Great location in the Mauna Lani resort, fun to have bikes, and the beach chairs, umbrellas, boards, and towels were indispensable. We were familiar with the Kohala Coast and revisited our favorites beaches, hikes, restaurants, and snorkeling venues. The property itself was fine for our family of 5, but there were a few shortcomings: 1 child slept on the "couch" in the upstairs hallway (which was described as a loft/sleeping area, but there were no shades on the adjacent windows so the sun streamed in each morning at 6:00. In the bathroom of the twin bedroom, some of the lights were not working. The towel racks in the master bathroom easily fell down a few times when removing the towels, and the mainfloor bathroom didn't have a towel rack at all (for hanging a hand towel). The kitchen is a little dated but had all the equipment we needed for making some meals and BBQing. Would be nice to have a container for recycling in the house bc there is recycling on the property. W e carried our glass/aluminum/paper separately.
We rented snorkle gear from Snorkle Bob's bc the sets in the garage were in medium shape - many of the snorkle straps are broken, and there were mismatched pairs. We were ok with renting bc we are familiar with Bob's operation. And like I said it was a bonus to have the chairs and umbrellas and boogie boards.
Thank you for a pleasant stay - we love the Big Island!
