About this property
Great Sunset View Riverfront Cottage- Amazing Sunsets!!
Riverfront cottage located on the St. Lawrence River in Cape Vincent NY. Quaint riverfront cottage has 2 bedrooms, plus a pull out couch to sleep 6 comfortably. There is a large covered deck which allows you to stay out of the sun if you wish or still be outside on that occasional rainy day. A washer and dryer in the cottage make long-term rental an excellent convenience. Enjoy spectacular sunsets over the river on the lawn or on the large covered deck with views of Carleton and Wolfe Islands. There is also a deck over the water to have drink and enjoy refreshing river breezes. Approximately 70 feet of river frontage allows for excellent swimming and fishing. The water is shallow by the shore and gradually gets deeper. The river bottom at the shore is flat bedrock which is great for kids (nicknamed "Mermaid Rock" by a previous guest), easy on the feet and great for just sitting and cooling off!
Enjoy what the 1000 Islands region has to offer. The St Lawrence River is known for some of the best freshwater fishing in the United States. Annual events in Cape Vincent include the French Festival and 4th of July Celebration. A quick trip down the road is Clayton which hosts the annual Wildlife and Decoy show, The New York State Food and Wine Festival , the annual Thousand Islands Boat Show, as well as antique and craft shows. You can also take a day trip to nearby Alexandria Bay for a visit the historic Boldt Castle or Singer Castle, take a boat tour of the Island Mansions or participate in the annual Pirates weekend. An inexpensive ferry ride stopping at Wolfe Island will bring you to Kingston Ontario for a fantastic day trip. Locally, a wine tasting tour is a great way to spend an afternoon. The region has numerous outstanding wineries including the Cape Winery, the 1000 Islands Winery, and Coyote Moon just to name a few.
Boating on the St Lawrence river is legendary. Take the 35 minute boat ride Tibbetts Point Lighthouse in Cape Vincent where the St Lawrence River and Lake Ontario meet. Other popular boating destinations that are close by for swimming include Potter's Beach on Grindstone Island, Dodge Bay and Sand Bay on the Cape Vincent mainland (both very close by) and the bay at Picton Island. Along the way you will pass many islands and coves if you want to anchor and swim with few (if any) other boats in the area. Carleton Island is popular with boaters and is the main view from the Cottage. Visit North Bay on Carleton Island where the historic British Fort, Fort Haldimand, once stood in the late 1700's and early 1800's. You can also see the remains of the Carleton Island Villa, a remnant from the gilded age of castles here in the Thousand Islands (late 1800's-early 1900's).
The deck over the water is shared with one other adjacent cottage as are the grills (2) and Picnic Tables (2) If you have a larger party, you can book them both! See listing 1141103.

This cottage has everything needed for a fun & relaxing getaway! Fabulous location with unbelievable views ! Dave & Heather were great hosts and readily available with any issues. We didn't realize the pilot light was not lit and Heather was there is minutes. Close to attractions, yet in a peaceful, quite location! One of the nicest Vrbos we've stayed in ! Highly recommend!
I can't say enough about our stay here. The cottage has everything you need and I mean everything! The front deck is a wonderful place to sit on and have your meals and watch sunsets while overlooking the river. We enjoyed having campfires at night with our neighbors. David is so easy going and easy to communicate with. He really made sure to answer any questions we had always responded right away. I highly recommend a stay here - it was everything we could have imagined!

Excellent cottage!
Stayed here September 21-28, 2018 from Ohio. I can't say enough about this cottage and location! Not knowing the area we felt so blessed that we picked this cottage! You can't ask for a better view and it is right on the river. No view obstructions and my husband loved watching the freighters coming and going. The location is perfect for driving from Cape Vincent to Clayton to Alexandria Bay. The village of Cape Vincent may seem small but they have very good restaurants with excellent service and food. It turned out to be our favorite place to relax and eat. The cottage is clean and very comfortable. Plenty of towels, bedding, dishes. Loved being able to do some laundry before going home. The pictures really don't do it justice! The yard, fire pit, plenty of outside chairs, and the wrap around porch with large table were perfect. Loved all the full view glass windows. If I needed to talk to David he was always very helpful and returned calls or text promptly. We will definitely come back here. I recommend booking early to get this gem!.

Thank you so much Debbie! It was great to meet you both and we would love to see you next year!
My son and I had a wonderful, relaxing stay which was exactly what we wanted. The cottage was great, with a wonderful view. Check-in was easy and Dave was just a text or phone call away if we needed anything. We will definitely be back! Thank you.
Beautiful property with breathtaking sunsets and just far enough away from the tourist attractions. Excellent communication with the owners, Dave and Heather. The cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. This was our second stay on the property and we plan to visit again.

Absolutely beautiful and well taken care of
We were here early in the season (Memorial Day) so it was cool and the water was up, but that did not diminish the beauty of this location and the coziness of the cottage. Beds are comfy, plenty of seating for everyone. The covered outdoor area was wonderful for being outside during the rain and still enjoying the outdoors. Kitchen is well equipped with all the basics you will need. We will definitely be back!!

Superb river stay!
You cannot beat the river view and all the ways to enjoy it. From the large covered porch to Adirondack chairs by the fire pit, to a deck right at the water, shallow rocks to play on or swim from and a dock for fishing! The sunsets were incredible! The cottage itself is lovely and very well equipped. It is so well equipped that it was a challenge to find places to put our own things (except for the master bedroom).
The owner was very eager to answer all our questions before we arrived and even went out and found a rocking chair when we asked if one was there. With an almost 1 year old grandson, the rocker made fussy times much easier!
We'll definitely be back, probably with an ajmost 2 year old grandson!!
