About Pam Page Carpenter, Ph.D.-Host
I am a native of Garner, NC. Garner has the feel of a small town, great communities and people (Garner-known for Scotty McCreery) yet close to universities and the city. It's the best of both worlds. My Dad was an advocate for saving green space and farms so he purchased this land to save it from future development. My husband Don and I look forward to being your hosts for your stay and want to ensure that you enjoy your visit. We created this dog friendly space since we travel with our dogs and always look for homes with a fenced in yard, safe community, and comfort.
Why Pam Page Carpenter, Ph.D.-Host chose Raleigh
The land was granted by the King of England to a local family so the story goes. The majority of this land was where Black Angus cows were raised and roamed the acres of pasture. The back section of the community next door is where tobacco was raised. This was a large working farm back in its day.
What makes this House unique
Eco-friendly with bamboo floors, no VOC paint, raised dog beds and bowls await your four-legged family members. New appliances-washer/dryer, refrigerator, stove/oven Dog-friendly with fully fenced in yard Rural setting yet close to small towns (Garner, Clayton, Fuquay) and downtown Raleigh Eleven (11) miles to NC State Close to restaurants, shopping, and dog friendly places Lake Benson Park is a short drive from the bungalow for your four legged family members and you to explore There's always something to do whether it's kayaking on the lake or down the river, hiking, festivals, exploring historic sites, brewery and winery tours-this area has an abundance of things to do and see.

Perfect for guests with dogs
We loved our stay! Two couples and two dogs stayed for 8 days, and the dogs had a blast in the spacious fenced yard. The scenery is lovely, and we appreciated the nice little touches like a water cooler, basic kitchen staples, and supplies like soap and detergent. Our host Pam was very understanding when one dog damaged the door frame; we only paid a very reasonable fee to repair the damage.
Thank you for staying at the bungalow and glad you all enjoyed your stay in Raleigh! I greatly appreciate you letting me know about the door so we could schedule repair. Thanks for the review.
Great place for traveling with dogs
We recently were heading back to our home after evacuating for the hurricane. We needed a stopover for a few days in Raleigh until we could get home, and this had opened up. The owner was great with being flexible knowing we were stressed out with the storm and there was uncertainty about when we could return to our house. It's the perfect property for traveling with dogs because they had a little fenced in yard. It feels like you are out in the country, but it's a short drive to shopping, restaurants and downtown Raleigh. My husband loved getting lunch at the taco truck down the street! Thank you for being patient and gracious hosts!
It was wonderful to have you all as guests despite the situation with the hurricane. It's also good to know that your husband liked the food at the taco truck so I can pass this on to other guests. Thanks for staying at the bungalow!
My husband, our dog Happy and myself stayed here when we had to Evacuate for a hurricane. We were so pleasantly surprised upon our arrival, Pam & Don have that little bungalow dialed right in. Everything we needed, super comfortable, clean and so dog friendly. They are also very kind and generous as we had to leave but had no where to go back to yet and everything was booked. They had a last minute cancellation and gave us the extra 2 days. I felt that was above & beyond...they really helped my little family out during a stressful time. The bungalow itself is on a very nice, quiet and lush piece of property just far enough out of town that it feels like the country but in reality, it is just a hop, skip and a jump away from anything you may want or need. Absolute winner!
We enjoyed having all of you at the bungalow, but I wish it had been under different circumstances. We hope that everything is OK at your home after the hurricane. It was a great to meet Happy and your husband during your stay.
Very convenient and pet friendly
We drove down from Michigan to NC for a friends wedding with our two dogs and this rental was perfect. Although we did not get to spend much time in it ourselves, our dogs did and they were very comfortable there. The fenced in yard was wonderful and clean, there were raised platform dog beds and bowls provided. The owner, Pam, is wonderful if you need anything, she needed to access the rental while we were out and let our dogs out to go to the bathroom and gave them some treats. The rental was in a great location between Raleigh and the wedding making it easy to get to and from events. There is plenty of great shopping and places around if needed. We told our friends about this rental if they ever have family coming down to stay to take advantage of it.
It was great to have all of you as guests. We appreciate your patience with the Spectrum issue which has now been resolved. Don and I enjoyed meeting your four legged kids and sharing some organic snacks while the technician worked on the cable. Thank you for taking the time to review the bungalow.
A nice, dog friendly home!
The house was the right size for 4 of us and 3 dogs. It is set up very dog friendly with the fenced in yard, not much to get into, and dog beds and bowls provided. The view was very pretty. I definitely appreciate a nice dog friendly rental.
My only complaints are that we ran out of hot water everyday after only one or two people showering. The house was also VERY warm even with the air on. I wish there were some fans and maybe a twin bed or air mattress in the extra office space.
Thanks for staying at the bungalow and I wasn't aware of the issues with the hot water or the air conditioning. until your review. The bungalow is only 1,000 square so we have worked to create a comfortable and dog-friendly space for everyone which includes a leather loveseat in the master bedroom and a leather sofa in the living room which is very comfortable for sleeping for those who prefer a separate space. The AC was recently checked so I will have the HVAC people check it again.
Lovely property, close to everything, had just what we needed!
We loved our stay at this house in Raleigh! My husband and I traveled with our infant and dog, and this place had everything we needed, including a great fenced in yard for our dog to roam and space for all of us in the master bedroom. There were dog beds and bowls. We ran into Pam as we were both leaving one day and she was very friendly and welcoming. We stayed here while we were house hunting and we'll definitely be recommending it for family and friends when they visit!
There are multiple parks and greenways a short drive away. Ask your host about massage therapists for humans and dogs, yoga studios, wine tastings, food truck rodeos and other events.
