Comfortable and clean
We had our family Christmas at this cabin. The property was clean and had plenty of room for all 18 of us! The bedrooms were large and the 4 on the top 2 floors had walkouts to the balcony. The driveway is a sharp turn and very steep but has enough room for a few cars. If you plan on cooking you may want to bring your own pots and pans, but theirs are good in a pinch. There is plenty of cups, plates, and utensils on hand so that was very helpful. Overall this cabin was amazing and the views are amazing!
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We appreciate your feedback. If you ever notice that the cabin may need some extra pots and pans, please let us know during your stay. We would be happy to assist you in getting dishware. Once again, thank you for staying with us and we look forward toward to welcoming you again in the future.
Family Fun with lots of room
This cabin provides lots of room to spread out with a large family. The views were wooded but nice. A drawback would be the extremely hard beds/mattresses that are really old. Also the kitchen/dining areas can only be used at night our early in the morning. Since there are no curtains/sheer panels at all on the large window, the sun is extremely horrible and makes it almost unable to use dining tables. We tied sheets over the windows. Another drawback would be the basement smell. It has a damp smell that is strong. We very much enjoyed the many balconies with the rocking chairs and swings. We would definitely stay here again we will just bring curtains and hangers and air freshener for the basement. This is awesome for families with the different levels. There are lots of stairs but we managed just fine. The kitchen/island area is very large for cooking and preparing meals. The road to the cabin is good. The actual driveway is a bit steep but we fit 4 cars just fine. We did notice when first pulling up to our cabin that the hillside behind us was covered in trash and looks as though it hasn’t ever been cleaned or picked up. Over all we would use this cabin again.

Very nice cabin in a great location. Accommodated 19 people easily.
This cabin accommodates 19 people very easily and was a very nice cabin. Check-in was fairly simple. The staff was quite friendly. We noticed several bulbs were out in the kitchen when we first arrived. Maintenance responded pretty quickly and only needed to replace one or two bulbs. He simply turned the others. We learned that those lights are very bright, and also unscrewed a couple to turn them off for more comfortable lighting. So, check that before you call maintenance. There were a few things in the cabin that could use attention: ripped shower curtains, wiggly/broken kitchen chairs (one chair actually broke completely while someone was sitting in it), silverware (bring your own. Not many forks/spoons), and no baking sheets. I didn't mention the utensils/baking sheets to staff when we left but did mention the shower curtains and chairs, and I was told those things would be addressed with the cabin owner.
We did get to see the resident bear within an hour or two of arriving at the cabin. He (or she) walked right up the hill next to the hot tub, then around by the garbage/entrance door and up the hill by the driveway. Really cool! Much to our disappointment, we didn't see him again though.
My other suggestion would be to arrive at this cabin in daylight. The road and driveway are very steep and curvy. It is best to get a feel for it during the day.
Hope this review helped!

Beautiful Property with a Wonderful View
My friends and I booked this cabin for a weekend getaway in the smoky mountains. We had a big group so we needed a big cabin. If that is what you are looking for this is a perfect spot. We saw Bears the very first morning we woke up! A lot of people on the other reviews talk about the curtains being too thin and this is true. But anyone with any sense of a brain can look around to find the shower curtains are a good back up to put up over the curtains and bingo! You now have a perfectly dark room :) Anyway the cabin was beautiful and the view was even better! Now there were a couple issues we had that maybe some people might find difficult to deal with and that is my reasoning for 3 stars. 1.) There is absolutely NO PHONE SERVICE in the house unless you have US Cellular. For whatever reason they work just fine. Even with the house wifi you won't be able to do much because their server is built for a capacity of maybe 2 hotspots. SO with 15 people in the cabin, the wifi is basically non existant. 2.) The driveway is a TOUGH PILL to swallow. I thought we were still climbing up the mountain roads when we looked up to see our cabin on a steep gradient that was very difficult to park on with more than 3 cars in the driveway. We came into town for a car show, so this was definitely a problem for us, so much so that a couple cars had to take their bumpers off and leave them behind whenever we left the cabin because they were unable to get back into the driveway once we returned home. 3.) The house needs to be updated. All of the technology in the house was MAYBE from the 90's and it wasn't the best of quality either. The hot water for example would be gone for 3 hours after one person took a 5 minute shower. So please take that into consideration as well. 4.) Last but not least, the front gate. The security guards are about as nice and helpful as they could possibly get, but this is a problem that there is a front gate because the only vehicles allowed in are ones with parking passes. This makes for a difficult time if you have friends staying at a different resort and they want to come visit your HUGE 20 PERSON CABIN nestled in the heart of the Smoky Mountains. Come on, don't we all want to show it off a bit if you can??
Like I said before we had a great time, the people we encountered were all very nice, and the views from the cabin were beautiful! The place itself was cool too just needs some minor changes to be a 4-5 star :)
See you next year Gat!

We had a very nice time at the cabin !
We had a very nice stay. Just to clarify previous comments made about the property-yes the curtains are sheer, you can see out to the deck, but people on the deck cannot see in; if you like a blackout room, I would recommend a sheet for the window-but we didn’t mind-it was time to get up for coffee on tbe deck; if the lid to the dumpster is completely closed -it will keep the bear out-we loved seeing her stop by! Yes, the sound does travel quite well from floor to floor -it’s a log cabin; the ‘mold’ from the hottub, i suspect is the wood turning a slight green hue from the water splashing out-there was no mold or any leaks that we saw; nice distance from town to out of traffic, noise, etc...we liked that. It took the cleaning crew longer than expected to clean it because the people before us left the cabin a mess, left all their food in the refrigerator-drinks on the picnic table; they didn’t have the dumpster closed and the bear drug the garbage back in the woods-the cleaning crew was very apologetic-but we were OK with the delay-it wasn’t their fault and assured them, they would not find the cabin anywhere near that type of mess from our crew of 19. The cabin is worn, but so is my home, and it is truly beautiful. The entrance steps and the carpet on the steps going to the basement-but nothing gross-just used as steps are. The grandkids loved the whirlpool tub and the adults loved the hottub.
Thank you for taking that time to share your feedback. We appreciate you detailing out some of the concerns with the property. Fireside Chalets is glad that your family enjoyed your stay, and we look forward to welcoming you back.
Definitely in need of some TLC
First, the layout, because the description isn't very thorough:
The main level has the kitchen with an island, side by side fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and electric stove/oven. There are enough dishes, cups, coffee mugs, wine glasses, and utensils for 20 people. There is also a set of pots and pans. The dining area accomodates 20 people as well. On the main level are two bedrooms with full/queen beds in each. Each bedroom on this level has a jacuzzi tub and an attached full bathroom with shower/tub, sink, and toilet. Outside the main level is the hot tub, picnic table, and grill.
The lower level/basement is fully carpeted. There is a living area with a pool table and TV. The laundry room is also located on this level. There is a bedroom with two bunk beds (full bottom/twin top) and an attached full bathroom. There is another bedroom with a queen (or king?) bed and attached full bathroom.
The upper level has a living area with a TV. There are two bedrooms with king size beds and attached full bathroom in each. There is also a loft bedroom with a full/queen size bed and futon.
Every level has access to a balcony. Every bedroom has a private bathroom, except for the loft bedroom.
Now the cons...
The bear-proof trashcan is definitely not bear proof. There was a trail of trash that led into the woods and a fresh pile of bear scat next to it. The hot tub leaks. This is listed in a previous review, and has not been fixed. You can see green mold starting to grow on the lower level balcony because of the leaking hot tub on the upper level. The rocking chair in the kitchen has missing slats in the back and makes it very uncomfortable to sit in. The formica is peeling off of the island. The outdoor tables have legs that have to be stuck back on and balanced constantly. The grill was covered in grease and who knows what else. It was so disgusting we didn't even use it. The floors and countertops weren't cleaned, and the tubs weren't wiped down...I found someone else's hair in the shower. The shower curtains are made for stalls, not full tubs, so they won't close all the way. We also found a small jar of vaseline under a sofa and a bag of candy under a bed. Check-in is supposed to be at 3, but we were told it could be later because it was a large cabin and could take longer to clean. I don't know what got cleaned. The cabin needs to have more time between renters to be fully cleaned (or hire more cleaners) and take at least one day a month for maintenance.
