  • Third time visitor

"This was our third visit to this beautiful house! Great for multiple families! We love the shady, quiet location just one block from the beach and within walking/biking distance of the local park and grocery store. The house is just as beautiful in person as the photos on the website. We have 4 families that stay together and the house is roomy and comfortable with LOTS of sleeping space. Two couples take the two upstairs bedrooms (these bedrooms have extra beds in them which could be helpful for families with young children), our girls occupy the upstairs "bunk bed room" which is small but private and very sweet! The teenage boys sleep in the bunkbeds in the upstairs tv room. There is not as much privacy in this room, but our boys LOVE it because the beds are super comfortable and the room has a large sectional sofa and a Very large screen tv! Another couple sleeps in the master bedroom downstairs, and my mom sleeps in the quaint bedroom (with the two twin beds) near the kitchen. This bedroom could also be convenient for a nanny or babysitter. Having the laundry chute from the upstairs bathroom to the master bathroom laundry room is convenient. Since access to laundry is through the master bedroom, we make sure whoever sleeps in the master suite is not a big "napper" so that others in the house have access to the laundry room throughout the day. Having two family rooms/dens is very convenient, as the teenagers can hook up their gaming system to the upstairs television while others may watch a movie or sports on the downstairs television. But even with two televisions going, there are still places in the house to sit and read and relax and two big tables for playing cards or board games. I particularly enjoy reading on the loveseat (off of the kitchen dining area) and in the rocking chairs on the back screen porch. We had gracious room for eating all together at the large dining table but also enjoy the spacious eating area in the kitchen as well. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, flatware, and cookware and has just about anything you need for meal prep. The house internet works great. We brought a laptop with us and left it at the kitchen desk (in the common area) for all in the house to use during the week. There are plenty of places to ride bikes and run within the neighborhood and around the island. There are also tennis courts and basketball courts at the public park just a couple of blocks away, which we enjoy. Super place ~we will be back!"

  • Great home. Great stay

"What a great house and location. Spent a long weekend there for the Kiawah marathon with a group of friends. Aside from the race we spent the entire stay hanging out and the house resting and relaxing."

  • Roomy Studio

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners graciously accommodated my family's special needs. They also suggested the best time and location for viewing the fall colors. The studio had lots of room to relax. I will definitely stay again."

  • Nice quiet cabin in the woods

"Frank's place is so much nicer than the pics show... surprisingly, it had a lot of room inside, very comfortable for a small family. My husband and I went to Helen for our 15th anniversary and we brought our 11 year old son who LOVED having his own bedroom in the loft; he said he felt like he had his own private treehouse! The beds were very comfortable, the layout was perfect, the decor was nice and there are great freestanding fans in each bedroom area, great for those like me who have to sleep with the sound of a fan! You are surrounded by thick woods, so you can hardly tell that you are actually in the middle of several other cabins. We would often hear other people but it was nothing bothersome as the trees blocked a lot of sound. The cabin is located in the other side of Unicoi national forest, and only about 8 minutes from downtown Helen (unless it is high traffic time outside the city itself, but there was never traffic around the cabin itself.) We saw several deer while traveling back and forth from town to our cabin. Our only other experience with the wildlife was the faint perfume of a skunk which we smelled around the front porch area on a couple of occasions, but it was nothing that lingered and we only noticed it going to and from the vehicle a couple of times. We only stayed for the weekend, so we didn't need a washer/dryer, but that would be the only downfall for those wishing to stay longer. (There seems to be a washer and dryer in the lower basement - we could see through the lower windows - but it is not available for access as the entry was on the outside and separately locked.) The hottub on the back deck was nice and clean, and the deck itself was nice for sitting and listening to the leaves rustle in the wind when the hottub wasn't on. Although there's no "view", I personally loved being surrounded by the forest. It made me feel much more secluded than I actually was. We will definitely keep Frank's Place on the top of the list for our next trip to Helen and I look forward to our next visit! Rent this place, you won't regret it!"
