Casa Angel was designed by Miguel Valverde, a well known Mexican Architect whose work has been featured in Houses of the Pacific Coast. It is so lovely and graceful with a fantastic setting! The expansive ocean view includes a long stretch rugged coastline, the palm-lined beach, as well as the lagoon where the fishermen of Sayulita moor their boats. On the land side, Casa Angel sits directly beside a wild and completely undeveloped jungle canyon. The ocean breezes are nearly constant, and you can fall to sleep to the gentle sound of waves breaking on the shore. At night, the lights of Sayulita glitter below. The sunsets are magnificent, and in every room are large wooden doors and windows, which fold open to create an airy indoor/outdoor lifestyle perfect for the tropics.

Surrounding Casa Angel is an extensive, flower-filled garden, and a lush level lawn. Beyond the lawn is a gracefully curved pool, not a dipping pool, but one that is large enough to swim laps. And it is all yours. Since there are no casitas or other units on the property, once you close the garden gate behind you, no one will enter except at your invitation. Lounge in the sunshine or take a night swim in the sparkling lighted pool.

Casa Angel features three totally separate, private bedrooms with adjoining baths. The upstairs Master Bedroom is ringed with a flower box filled with yellow, pink, and purple blooms. The Blue room has an outstanding water view. The downstairs Pink bedroom opens directly onto the patio and pool, and not only has a gorgeous ocean view, but looks out as well into the wild jungle canyon. The house can sleep six people in style, and if needed, there are blow up mattresses.

The breathtaking natural surroundings, combined with an exceptional attention to detail, literally surround you with beauty. Ringing the floors of each of the round rooms, as well as in the pool, patio, and paths you will find delicate inlaid stone vines and flowers by talented artisan Lupe Ascencia. And from her place in the garden, an exquisite hand carved stone angel watches over the house.

Casa Angel offers luxury furninghings throughout. In the Rose Bedroom you will find fine hardwood furniture from Malaysia, the Blue bedroom has local Mexican furnishing and in the Pink Bedroom, a beautiful white four poster bed with a canopy. Curvy wrought iron outdoor chairs and a marble table allow you to eat outdoors in style, while chaise lounges and chairs imported from the United States make you comfortable around the pool. The kitchen counters and the patio are crafted of a beautiful mango colored local rock called Tekul. An elegant wicker sofa sectional and tribal rug grace the living room area, and the round dining table and chairs were custom made by an artisan who works in a small village outside Guadalajara.

Carmina our maid will clean every day except Sunday (unless this is not wanted.) Our local English and Spanish speaking house manager, Eric will be available to handle any problems or questions which arise. Air conditioning is available in all three bedrooms during the summer months, and is not needed at other times because of the almost constant ocean breezes. The walk down to the beach is only about five minutes, but because the house sits high on a hill, if you are disabled or out of shape for walking, you may wish to bring a car, which you can park in the palapa covered carport just beyond the garden gate. The house is located on a good cobblestone road. Town is a ten minute walk and the beach is a 5 minute walk.

We Loved Casa Angel!

Guest: Becky (Bainbridge Island, WA.)
Date of Stay: 01/29/12 Review Submitted: 02/07/12

We had the pleasure of staying at Casa Angel for 6 nights and wish it could have been more! This was our first visit to Sayulita and although it is more "Americanized" than we would have liked, we still loved it. Casa Angel is located up a steep hill but it it only a 10 minute walk to town and is a good little bit of exercise hiking in and out. The location is picturesque and quiet. The house itself is a delight; very comfortable and also "Americanized" with nice appliances and a whirlpool bathtub, but still feels quite Mexican with the beautiful art and setting in the jungle. Each bedroom is different and private. There are just two of us so we stayed in the master bedroom but either of the two additional bedrooms would have been just fine. The pool area is charming, but a word of warning that it is more of a "plunge" pool to cool off and not large enough for swimming. Carmina, the maid, is sweet and a hard worker and Eric, the property manager, was very helpful. The house is spotless. We did not have any problem with bugs or ants, and it is a great bird watching spot. The owner was very responsive and answered our many questions promptly. We enjoyed many of the restaurants in Sayulita and we would also recommend an excursion to nearby San Francisco (San Pancho), much more low key than busy Sayulita. We recommend Casa Angel and we would stay there again!

Our best tropical holiday yet!

What a gorgeous place! This accomodation was all it said it would be and then some. Beautiful grounds with attention to detail - palms, gardenia, etc., even lush green lawn. Clean, comfortable, and tastefully decorated home with all amenities that all worked well; plenty of room for our whole family. Bird, butterflies of all kinds, squirrel, iguana compliments of the jungle hillside. Spectacular view from everywhere, especially the lounging, floating sized pool perched on the edge of the property overlooking the town and beach. The owner and caretaker couldn't be more helpful with any and all aspects of the stay (most attentive & accessible manager ever!). Can't wait to book again!

Owner response:Happy you enjoyed your visit to Casa Angel. Thanks for the kind review and hope to see you again next year.

A Slice of Heaven

I can't say enough about our stay at Casa Angel. Six family members enjoyed a week at this beautiful home. The pictures on line can't convey how truly beautiful the grounds, house and views are. Everything surpassed my expectations. The house and grounds are immaculately maintained. The owners were so helpful answering questions about the house and the area. Eric, the house manager, was a delight as was Carmina the maid. Two of us had been to Sayulita 5 years ago. At that time we stayed at Villa Amor which is a lovely hotel. Casa Angel is more beautiful! The views and sunsets are breathtaking. You can hear the ocean all the way up the hill, but it is not so loud as to keep you awake nights. The grounds are completely private, no one can walk through the property. The house is decorated with great attention to details, comfort and displaying the cultural flavor of Mexico. Yes there are a lot of tourists in Sayulita, but the town still maintains a provincial, friendly simplicity not found in many other vacation areas. You feel safe in this little town. People are friendly and helpful and the variety of restaurants is amazing. One of my favorite vacations ever!

Need a break?

Sayulita is a wonderful, funky, surfing town with true Mexican flavor, culture and hospitality. The people are friendly, the food wonderful and everything is within walking distance from everything else. The hills are steep, but that ensures excellent vistas. Casa Angel is too lovely to describe well. The gorgeous wood doors and cabinetry, curved walls with local artwork, natural palapa roofs and perfect swimming pool combine to make a comfortable, casual home. And you can't beat the view! New owners have made several recent improvements including new bedding, living room furniture and decor keeping in line with the spirit of the place. A short drive into town downhill for great nightlife. I've been many places in Mexico and this one is my favorite. Great place!

We loved it so much, we got married there!

What a great place, Its far enough from the main street to have some peace and quiet when things get noisy, but still close enough that you still feel part of it and can zip down in no time. The house and grounds are beautiful and you will find yourself very content to just spend your time there. The hardest decision of the day was always whether to stay at the house for the day, or to go enjoy the beach and the main streets. I would put the walk at about 10min to town and about 15min back (man, sayulita has some crazy hills!) and its a gorgeous walk that you will enjoy. If walking is a problem, dont let this dissuade you... there are a few places to rent golf cart type things that are a great bet for zipping around town. Our trip was a long motorcycle ride down from Canada, with the intent to elope on a beach in Sayulita. The beach in sayulita is great, no doubt, but the house was so perfect that we decided to do it there and it couldnt have been more perfect! After all, this is the best spot, I think that we found in all of mexico even, to watch the sunset! Much thanks also to Eric the property manager for all his knowledge and insight on the area, he really helped us out, and Carmina (I believe that was her name) for keeping the house so nice for us, I wish we had had a chance to try her cooking!
