Lakefront townhome on Tripp Lake in the Adirondacks, minutes from Gore Mountain skiing, Lake George, hiking, kayaking, and year-round outdoor adventure.
Located in Schroon Lake, this lodge is near a water park and on the waterfront. The area's natural beauty can be seen at Pharaoh Lake Wilderness and Thurman Pond, while Oscar Seagle Memorial Theater and Seagle Music Colony are cultural highlights. Travelling with kids? Consider Blue Line Outdoor Center and North Creek Depot Museum. Water tubing and rafting offer great chances to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with hiking and horse riding nearby.
Your vacation home is Running Deer Lodge, a lovely cedar log cabin chalet on the edge of one of the most private and secluded lakes in this wilderness park. See more deer, beaver, osprey and loons, than you will people. Authentic furnishings in a Great Camp tradition throughout. Three bedrooms (and an overflow sofa bed in the lower den), enough for two families and children. A wall of glass opens the cathedral ceiling living/dining area to the lake, mountain views, and sunsets. Fully equipped modern kitchen, a den, 3 rowboats, 2 canoes and dock. We have been told that this is one of the most attractive camps in the Adirondacks available for rent. Furnished and decorated in the best style (J. S. Crew asked to shoot their summer catalog here). Many of our guests come back year after year. The kids especially love it.
Guest comments: Wow did we have a wonderful stay at Running Deer! The nice thing is having family members drop by for a day or so and sharing in their amazement at how beautiful the place is. Enjoy the rest of your summer, Thanks, S. D. 2007
A wonderful week! Everything was just great, the weather, lodge, all the wildlife (beaver, bald eagles, loons, heron), and especially the fishing! Lots of bass (a few 5 lb+) and two huge pike 36'-38.' Looking forward to next year. Thanks again, J. M. 2007

Tranquil property, clean, well stocked with everything you could need for a perfect getaway. The host communicated everything flawlessly. Will visit again for sure!
Couldn't have had a better weekend! I grew up staying at Running Deer Lodge and it was awesome coming back with friends and my wife as an adult. Spent tons of time swimming, canoeing, doing puzzles in the living room, and stargazing at night. Thank you for another perfect weekend!
Accommodations were very comfortable, right on the pond with great fishing. Lack of wi-fi and cell service were a minor inconvenience. Overall a very pleasant vacation for the whole family.
Great private stay. First night we had close neighbors they didnt stay the night then it was just us. Beds were cozy, the camp had everything we needed but personal essentials. The experience on the dock and the ambiance was pristine. The campfire and wood supplied was perfect. The long driveway was great for walks. This is a perfect place to get away. We tried to leave it cleaner for the next person.
The house was exactly as pictured and the kitchen was equipped with everything you could possibly need for cooking at home. The house was extremely clean and cozy!
We knew we were in for a treat as we ventured further into the woods along the winding road that leads to Running Deer Lodge... it did not disappoint. The cabin itself was clean, very well-appointed, and absolutely beautiful with impressive craftmanship throughout. The location on Thurman Pond is perfection. We loved fishing and swimming in the crystal clear water and listening to the chorus of spring peepers as we watched the sunset from the dock in the evening. The host is wonderful, responsive, and very helpful in providing any information or tips you may need. This is an Adirondack gem and we look forward to coming back!
We had a wonderful long weekend celebrating a birthday with family. The cabin is accurately described and we were thrilled to stay there. The lake is so beautiful and peaceful. Having access to boats (rowboat, canoe) was wonderful, we spent an afternoon paddling around the lake. The kitchen had adequate supplies to prepare meals and was very clean. The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and the towels and linens in good shape. I would love to come back and spend more time here.
We enjoyed our relaxing stay at Schroon Lake, despite the weather.
Plenty of peace and solitude to catch up on reading. We were able to kayak around Thurman Pond, but had no luck with catching fish or spotting wildlife… maybe not the right time of year.
We would love to return sometime in the summer next visit.
Thanks again!

Running Deer Lodge
My husband and I loved our stay at Running Deer, although better instructions for finding the Lodge once you turn off on the unpaved Beaver Dam Road would have been helpful. The Lodge was in a beautiful area and Ron enjoyed fishing on Thurman Pond every day. We scoured upstate New York, from Lake George, Schroon Lake and Lake Placid to name a few, ate at many diners, dives and restaurants and absolutely loved the Adirondacks showing off their fall foliage, so beautiful. The Lodge and Thurman Pond were a great place to relax. However being required to strips the beds we used of the sheets and start a load of laundry before we left was a bit much. All in all it was a wonderful experience.
The lake was much lower than previous visit. The rowboat had a leak that we told the owners about. The outdoor grill was unusable. The indoor fireplace was amazing. The fishing was fair compared to August. we stayed in May The peace and quiet and the home itself…magical. We will be back! It was the beginning of the season. The hosts will fix the issues mentioned. Heaven on earth!!!
Wonderful cabin and an ideal setting. Literally piles of mouse poop in the kitchen cabinets. A large pile of nuts and crackers on the bookshelf and appeared to be a rodent stash. Nearly impossible to open sliding door to deck. Thick layers of dust on lamps and wall decor. Bathrooms very clean. It took 2 people 2 days to clean to where we were comfortable. Stayed last year and it was in better shape.
My brother and I rented the property for a fishing trip. The fishing on this lake is unbelievable. My brother caught a 3 foot pike almost immediately. The cabin is clean and very comfortable. Unfortunately, we had to cut our trip short due to a family issue back home. We hope to return one day.
Amazing quiet beautiful Adirondack home on a wildlife filled small lake! Loons, osprey, eagle! You could hear the coyotes calling from across the lake and we even heard a bobcat! The fishing( with worms) was amazing! I have never caught so many bass! The dogs LOVED it too! Long gravel road to the house was the only downside.
This was our first time at the cabin. Took keep it simple we already booked for a week next summer. We learned to step back and live without our phones and internet. My daughters phones had service but not ours. A ten minute ride to the village was good to check messages. The Shroon library was lovely if you needed good internet for computer work. One of the best vacations we have had.
