Pinecrest memories

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing place with a beautiful scenery. It has a flowing river in the back.

The house is huge, ideal for reunion. The rooms are clean and huge.

Jim Briner has assured us that we will have a wonderful vacation. Amd we had.

I will definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives.

Wonderful Time!

  • 5 of 5

A perfect place for a family celebration especially with 2 9 year olds and a 13 year old. The three had a great time playing the the water and climbing on the rocks. I am so happy that we found this place and hopefully the next time our Australian family comes to town we can come here again.

We loved the lower section outdoors to visit and play games while watching the water go down the river.

Thanks for having your home available for us to use.

Location was perfect for daily fishing, and outside activities. Hiking, boating, and swimming (cold water) neighbors were welcoming. Stores within walking distance great location.. will do it again in a couple years.

Huge Disappointing Trip

  • 1 of 5

We rented this cabin for some fun in the snow and a little fishing. Prior to the trip, we had several interactions with Jim (owner) to discuss a few things. A snow system had just moved through the area and we wanted to be sure the area was going to be plowed/shoveled which Jim assured us it would be.

We spent a good hour trying to find the cabin because of lack of markings and a poor shovel job. There wasn't sufficient parking cleared for the number of guests advertised on the ad. The other guests would have been forced to park in other driveways had they stayed. Two other guests who arrived later that night were unable to make their way to the cabin because of the walkway being poorly cleared as well misrepresented in the pictures. The pictures do not show an accurate depiction of the length, slope, or danger of walking down the icy walkway to the cabin. We had on person slip, fall, and subsequently break her leg because of the unsafe conditions. My spouse spoke to Jim on the phone that same night and agreed it sounded like the snow clearing had not occurred. Things were not going as planned and said we could stay the night and he'd refund us. The other guests turned and went home disappointed in the outcome of everything thus far. I ended up staying the night since it was now after dark and exhausted from all the drama thus far.

The fireplace had duct tape around the gas line, for god knows why. Every single smoke detector went off just using the oven. Washing machine drain was backed up still from the previous occupants (we know because they left a note). I find this alarming because had their been damage done to the cabin there was potential for me to be held liable since a walkthrough wasn't conducted. I have pictures and video of everything I've listed as verifiable proof, it's unfortunate I'm not allowed to upload them in the review process.

So yeah we got our refund, for one night. Sad to say when Jim had said we could stay the night it wasn't actually out of kindness and we ended having to pay anyway(including VRBO/cleaning fees) for one night of horror . Had I known that was going to occur I would have risked driving home that same night, however, I have a feeling I would have been charged regardless. I'd venture to say I would have spent less money and had less hassle just staying at a local hotel.

Positives are the cabin is on the water and is a nice view.

Great mountain getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This home was everything as advertised...and more! More than enough room to spread out for large groups, between the 5 bedrooms and three bathrooms...and multiple outdoor decks. We never felt like we were on top of each other. Kitchen had all the utensils and appliances you might expect. You can't beat the location right on the river.

Gorgeous River Location, thoughtful host

  • 5 of 5

This house has everything you need to escape busy life and relax on the river. Our first night was freezing. The heaters were easy to use and the beds had great warm blankets on them. The living room is has very comfortable couches and fireplace. Luckily the weather warmed up and we got to relax by the river. The lower deck furniture is very comfortable and the huge rocks are fun to lounge on. The river feels like your private oasis. Bring everything you need because hanging out at this house with friends is all you’re going to want to do. If you feel like leaving our host gave us a great tip: the hike around Pinecrest lake is worth every step.
