Rome, Italy... Large (120 squ.m), light apartment on the first floor (second floor American) of an elegant 100-year-old palazzo. The ceilings are high and the walls thick, which makes it cool in summer and warm in winter. There is, however, air conditioning in one double bedroom. The central heating is autonomous. The rooms are separated by a central corridor. The large living/dining-room and one bedroom are on the street side (a fairly quiet street by Rome standards) and two bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom are on the interior, overlooking a picturesque courtyard.
The furnishings are simple but comfortable: Swedish pine mostly. There are lots of books, including art and travel books on Rome and Italy and a fairly extensive and eclectic CD collection. There's Sky TV and a computer with fast internet and WiFi.
The neighbourhood has a strong community feel to it with a mix of longtime residents and foreigners. There's everything you need nearby: shops, banks, Post Office, dry cleaners, cafes and restaurants.
The area is exceptionally green for central Rome, being on the edge of the large archeological site of the Forum and Palatine. There are also two parks in the immediate vicinity: the Villa Celimontana up the hill and the Colle Oppio, bordering the Monti district.
You could spend a whole week just exploring this area!

The flat is in an excellent location, with a good selection of shops, restaurants, ice cream shops and other food outlets within a couple of minutes walk, but not at all noisy. Transport links are very convenient and plentiful - you can get anywhere in centrl rome within 30 minutes. The flat itself is very comfortable and homely, and therefore far more enjoyable to stay in than an impersonal place. Carole was very efficient in showing us round, made helpful recommendations, and encouaged us to use the place as our own - which we did. It was particularly useful to be able to access her computer. The description and photographs all gave an accurate impression of what to expect, and the property was clean, spacious (particularly for 2 people) and in good order. Highly recommended.

I would highly recommend Carole's cozy apartment. We stayed there for a week, including Christmas, and it was perfect for our family of two parents and four grown children. Carole was extremely friendly and helpful, and her apartment is full of great books and things to look at. The location is also very convenient. The apartment is clean, spacious, and quiet. We missed it after we left Rome!

Stayed here for a week vacation in July. The owner was very helpful before our arrival and when we arrived at the apartment. Apartment was as advertised, air conditioner in one bed room, maybe not what you're used to in USA, and we were probably there for the hottest days of the year. Apartment is practically at the coliseum. would stay here again, recommend it to anyone. worked great for getting away from the hotel scene for our week in Rome, helped us to feel like we lived there.

Really enjoyed staying here. Perfect location for visiting Rome. We will recommend this apartment to all our friends. Sights, shops and public transport all on the doorstep. Much better than staying in a hotel. A real home from home with everything you need and more! Internet access a real bonus. Carole is a great landlady. Keen to return and do it all again!

Excellent location! Very cozy, felt right at home. Spacious for a family with 2 teenagers. Carole patiently waited for us though we were a good 2 hours late getting in, thanks so much.

Carole's apartment was perfect for our group of six (five university students and one professor). As some have commented the apartment is lived-in but that was part of the charm. The neighborhood was great with easy access to everything we needed. And the Colosseum only two blocks away as soon as you step out your door? Wonderful! The kitchen was quite functional, the internet access a great plus, a nice bathroom... all in all, much more for the money than we would have found at any hotel/motel/hostel. Also, it should be noted, dealing with Carole was a pleasure.

this was our first VRBO experience and Carole was great to deal with...We had an awesome time in April 08 at your wonderful spacious and functional 3 bedroom home located about 1 block from Coleseum with easy access to the Metro station which allowed for access to all the main sites ...We stayed with our 3 young adult kids ages 17,21 and 23 ...we loved your books & CD music selection..we played La Boheme to get into the Italian mood...The computer access was very nice...Great family unit & safe neighborhood with fantastic local restaurants, grocery, etc...no need to cook-in as we returned each nite to fine fare and very convenient and resaonable neighborhood restaurants and kept "snack" food/drink available in the kitchen.. My wife thought the apartment had such character, that she thought she was living out of a Henry James novel...we certainly would return and we recommend Carole's place to all....

We stayed in this apartment for two weeks in July 2007 and we loved every minute of it. Perfect location! The apartment is very spacious and bright. Everything was as advertised and more. Carole was very nice and helpful and made sure that our stay was the best ever. We will definitely stay here again and we give this apartment our best recommendation. Sincerely, Heidrun and Kristjan from Iceland

We stayed here for a long weekend and found the appartment delightful. Its not modern and is lived in but is very big for Rome. The location is amazing and you have so much on the doorstep.
