed, so this was a bit of a problem for us. If you are the partying type and are out enjoying it yourself or have everything closed up, you'd probably be fine. The unit itself is nice (could use just a little bit more thorough cleaning/care, but overall nice). We had two couples for most of the trip and it was plenty large and accommodating for us. Note it is a "penthouse suite", so there is a flight of stairs without elevator, so if you are older or disabled at all, please take note. They are pet friendly, which is great and located close to necessary "grass". Would definitely recommend and stay again; thanks Barry!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I have stayed at this beautiful penthouse twice now ,as it is my favorite place to stay in Aspen. The location is perfect as it is in the heart of everything. The price, for what you get, is a deal- your own private hot tub on the roof overlooking the mountain, a spacious place to entertain, European antique furnishings and the owner is a joy to deal with. I didn't write about it the first time I stayed there because I didn't want anyone else to know about it but the owner is such a nice guy; I want the best for him. Hopefully, there will be room for me as long as I book in advance. It is worth it! I just booked it for next Christmas and New Year's 2011. Can't wait!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

What a unique and fantastic property! My wife and our friends had the ski vacation of our lives here. Comfortable and luxurious. Plenty of space (hard to find roomy accom in Aspen) - ideal for 2 couples - character filled with antiques and collectibles as you can see from the photos - not some bland condo. Good value compared to most commercial properties. You couldn't ask for a better location - right next to the Hyman Ave mall, with most of the popular restaurants and shops within a 2 block radius. Right above the E.S. Lawrence gallery and Dishaspen restaurant. Rubey Park buses only a 2 minute stroll up Galena, past the malls, though the Ajax gondola is about 3.5 blocks away (still do-able in ski boots if you must). And nothing quite like lounging back in the roof top spa with friends after a hard day's skiing, drink in hand, looking up at Ajax as they groom the runs. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 6/6

About the owner: Hello! My name is Kristine Brown. I live in Manhattan Beach, CA but my favorite get away is Aspen, CO. I am a mother of 2 little girls and love to ski. I have a passion for decorating and combined it with a business called Big Daddy's Antiques. My Husband and I sell to Ralph Lauren, J Crew, Levi, and countless clothing stores. We were on 'Housewives of Beverly Hills' last season as the store that Lisa bought all of her furnishings from for her new bar, 'Sur'.
Why the Owner Chose Other Aspen Properties:
I can honestly say, that you cannot beat this location. For what you get with this rental: an almost unheard of large space, all the amenities of home and your private roof top deck that overlooks the mountain, it hard to find anything that you can compare with it. I chose this property because I feel lucky every time I walk through the door. This place makes you feel special and if it doesn't, you grew up a lot luckier than I was.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
There is great dining and entertainment just step outside the front door. I particularly enjoy Jimmy’s an American Restaurant & Bar, Cache Cache, Campo de Fiori for Italian, Pinons for fine dining, Krabloonik for game, and the Pine Creek Cookhouse is perfect for a sleigh ride or cross country skiing through the snow covered forest. The Penthouse is located in downtown Aspen within walking distance to 10-15 restaurants. The gondola to Aspen Mountain is 2 1/2 blocks away. Shuttle stop access to Snowmass and Aspen Highlands is around the corner by McDonald’s.
