We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to your home. We were able to spend quality time with our entire family to celebrate Thanksgiving since we live in different parts of the country. The home was thoroughly stocked with all the equipment necessary for cooking and playing to entertain a family of 12. We were able to take long walks to the beach and play games outdoors. We often had to reset the Wi-Fi for some reason as it kept turning off on us. This was not a problem for some of us, but our millennials & X-Gens can't be without their internet access and did find that frustrating. Your home is beautiful and we hope to be able to return for a longer stay next time. Thank you.
Beautiful house, very clean
Washer didn’t work, and was offered use of their Better Beach commercial laundry. Would have had to spend our own money and lose a day of vacation. Returned with week of dirty laundry for sixteen people! Offered $200 refund, not enough for what we paid! Felt like we got a lot of “lip service”.
Beautiful House Needs more information up front
We stayed at the house the first week in April. This is the second VRBO we have rented. The house is beautiful and well laid out for a large family. We had a great time, the house was clean and although linen and towels are provided the sheets are scratchy (we washed them a few times and added fabric softener, after we went to the store, which helped a little) and you will need to make the beds yourself. Both HVAC units broke on our 2nd day. We called the rental office and they sent out repair guys same day. Parts had to be ordered so the units could not be fixed. We had AC upstairs only and if we switched back to heat the units would shut off and we could not use them. The HVAC repairman told us not to bother calling if the units shut down because there was nothing else they could do without the parts. The last 2 days were cold and the temperature in the house was 63 degrees which was not very pleasant especially with 2 toddlers. The rental agency does not provide any information up front which was contrary to our experience with other rentals. I had to call to find out the check in procedure as my email inquiry went un-answered. You should be aware that no basic supplies are provided which would have been good to know up front since we traveled from Wisconsin that includes NO toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, hand soap or dishwasher soap. The trash cans had no bags in them so upon arrival an immediate trip to the grocery store was required so we could use the restrooms and trash cans. If you cook you may want to bring a cutting board and sharp knives, the cutting boards are tempered glass and the knives are horribly dull. The WiFi cut out several times during the week requiring us to restart and we never could figure out how to use the sound bar.
Overall, the location is beautiful, the house is clean and has beautiful finishes. The rental agency could do a better job communicating up front on what is supplied and check in procedures. Yes, we would rent this house again and in the future we will inquire ahead of time on the particulars.

First, I thoroughly apologize for the broken HVAC system, unfortunately, we have no control over things breaking, however, we always try our best to find a solution to the problem so thank you, Kristi, for being so cooperative and understanding of the dysfunction. I also would like to apologize for the lack of communication that you received from the rental agency. Lastly, Although our kitchens are fully equipped, we do not supply toiletries, food or paper products in our units. We do however provide one roll of paper towel, a roll of tissue paper and one dishwasher detergent to get you started :) Thank you Kristi, we hope to 'SEA' you again!
No ocean view. No clean pool. No air conditioning. No customer service.
When we first arrived there were no towels. Pools weren’t cleaned. House is not ocean view despite the information. Air conditiong was not working so we did not have cool air for 3 days. The rental agents said they sent someone but obviously before i left it was not working. Pool was still dirty. Despite all the negative things about the house i enjoyed staying at oak island. Not because the house but because i enjoyed the time spent with my family. And yes i did let them know all of this yet they didn’t care.

I would like to take this time to apologize and address some of the concerns that you have listed in your review. The property you reserved is a 'Beach Walk' property, meaning that there is a public beach access at the end of the street that the home is on but not ocean views from the property. Better Beach Rentals also apologizes for the linens not being in the unit at the time of your arrival.The moment you notified the office of the mishap, housekeeping brought the linens down as soon as possible. As pool maintenance is an easy fix, in the future we would appreciate a phone call to report any problems during a stay so we can immediately remedy the situation to assure the best possible visit for our guests. Lastly, I would like to apologize for the air conditioner issues that you encountered during your stay. According to our reservation notes, our HVAC vendor came out to the property on 2/24/2018 and were told that the air conditioner was working, therefore; we were under the impression that the air conditioner was fully functional.
