Located 18 miles South of the Canadian border and 8 mile north of the historic gold mining town of Republic. Home built with 72 windows, every window with a beautiful view of the lake, mountains, wildlife or many other sights.
We love the country and brought a little of the city when we added a spa area downstairs. Who could resist a morning tan and facial before an afternoon hike or horse ride, or? We just returned from a sunny and peaceful Easter weekend at Sharlene's property on Curlew Lake. We really enjoyed the open concept living areas as well as the views of the lake. We were only a very small group but the house is spacious enough for many more people. It was great that she allowed our dog to enjoy this weekend with us; she loved running around the hills outside the house. Thanks Sharlene.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

I loved my stay at Spirit of Curlew Lake and plan to visit again in coming years. The home is immaculately cared for, the landscaped grounds well maintained and fine to walk around, especially down to the lake below. This is a great vacation area recommended for families and romantic get-aways too.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This property was not what we had expected and although I did not set the reservations myself, I at least expected clean sheets and the refrigerator looked lived in. The most disappointing however was that it truly was far from the lake and the apparent access trail only lead to a small opening but nothing where you could sit or swim and enjoy it. I did however appreciate that it allowed dogs. Overall I would not recommend this property.Owner response: This review was not posted by an actual renter. Noone by this name has stayed at my rental in the time frame suggested. Please do not be fooled by this poor minded persons ill considered words.

We had a wonderful time staying at the Spirit of Curlew. A fabulous view of the lake!!! This is a great place to stay while exploring the north east corner of the state. And eating borsht in Grand Forks B.C was worth the trip alone. Fossil hunting was a total blast and nearby. The Spirit of Curlew is a very easy place to stay with large family and three dogs. Our women's retreat was held at this rental last year and we will be making this and annual trip. The home was clean comfortable and peaceful! the view is beautiful, and the walk to the lake is very nice!we were all pleased!!Owner response: Looking forward to seeing you again next year! About the owner: The Spirit of Curlew Lake is my canvas on which i have painted with passion for over a decade. The home is welcoming, peaceful and easy for all to find comfort. Its a constant in my life and grounding for me, yet also a work in progress, as we always strive to improve the guest experience. I studied the arts in college and brought all that I learned back to my hometown, Curlew, where I graduated high school and made lifelong friends. This place is special. Glad I can share it with you.
Why the Owner Chose Curlew Lake:
I designed and built the Spirit of Curlew Lake (with help from some wonderful people). It was a risky thing to do, at the time the largest home in the county, but it brought more investment to this far flung community and boosted tourism in the poorest county in the state.

The home has a spiritual quality hard to describe but discovered by all who come here. The views through 72 windows are spectacular. The surrounding landscape is breathtaking and the wildlife is a constant source of wonder.
