About Kim Chasse
Hello, Welcome to Kitty's Lake House, the home I designed and built in honor of the memory of my Mother, who was as unique as you will find this home and the breathtaking spot it rests on. I grew up in Millinocket and moved to southern Maine where I work as a high school art teacher. My vacations always brought me home to this amazing place which gave me the incentive to build this one of a kind property. Enjoy! Kim Chasse

Beautiful Eclectic Home Nestled in the Woods on a Lake in Maine
A group of us were looking for a place to stay in Millinocket for the Millinocket Marathon. We came upon Kitty's place and decided to check it out. We were not disappointed. Both the views and house were beautiful. It was conveniently located to Millinocket, NEOC, and the rest of the Katahdin area. The hosts communicated well and were there for us if we needed them.
Sorry Excellent stay. Unique property with unbelievable views
Owners are super responsive to questions. Answered promptly and made recommendations on local must-see attractions. Enjoy the views off the back deck. You won’t regret it.
Convenient access to Baxter in a great house with great views
A truly unique place to stay. This property is whimsical and charming while still providing everything you need for your stay. Plenty of sleeping space, multiple bathrooms and a great kitchen are all part of the package. The kitchen is well stocked (with cookware and utensils), games are on hand and a DVD and album collection are even available for your rainy day entertainment.
The views from the house and decks are spectacular. The neighboring houses are fairly close but in truth you never really notice them during your stay thanks to the trees between the properties.
Access to the lake is good, a little steep but not a problem for most folks. We had no issues taking our kayaks up and down each day to paddle the lake. The fire pit located on the beach at first seemed dysfunctional but turned out to be quite a nice setting. Arranging the people around the fire took a little practice but we figured it out pretty quickly and spent several nights at the waters edge. Firewood is not provided but is readily available in Millinocket, kindling is easy to find up and down the train tracks, be respectful (as we were) of other properties as several of the adjacent cabins are homes and not vacation rentals.
The railroad tracks passing between the lake and the home may seem like a turn off but they provided far more entertainment than inconvenience. Two to four trains passed by each day and everyone ran outside to watch them go by, a very unique situation indeed. The railroad employees were very friendly and tolerant of people standing along the tracks, keep some distance though and respect the railroads right-of-way.
Access to Baxter, Debsconeag and Katahdin Woods and Waters is about as good as you can have in this area (without pitching a tent at a local campground), all are less than an hour away.
If I had to list a complaint the best I could do is that the dryer was a little slow, a truly minor thing that was easy to plan around and would not discourage me from coming back here.
We spent far more time outside than inside but truly enjoyed our time in this home which was fun to explore. The Wizard Kim, as we called him, has put together a great vacation spot for those seeking time in inland Maine.
FYI, we had a minor check-in snafu that Kim was quick to rectify and though we never needed assistance again during our stay I'm sure by the initial responses that Kim would have been quick to assist us, my family thanks you.
Close to hiking, rafting and outdoor adventure
The property is conveniently located so you can choose and enjoy any outdoor activity you like. The sunsets from the house looking across the lake with mountains in the background are breathtaking.
Beautiful house and views
Beautiful views of the lake and mountains! The house has a unique layout and decor with so many nooks to explore. The train did come through every night, but it's short. Some of us woke up with it, and some slept through.
This property is 10 miles from Mt. Katahdin and Baxter State Park.
Golf: very nice 9 hole golf course in town
