Sayulita house description
Casa Angel was designed by Miguel Valverde, a well known Mexican Architect whose work has been featured in Houses of the Pacific Coast. It is so lovely and graceful with a fantastic setting! The expansive ocean view includes a long stretch rugged coastline, the palm-lined beach, as well as the lagoon where the fishermen of Sayulita moor their boats. On the land side, Casa Angel sits directly beside a wild and completely undeveloped jungle canyon. The ocean breezes are nearly constant, and you can fall to sleep to the gentle sound of waves breaking on the shore. At night, the lights of Sayulita glitter below. The sunsets are magnificent, and in every room are large wooden doors and windows, which fold open to create an airy indoor/outdoor lifestyle perfect for the tropics.
Surrounding Casa Angel is an extensive, flower-filled garden, and a lush level lawn. Beyond the lawn is a gracefully curved pool, not a dipping pool, but one that is large enough to swim laps. And it is all yours. Since there are no casitas or other units on the property, once you close the garden gate behind you, no one will enter except at your invitation. Lounge in the sunshine or take a night swim in the sparkling lighted pool.
Casa Angel features three totally separate, private bedrooms with adjoining baths. The upstairs Master Bedroom is ringed with a flower box filled with yellow, pink, and purple blooms. The Blue room has an outstanding water view. The downstairs Pink bedroom opens directly onto the patio and pool, and not only has a gorgeous ocean view, but looks out as well into the wild jungle canyon. The house can sleep six people in style, and if needed, there are blow up mattresses.
The breathtaking natural surroundings, combined with an exceptional attention to detail, literally surround you with beauty. Ringing the floors of each of the round rooms, as well as in the pool, patio, and paths you will find delicate inlaid stone vines and flowers by talented artisan Lupe Ascencia. And from her place in the garden, an exquisite hand carved stone angel watches over the house.
Casa Angel offers luxury furninghings throughout. In the Rose Bedroom you will find fine hardwood furniture from Malaysia, the Blue bedroom has local Mexican furnishing and in the Pink Bedroom, a beautiful white four poster bed with a canopy. Curvy wrought iron outdoor chairs and a marble table allow you to eat outdoors in style, while chaise lounges and chairs imported from the United States make you comfortable around the pool. The kitchen counters and the patio are crafted of a beautiful mango colored local rock called Tekul. An elegant wicker sofa sectional and tribal rug grace the living room area, and the round dining table and chairs were custom made by an artisan who works in a small village outside Guadalajara.
Carmina our maid will clean every day except Sunday (unless this is not wanted.) Our local English and Spanish speaking house manager, Eric will be available to handle any problems or questions which arise. Air conditioning is available in all three bedrooms during the summer months, and is not needed at other times because of the almost constant ocean breezes. The walk down to the beach is only about five minutes, but because the house sits high on a hill, if you are disabled or out of shape for walking, you may wish to bring a car, which you can park in the palapa covered carport just beyond the garden gate. The house is located on a good cobblestone road. Town is a ten minute walk and the beach is a 5 minute walk.

Beautiful view, excellent place to rest, the only issue is some bugs and ants but is obvious if you are in jungle, house is in a sloping hill so better use SUV or Pick up truck.

Manager response: Thank you for your review, sorry you had an issue with ants. It is summer in the jungle in Mexico and we do try to keep counters and floors clean from the critters. Hope you come back to Sayulita!
Casa Angel - Late June
Casa Angel - Late June
Upon arrival you are overwhelmed with the beauty of the property. After spending a week in Sayulita I believe the location of Casa Angel was second to none. Although the house is located on Nanzal Hill, it was a very short, enjoyable 5 minute stroll into town. Walking home after a few too many dos XX's and Don Julio's was another story.... Eric went above and beyond that expected and was always available to assist us with our issues. His local knowledge of the area was very helpful when deciding on our days activities. During our stay the local town lost 50 percent of its power supply for a 24 hour period. We were informed that this is a common event on Sundays due to the inability of the local grid to cover the power requirements. Unfortunately this resulted in the loss of the water supply for this period (Luckily, Eric had sorted out the issue before we even noticed, and provided us with enough bottled water to get through the week). Although the ad does say internet is provided, do not rely on this if you require a connection for work purposes. In order to send emails we had to take our laptops into town. Luckily every cafe provided free wifi on request. We stayed at the property in late June and I feel this was an excellent time. The bulk of tourism had left meaning we virtually had the place to ourselves. Weather was brillient and I never had to wear anything more than board shorts and a singlet. This beautiful property is a wonderful retreat away and our time spent was in Sayulita was highly enjoyable. I would definetly recommend this property to any families or groups looking for a holiday in this area. I would happily stay there again.

Manager response: Hi Luke, thank you for your kind review. We are constantly trying to improve any problems that we might have at Casa Angel. To answer a few of your concerns, we have been working on getting a stronger internet connection and hopefully someday we'll have the wire the entire way up Nanzal Hill. In the meantime, yes you are correct that it can be somewhat unreliable. The town has been working on the water issue but while waiting for that to be rectified, we have installed two large water storage tanks just for those times when the town is dry. Again, we appreciate your review and happy that you enjoyed Casa Angel, Eric and all that Sayulita has to offer. Hope you visit us again.
Casa Angel: Beautiful Home in Beautiful Surroundings
Casa Angel: Beautiful Home in Beautiful Surroundings
Casa Angel pictures & write-up are exact! The home was well decorated with all the amenities you'd need. This home does have a level & fairly large lawn area by the pool which we enjoyed daily! The pool is a nice size, four of us were in it at once & we are all adults! I especially loved my morning swim by myself! The walk up the hill is steep, but excellent exercise. We even walked up to the top of the area hills to explore. We felt very safe in Sayulita. The security system in the home was easy to use & an added bonus. I feel Sayulita is the perfect town to stay in when in the Puerta Vallarta area, you get a better feel of Mexico & there is alot to do there. We had Carmina come every other day, she is a very sweet person. We had her do some laundry for us because Eric stated that the washer/dryer were finicky (I really felt bad about not doing my own & would have preferred to do my own). There is a DVD player so we brought one movie to watch for our movie night. We could not watch it though as we could not get our movie to play. Eric explained something about "piracy". There is many DVD movies in the home, both in English & Spanish. We enjoyed many meals in town. My son & dau-in-law enjoyed the Italian restaurant w/swings & a quiet restaurant on the ocean- both romantic. We had a personal chef come one night ( Sayulita-Life website is an excellent website to view before coming to Mexico to make some plans.) She was excellent, taught us while cooking & FUN!! I would also recommend horse-back riding. My daughter & I went on an hour ride near Litibu (about 15 miles south of Sayulita) through jungle, the little town & on the beach. We had 2 guides all to ourselves plus we met our driver in Sayulita, who drove us to the ranch & back & she had bottled water after our ride! Do the massage on the beach!! It is inexpensive & wonderful!! Thanks to Sally for getting back to me via e-mail before our trip & Eric, who made suggestions & answered our questions while in Sayulita & Carmina for taking care of Casa Angel & our laundry while we were in Mexico! Thanks for getting out the large airbed for my daughter to use as the queen bed wouldn't work for my 19 year old dau & 23 year old son to use. My only suggestion would be for a set of twin beds vs queen in one of the smaller bedrooms. Thank-you all so much!!

Manager response: Thank you for the review and happy you enjoyed Casa Angel. Hope you visit again!
We stayed in the beautiful Casa Angel for nine nights and had a fabulous time. The villa is located in the north end of town which seems to be the quieter side. Casa Angel is still only a 5 minute walk down hill to the beach and only 10 minutes to town. Really. And the walk back UP the hill is really not so bad but in a pinch, you can go to the taxi stand in town, pay 50 pesos (less than $5) to get home. Very easy. And being up high means you get the BEST view! We rented an electric golf cart that was SO MUCH FUN! We went buzzing all over town and up and down all the hills discovering wonderful hidden areas. While staying here we were convinced that staying in town would be way too noisy. We could hear the music from town almost every night and one night the party went on until 3:00 in the morning! But part of the fun of this party were the fireworks over the city. Sayulita is a unique and wonderful town. Everyone is friendly and happy and helpful. Everyone is having a good time. Great food, too. Bring CASH. Very few restaurants or shops use credit cards. And ask around for the safest ATMs... there are no banks in town. Don't miss the mercado on Friday. Simply the best! Casa Angel had all the amenities and space to make our stay memorable. Good water pressure, purified water, large refrigerator, pool, beautiful surroundings, alarm system, safe, etc. We will be back to Sayulita!

My family and I just got back from our first stay at Casa Angel. All I can say is that it is every bit as beautiful as in the pictures. We've been to Sayulite 5 times and stayed at various places but this was the best by far. Already looking forward to our next trip.

Perfect week away!
Perfect week away!
We loved every part of the Casa Angel experience. The house and grounds were excellent. The views, attention to detail in this property, the setting, the archetecture....everything was over the top. The owners couldn't have been more accomodating, the property manager, gardner, and maid were all so nice. We especially loved the gardner, Servondo, who speaks and teaches english. We hired him one day as a tour guide. The property exceeded our expectations and Sayulita was, as promised, a wonderful place. The people were very friendly and most spoke english. We got to watch some of the local traditions, but the highlight of the entire stay was watching three very young red foxes play by the pool on our last day. There were a couple of large birds that like one of the trees nearby, there were two iguanas that hung out by the pool, we saw a couple of squirls that would show up in the nearby trees as well. We loved it all. Thanks very much for letting us share this beautiful place.

Exquisite home with magnificent views, and excellent service
Exquisite home with magnificent views, and excellent service
My wife and I stayed at Casa Angel at the end of the season (early May 2012). Everything about the house was perfect - all the amenities you could ask for, including beach parasols and chairs, and even an iPod dock. Before we left for our trip both the owners and the property manager in Sayulita were very helpful in arranging for us to pick up the keys and getting everything organized. The photos and other helpful reviews were what wooed us initially, but they really don't do the views justice - this place has probably the best view of Sayulita bay, with the sun setting into the ocean directly in front of the house. Plus the pool is a great bonus! The location is great - close enough to easily walk to the beach or into town - but far enough away to ensure that the music from the nightclub in town did not disturb us. The house was in immaculate condition and you can tell that the owners take great pride in their home and gardens. As there was only two of us staying (and eating out is plentiful and cheap!) we only had the cleaner come every other day, but she did a great job of keeping the place ship-shape. The property manager was very attentive and helped us out when we needed it. The gardener could not be a nicer man, and he helped us out with local knowledge and some impromptu Spanish lessons. The road to Casa Angel is on a pretty steep incline in sections which was not a problem for my wife and I, but I would recommend that older visitors rent a golf cart in town, or a car, to navigate the hill, especially at night. Definitely bring a good flashlight if you plan on being out at night. This was our second visit to Sayulita in two years. If we decide to go back again we will definitely be staying at Casa Angel. The owners have a great team in Sayulita ensuring that their home and guests are well looked after, and the owners themselves were a real pleasure to work with.

Casa Angel = AMAZING
Casa Angel = AMAZING
I spent 5 nights at Casa Angel with a group of friends from college. The house was absolutely amazing-- even better than the pictures. Three bed/3 bathroom. Outdoor swimming pool was maintained well. One great feature is that you can actually drink the water--there is a water filtration system throughout the whole house. Eric Larson the house manager was very easy to get a hold of an very knowledgeable about Sayulita. Carmina was fantastic-- we had her cook dinner for us one night-- which I highly recommend. I would definitely recommend this vacation home--and plan on going back some day!

We Loved Casa Angel!
We Loved Casa Angel!
We had the pleasure of staying at Casa Angel for 6 nights and wish it could have been more! This was our first visit to Sayulita and although it is more "Americanized" than we would have liked, we still loved it. Casa Angel is located up a steep hill but it it only a 10 minute walk to town and is a good little bit of exercise hiking in and out. The location is picturesque and quiet. The house itself is a delight; very comfortable and also "Americanized" with nice appliances and a whirlpool bathtub, but still feels quite Mexican with the beautiful art and setting in the jungle. Each bedroom is different and private. There are just two of us so we stayed in the master bedroom but either of the two additional bedrooms would have been just fine. The pool area is charming, but a word of warning that it is more of a "plunge" pool to cool off and not large enough for swimming. Carmina, the maid, is sweet and a hard worker and Eric, the property manager, was very helpful. The house is spotless. We did not have any problem with bugs or ants, and it is a great bird watching spot. The owner was very responsive and answered our many questions promptly. We enjoyed many of the restaurants in Sayulita and we would also recommend an excursion to nearby San Francisco (San Pancho), much more low key than busy Sayulita. We recommend Casa Angel and we would stay there again!
