Awesome Escape!

This property was amazing! Our family enjoyed the privacy and yet closeness to town. The pool was fun for the kids and outdoor space amazing to relax after a day of exploring. Internet was great allowing for remote work.

What an incredible stay for my family and I in La Fortuna. The house was clean, the beds were comfortable and the AC's in the room were cold. The house host was very kind and available for anything we needed. The pool area was clean and we spent every night lounging around enjoying the sounds of nature. We had 5 people and had more than enough room. One of the best VRBO's I've stayed in. I have zero complaints. The remote gate to enter definitely made if feel completely safe. Close enough to town you could walk, but we never did. (Not great sidewalks and could be dangerous, because of vehicles, not the area)

Amazing

Absolutely perfect place for a large family of 11! Giselle cooked breakfast for us the first day. The home is close enough to walk to a grocery store, some restaurants and a great swimming hole! We enjoyed the pool, the hammocks and watching the sloths and macaws in nearby trees. We felt safe the entire time. I would highly recommend this place!

Home is showing age, needs more dishware and unsure of the safety of the area

I would consider staying again and would compare with other options first. The Arenal Family Home is showing its age but has a few perks. The bedrooms have an excessive number of beds and most of them are comfy. There is also sufficient floor space in the rooms for suitcases which is needed as there are very few drawers and dressers for clothing. The home provides a mostly bug free accommodation for about 14-16 people but only blankets for 10. The kitchen has 4 cupboards screwed shut which is okay as there are many cupboards and less dishware. More bowls are needed (ideally 1 for each guest) and a baking sheet would also reduce the creatively required for cooking. I would also suggest to bring your own spices as the only spice included is white sugar. Dishwashing is completed in intimate proximity to each other as there is no dishwasher and the single sink is near the corner. The stove and oven are run from a portable propane bottle which may run out at an inconvenient time from experience. Outside there is lovely pool in a picturesque setting. Unfortunately, navigating into the pool has some hazards as the concrete slopes are dreadfully slippery when wet. In addition, there are two steps inside the pool on the edges which are the same color as the bottom and will test the durability of your shin bones. Lastly, internet search March 26th 2025 La Fortuna in Spanish as there was an altercation early in the morning and heavy police presence.

This is a very beautiful property that nicely and comfortably accommodated our group of 8 adults. It's spacious, pool area is great, 13 minute walk to town and shorter for a couple close restaurants. We felt very safe! Giselle is a lovely host and we accepted the option for an on-site meal for a couple of our lunches.

Great place

This was perfect for our family of nine. It very close to the water hole that everyone likes to swim in. It was walking distance to a couple restaurants. The kitchen had plenty of supplies and room for everyone. The host was on site and was very friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend it.

Amazing family location

We had the best time here. We had a group of 11 including 6 adults and 5 kids from 3 to 8 years old. The pool isn't deep so it worked really well with the kids. The operators of the property are really responsive over WhatsApp and helped us get some good deals on tours. The proximity to town is also really convenient with a short walk or 1000 colones for an Uber.Would highly recommend this location and we had an amazing time.

Huge lot, many fun outdoor spaces for everyone. Grass area, pool, lounging area. Lots of tables. Loved having a washer and dryer. Especially in the rainforest.

Great place on the edge of town!

The house was great, we managed to fit 13 people without much issue! Location was great, only a minute from downtown La Fortuna. The outdoor space was amazing, our kids basically lived at the pool and we enjoyed cooking on the open grill under the covered portico. The house was super clean, we would definitely recommend staying here if you need a large house close to town.

Great communication before we arrived and throughout stay. Check in very thorough. Beds we used were all comfortable. Location very convenient. Area felt safe plus gate around property. Pool very fun, nice, and clean. Great food around town and Mystico Hanging bridges were really fun!!!

Don’t reserve if traveling with adults

The house looks much bigger and open in the pictures. Some of the room descriptions stated 1 double/1 twin but it did not state the twin was a bunk beds. The stairs leading upstairs were extremely narrow. They were dangerous for kids and elders. It was extremely hard to carry luggage. The shower upstairs did not drain. One listed 2 bunk beds but was extremely small with not room for luggage my sister and nice ended sleeping on the couch.

Beautiful home, excellent location

Home is as pictured. Clean and spacious! Was great to have two covered outdoor seating options in addition to the large inside dinning table. Rooms quickly cool off with individual AC units. Great to have washer/dryer. As many other reviews mentioned, walking distance to great restaurants, grocery stores, shops. Yet still a quiet neighborhood. We preferred Super Rosvil (2 min drive/10 min walk, better selection) for groceries over Mega Super. Is less than 10 min walk to El Salto (rope swing and waterfall - a must do!). Eder and Alan from Home Vacations were quick to respond before and during our stay. Felt safe! Driveway is gated and home has alarm system. We were disappointed to have missed out on a meal with Guiselle. Next time! Would definitely stay again! Highly recommend!

Wonderful stay!!!

This was such a wonderful home and we enjoyed every part of it! The house was clean, comfortable, and in a great location to the main area of La Fortuna! The hosts were so helpful on our journey from San Jose because of rain and made sure we had all the information we needed to make a safe journey. They drove us to our home to give us a tour and made sure we had everything we needed. Guiselle and her cooking made this trip a dream! She was so welcoming and the food was amazing. We were even asking her for her secrets! Definitely a great place for a family to stay!

Great location, great property.

It is a very nicely located， everything is 10 minutes or less. Owner lives just next door. The washet and dryer us a huge plus since it rains everyday. It does have a few issues with the house but it didn't bother us. The plumbing is old, needed fixing or replacement. Otherwise it is good with teens.

On 2018 we create The House of Tours to provide our guests the best experiences during their stay in La Fortuna/Arenal Volcano area, we have the best tours and transportation services/rates in the area.

We manage/own about 40 properties in La Fortuna, we have a wide variety of options: private bedrooms, apartments, cabins, homes and villas up to 16 people some of them with private pool, hot tubs, nice opens areas, creeks nearby and more facilities.
