We have had more fun checking guests in personally and telling them about our Outer Banks than you know and can't wait for future guests to come enjoy any one of our places. Mom made them super cute and beach themed. If you wanted to go on vacation with some other families but like your space also, we have the spot for you and our family restaurant , the Dunes is right behind you for breakfast, dinner, carry out and a full bar with no driving required. Our places are safe and secure with storage for beach gear. We are looking to add some bikes and kayaks for 2018 and looking to continue to improve our listing quality for our future guest from all over the world with what to to do on the Outer Banks.
In the event of a hurricane or threat of one and you need to cancel. Not a problem! We give a full refund. We do not wish to profit from a storm and we will hope you can rebook at a future date and pick us and Nags Head year after year.

The beach accesses
By close they are 50 yards on each side. The one to the north does have an out door shower and foot wash, but there is also a water hose on the north side of the house. If is blowing be sure to wash off your car. There is a spacious front porch to enjoy your coffee and catch a glimpse of the ocean and a back deck for a cocktail and a sunset you won't forget. Want to bring your boat? Not a problem. We have plenty of room to put even the biggest of trailer-able boats. There is lots to do. A 1000 foot pier, Jennette's, operated by the North Carolina Aquarium, is half a mile away for fishing and just to walk. Putt putt, go carts, and jet skis are across the street on the sound side, along with a public access. There are 10 restaurants within 3 miles. Fishing charters are available within a short drive down to Pirates Cove Marina. Nags Head Golf Links is 1 mile away with links style golf at its finest. Need someone to play with? Just let me know! They also gave me some discount cards. Hatteras ferry dock is an hour a way to the island of Ocracoke. My Family owns and operates the Dunes Restaurant for the past 34 years. We offer 20% off for breakfast and nightly to our guests, giving us a chance to get to know you and make sure your enjoying your stay. We love the area and know you will have a great time staying here with us in Nags Head.
On Roanoke Island you will find a bunch of stuff to do. One is the North Carolina Aquarium. Its one of several in the NC system and also hooked to Jennetts Pier. Its a good go to for the whole family, I like to take a date there to kill some time on a cloudy day. Lots of animals and fish and even a jelly fish viewing. For the price its worth is. There is also the Lost Colony play that recreates the first English settlement in 1587 and what they think happened. It only plays in summer though. Most of the actors are college students in preforming arts. It has true story behind it, Indians and gun fights, Singing and Dancing, and great costumes. Its 20 for any seat and 25 or 30 and you get to go back stage.
In downtown Manteo there are shops from fine art to beach stuff, 4 restaurants, one with a brewery, a distillery, a child play ground, a replica of a light house, my grandad was stationed on the real one, a historic boat building shop, some charter boats for hire, a pirate ship, and the oldest family run movie theater, that is only 7 per person and they have great popcorn.

About Patrick Pritchard
I am the middle son of the Pritchard family. Mom is a true Native to the Outer Banks with roots down the beach as far as 1749 Pop said. Dad is from Elizabeth City about an hour away and grew up vacationing on the beach. They bought the Dunes restaurant and the duplex property in 1982. Dad was a banker who wanted a change with two small boys, 3 and 1 and a little girl on the way, he thought this would be a way to get ahead. 35 years later we are still at it at the Dunes and our other pride and joy Grits Grill, a breakfast and lunch spot two, miles up the road. So we redid one side of the duplex and saw that it was getting some rents after we put it in the VRBO program, so we did this side also. They are cool propertys for couples of small familys. I grew up at the north end of Roanoke Island, where the Lost Colony settled back in 1587. Had a great child hood on the Outer Banks. There is so much to do. Hunting, fishing, boating, 4 wheeler s, chasing girls, beach time, summer jobs, winter breaks. We were always involved in school programs as well as church stuff. One of my favorite hobbies is golf which I picked up at 16 but was able to get good quick. Still love to play just don't get the time. Went to a small school of Campbell University where is spent 4 and 1/2 years to get a Business Degree. Moved to Atlanta to work for a race marketing company and then a golf company before moving back to the OBX to work for the family running Grits Grill and then back to the Dunes where I am today. I live close by with my best friend, a 10 year old Black Lab, Sam. We hope you choose our spot to visit the Outer Banks.
Patrick Pritchard purchased this Cottage in 1982
Why Patrick Pritchard chose Nags Head
We are listing this property because of its location to so many things in our area and THE BEACH is right across the street. Hard to say much more. If you cant relax here at Mom's Home Away From Home, then we need to have a long talk and maybe a cocktail or two!

Our cottage was perfect
The hurricane didn't make much of an impact so we enjoyed nags head a lot. So much to do and see
Comfortable, convenient, and relaxing...
My wife and I, and our 2 kids were thrilled with our stay! Patrick was extremely accommodating and helpful with anything we may have needed. But we didn't need a thing! We walked into a clean, comfortable, and private place with all the modern conveniences. Everything within walking distance. A handsome comfortable place that was accessible and within our budget. We plan on returning to Nags Head some day, and would enjoy our stay again I'm sure. I would recommend this place to family and friends.
Awesome, clean place
This place was beautiful, very clean, cute decorations. It's close (with in walking distance) to anything you need! There's shopping, a small market, tons of great dinning & most importantly the beach! The picture on the website don't do this place justice. Living room area was much bigger than expected & tons of space in the kitchen. Patrick was so kind & responsive to any questions we had while there. Overall great experience! I would definitely stay here again if we come back next year.
Clean and close to the beach
Nice clean place. Owner was very friendly. Two minute walk to the beach. Great place to stay.
My husband and I had a great time at Nags Head!
The cottage style vacation home and accommodations exceeded our expectations!
Decorated with beach decor added to our relaxing time at the beach and area. The home was superbly clean, and equipped with everything we needed. It was within walking distance to the beach, shopping, grocery store, and restaurants which added to the pace and relaxation we were looking for. You won't be disappointed staying in this cottage style vacation home!!
Fantastic stay close to beach
The property was clean and offered ample parking. Owner was friendly, accommodating and non intrusive. The other side of the rental was also being used, but there were no disturbances during our stay. The space was smaller than we expected, but functional with 4 people. The dining area was a small table and two chairs or counter and three bar stools making it impossible to eat together. It is newly remodeled and decorated in a comfortable atmosphere. Plenty of dishes and cookware included. The small bathroom was clean, but lacked storage or counter space of any kind. The back porch entrance was through a bedroom and didn't appeal to us. It offered a look at the back of the restaurant and retail shops. The roadside front porch offered 4 rockers and glimpses of the ocean between other properties. The walk was close and easy to get to the beach. Ghost crabs are abundant at dusk and beyond on the beach. They are funny and/or creepy creatures..... I still haven't decided :) We saw dolphins at sunrise, got our toes pinched by crabs in the surf, soaked in the sun and had a great week. Many things to do in the area besides the beach. Some of our favorites: numerous lighthouse climbs, Kitty Kawk Kites, Jockey Ridge State Park and Whalebone fish market. Dunes Restaurant is conveniently located next door and we took advantage of savings card presented to us at checkin. Excellent calamari and breakfast buffet. We enjoyed our stay in Nags Head! ☀️🦀🐬😎
The Outer Banks is a wonderful area to enjoy a verity of activities. From the beach to the sound or from one end to the other there is something to see and do in every corner. The Lost Colony is the story of the first English settlers and what they think happened to them. Its the oldest outdoor drama in America. The Wright Brothers flew off of Jockeys Ridge in 1903. There are 5 Light houses to see and a couple you can climb. Sport fishing, sound fishing, crab pot pulling and shrimp charters are available. Duck hunting in the fall and winter. 200 or so privately owned restaurants. The beach accesses have free parking. Certain times of the year you can get a beach driving permit and drive on the beach and fish. The list goes on and on. Please ask me for details.
