Información de la propiedad
Cheerful 1960s cottage with railway carriage near Jurassic Coast, West Dorset
Roselands is a simple but delightful timber bungalow in the village of Portesham, next to Abbotsbury and close to the Dorset coast. The house is situated in a secluded location close to the center of the village and has delightful and well-planted gardens to front and back, full of colour and interest during the summer months. It is a bungalow with a London South Western Railway carriage attached to one side. It has been completely restored to give you a comfortable stay.
Roselands has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two single beds. The kitchen has been decorated in the 1960's look which is fully kitted out and leads to the boot room where you can hang your coats.
Roselands has 2 bathrooms. One has a shower, loo, and basin and the second bathroom has the original bath and loo.
A spacious hall with a keyboard for any musicians leads to the sitting room with wonderful views down the garden, an open fire, and access to the railway carriage. The carriage offers a garden room for peace to do a puzzle or read a book, and the dining room for the extra special meal.
Roselands is beautifully furnished and is a cottage of great charm. It has a delightful and warm atmosphere, full of sun and light. To the front it has a most attractive aspect looking down the long garden and to the back it looks across the roofs of the village and towards the hills behind. There is a large sunny patio at the front of the house, as well as cool shady areas for those (all too few) really hot days.
Portesham itself is perfectly situated for a great Dorset coast holiday.
There is an excellent pub, the Kings Arms, just around the corner from Roselands with a large garden, and just beyond, on the main road, there is a large and well-run farm shop.
The village is situated on the Jurassic World Heritage coastline, just behind the remarkable Chesil Beach and within easy walking distance (along an old railway) to Abbotsbury, famous for its ancient swannery and superb sub-tropical gardens. To the east is Weymouth with its large sandy beach and formal attractions, such as the SeaLife Centre, and a few miles to the north is the county town of Dorchester which also has a good range of attractions as well as the huge and impressive Neolithic earthworks of Maiden Castle nearby.
To the east, beyond Abbotsbury and just a few minutes drive away, is another beach at Burton Bradstock, with Bridport, (renowned for its great Saturday street market) and West Bay harbour beyond.
Finally, the Dorset coast scenery is renowned for its beauty and variety, whether seen from the Portesham to Bridport coast road or visited on foot. There are fabulous walks direct from Roselands, including a memorable walk up the hill to the famous Hardy’s Monument that offers the most fantastic views far and wide.
Roselands offers you a wonderful holiday!
