Come enjoy this elegant honeymoon cottage surrounded by ancient live oaks just steps from the beach and a short walk to the pier and village. Sip cocktails or coffee on your private porch surrounded by the branches of the magestic live oaks with the ocean breezes. This tree top cottage is an excellent bird watching perch- hummingbirds, woodpeckers, and songbirds. Walk down the beach to the village for excellent dining, shopping, and concerts in the oceanfront park. This cottage offers fabulous sunsets and a quiet private location only blocks from the hub of the island. This one bedroom cottage features a private porch nestled in the trees, a great room with vaulted ceiling, full kitchen, dining area with additional dining available on the porch. This beach cottage is modern yet built with the charming character of the old St. Simons beach cottages in mind. The large bedroom has a king size bed and a large bathroom with a walk in shower. This beach cottage is full of windows allowing the natural light and the views of the beautiful moss-draped live oaks. The cottage is owned by a family of local artists who have been island residents for generations. The cottage is full of their stunning original paintings. The tree-lined drive ends in a grassy lawn before the ocean. This romantic retreat has great cell service but is a television and Wi-Fi free zone. We hope that will add to your peaceful, unplugged respite. Owner is a licensed real estate professional.

About Melanie Barger
It has been a blessing to me to grow up on St. Simons Island and now to rear my own children here. Surrounded by the ocean, marshes, rivers, moss-draped live oaks, a day does not pass where I am not in awe of the beauty around me. I am an artist by nature and education and a licensed real estate professional by trade.

Why Melanie Barger chose King City
This honeymoon beach cottage is located in my favorite part of this beautiful island. The tidal beach here is the most secluded on the island. The sunsets are beautiful. If the tide is low, you can walk down the beach to the west at sunset and see and hear the bagpipers playing at Sea Island's Lodge. If the tide is high, you can watch the sunset from the grassy common area and enjoy the refreshing breezes. The beach cottage is a short walk up the beach or through a tree-lined neighborhood from the the heart of the island with village, pier, lighthouse, parks, restaurants, festivals, concerts, and shops. Although the cottage is close to the activity, it is tucked away on a side avenue by the ocean and surrounded by moss-draped live oaks. I love bird-watching from the front porch while enjoying morning coffee. Some of my fondest memories of my childhood and that of my children have been enjoyed on the beach and beachfront lawns of this part of the island. This part of the island has a rich history of hospitality, I am thrilled to be able to share this special place with others.
What makes this House unique
The location is tops and so is the privacy. The cottage itself is elegant, charming, and spacious for a couple. The front porch is delightful. The high ceilings and many windows are a plus. Fresh flowers, coffee set-up, and a couple of bikes for cruising the island will make your get-away at this honeymoon beach cottage even better.

My Wife, and I enjoyed a very peaceful weekend in this lovely little cottage. It's very well appointed and comfortable. The pictures shown on the VRBO website of the cottage are exactly what you find when you arrive. The location was ideal on a quiet side street just a few steps from the village. We kept our vehicle parked most of the weekend and just walked to everything we were interested in doing. Melanie provided us with great communication and was the consummate host with thoughtful touches like fresh flowers in the bedroom.
We would highly recommend this convenient little hideaway for anyone who is looking to decompress and recharge their batteries.
Beautiful house, close to everything. The owner is very nice and thoughtful
The cottage was very nice. The bed was comfortable and everything was good.
This location was perfect. We walked everywhere and it’s close enough to Savannah so we spent a day there. The only thing I would change is we really would have liked a television. The neighbors next door had a fire and music outside our bedroom window very late in the evening and a television would have helped drown out the noise. I never saw the two white chairs looking over the water. Those pictures were a bit misleading. I thought there was a place to sit looking over the water and there wasn’t. The bikes were a bit worn so we rented bikes from a great place in town. Restaurants were great. My favorite was Palmers. I’m a chef and this one was on point with flavor and service. We loved the quaintness and so thankful for a comfortable bed!!
There are chairs available for guests to use at the common grassy area overlooking the ocean as shown in the photo. I wish that you had asked about that, so that we could have made sure that you enjoyed that part of your visit. The cottage is advertised as a TV-free escape. I apologize for the neighbors noise level. Georgia-Florida weekend is the one weekend a year on the island that there is late night noise.
Amazing, relaxing vacation spot
We loved staying in the cottage. It's a great location and Melanie provided wonderful tips and information that made our stay perfect.
Perfect location; great get away
This cottage is in the best location on St. Simons; a short walk to the village restaurants and shops, and the pier and lighthouse, and an even shorter walk to view the water. Melanie has created a wonderful get away with real art, a sweet porch, comfy furniture, a stocked kitchen, roomy bath and bicycles. Internet? TV?... nope, but missing that electronic distraction was a plus when making our choice of places on the island, and we did not miss it. Thanks Melanie.
Thank you so very much for staying at our beach cottage. I’m glad that you enjoyed it! Your thoughtful review is greatly appreciated. Please come come again. It was such a pleasure to host you.
Good location, very clean
House was as expected, nice area, great restaurants. Owner went out of her way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Only recommendation would be to clear a few shrubs by the road and pour a parking pad and sidewalk to home. We enjoyed our stay.
