Exploring the wonders of the surroundings is effortless, with a myriad of paths, woodland trails, and stunning gardens waiting to be discovered. Situated just off the Camel Trail, you can step outside your front door, don your boots or cycling gear, and embark on a captivating 17-mile journey along the Camel Valley, stretching from Wenford Bridge to Padstow, passing through Bodmin and Wadebridge

If you're eager for further adventures, a short drive from Gwendreath will take you to Lanhydrock, managed by the National Trust, and Cardinham Woods, overseen by the Forestry Commission. At Gwendreath itself, you'll have the exclusive privilege of private seasonal fishing rights on the River Camel, a mere 150 meters from the cottage. Simply arrange this with the owner, ensuring you provide proof of a valid rod license and adhere to local angling regulations if you wish to partake in the private fishing experience.

The nearest town, Bodmin, offers a host of local attractions to explore. Delve into the history of Bodmin Jail and Bodmin Keep, home to Cornwall's Army Museum. For your day-to-day needs, the town boasts several supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, and shops, along with a cinema. You can even take a leisurely walk from the cottage to the Borough Arms, where you can enjoy a traditional pub menu.

Within a convenient 30-minute drive, the North Coast destinations of Polzeath, Rock, and Padstow await, providing an array of coastal walks, beautiful beaches, and thrilling surfing and bodyboarding opportunities. On the South Coast, you'll find Fowey, Polperro, and Looe, all reachable within 40 minutes by car. And let's not forget the mystical and captivating Bodmin Moor, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty right at your doorstep. Delve into its wonders, which include Neolithic and Bronze Age remains, intriguing stone circles, and striking tors waiting to be explored.



Accommodation

A few steps from the parking area lead down to the path and the front door of the property, where you'll step up into the cosy snug. The snug features a charming wood-burning stove, two chairs, a tiled floor, and a beamed ceiling. The staircase to the first floor and doors leading to the kitchen and sitting room can be found in the snug. The kitchen, though small, is well-equipped with a tiled floor, fitted cupboards and wall units, granite worktops, a dishwasher, washing machine, an electric hob cooker, and a fridge/freezer. The sitting room is a spacious and comfortable carpeted space that maximizes the stunning views through a large picture window. A 60" smart TV hangs on the wall above another wood-burning stove, accompanied by two chairs. Two sofas face each other in the centre of the room, and two additional chairs are set up to allow you to relax and enjoy the countryside views from the picture window. A door leads from the sitting room to the conservatory, which features glazed windows that offer splendid views of the garden, meadow, and valley. With a tiled floor, a dining table with six chairs, and a door leading out to the garden, the conservatory is a perfect space to make the most of your time.

From the snug, a traditional and carpeted steep staircase with rope handrails takes you up to the first floor. There are nine steps, and at the top, there is an additional step on three sides leading to the three bedrooms and the bathroom. On the left, you'll find a bunk bedroom with timber 3ft bunk beds, an exposed stone wall, beautiful floorboards, and a window. Straight ahead is the Master Bedroom, which boasts a King size bed, a window with a seat, and beautiful floorboards. The third bedroom offers zip link 3-foot beds that can be arranged as either a twin or a super king, and it features an exposed stone wall, a window, and beautiful floorboards. The bathroom on this floor has a vinyl floor and is equipped with a glazed enclosed shower, a bath, a basin, and a toilet.

Throughout the property, double glazing ensures comfort, and a combination of electric heating and cosy wood burners maintains pleasant temperatures throughout the year.

To reach Gwendreath, follow an unpaved lane from the main road, leading directly to the property. Adjacent to the cottage, there is an open parking area with enough space for two cars. Gwendreath boasts a south-facing garden that offers captivating views of the meadow and woodland. As you bask in the tranquillity, the melodic tunes of songbirds and the gentle sound of the nearby River Camel create a soothing ambiance. The garden is partially enclosed and features benches where you can sit back and relax. Additionally, there is a firepit and BBQ, allowing you to indulge in delightful alfresco dining while witnessing the mesmerizing sunset.For your convenience, the owner has thoughtfully provided a timber shed on the premises. Inside, you'll find a selection of logs, kindling, BBQ bags, and firelighters available for purchase via an honesty box. The shed is strategically positioned, providing an excellent vantage point for observing the local wildlife, with bird books and binoculars thoughtfully provided. It also serves as a secure storage space for your bicycles and beach gear, ensuring everything is kept safe and organized.
