Floor in main area was not swept and 2 shower curtains were moldy . I called and someone brought 2 new in-the-packages curtains and left them on the outside step. We installed them. The semi- ocean view was a joke, but we could hear the ocean early morning. The rest of the house was great and the short walk to the beach was too. We have used Brindley in prior years and had linens & towels at no charge and the 5 bedroom house was cheaper.

Plenty of room, a bit outdated and not sure it was even cleaned before we arrived

This was our very first vacation to NC. We plan on making it an annual vacation for our granddaughters and family. Upon arrival (after a 10 hr drive) we wanted nothing more then to unload our vehicles and relax But upon arrival, we found ourselves running out to the store for cleaning supplies to clean Before we could even take our personals in the house!! There were dead bugs on steps and in 2 of the bathrooms, there was used soap left in the showers, sand all over the floors, ants all over the kitchen counters, hair and toothpaste in the bathroom sinks, stains in the toilets (as if they haven’t been scrubbed in a month), one roll of toilet paper and a roll of paper towels were our ‘welcome gift’, smoke detectors had dead batteries and some had no batteries and they kept beeping all night! Our experience at this particular location was not at all what we expected and needless to say we will not ever stay here again!! I emailed the property manager and left them know how disappointed we all were but heard Nothing back from them, instead they sent a maintenance man the next day (never pre-warned or notified us) and he replaced smoke detectors throughout the house. He also fixed the broken pool gate that we couldn’t get closed and I was not happy with that either as we had a 3 and 4 year old with us and the last thing we needed was little ones to gain access to the pool and something happen!! This was by far not a good experience house-wise but the rest of our trip was wonderful and we loved the beach and the pool.

[EDIT, August 2022] Please note that this home has new ownership, and the new owner has made a multitude of updates to the home including fresh interior and exterior paint, new carpet, new lighting, new furniture, new mattresses, and bedding. The kitchen includes a new refrigerator, new microwave, new stove, coffee bar, new dinnerware, cookware, bakeware, and silverware. The pool has also been converted to a saltwater pool. It is also worth noting that although the early months of the global pandemic were extremely challenging for everyone, Surf or Sound Realty made significant efforts and investments in our customer service, housekeeping, and maintenance teams. As a result of these efforts and investments, Surf or Sound Realty has received 13 times as many 5-star Google reviews in 2022 as our nearest competitor. (original response:) Hi Sue, Please accept our sincere apologies for the unacceptable condition of the home you rented from us. During the pandemic, our phone lines and inboxes have, at times, been overwhelmed by Covid-related inquiries and concerns, which has led to cleaning and maintenance gaps than are not at all typical for our generally very professional teams. We are all working hard to catch up, reply to every message, and resolve all issues. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the beach and the pool.

Very pleasant

The overall stay from beginning to end was nice. The house was as described and had plenty of room for 10 of us. The pool, hot tub and decks were especially fun to use. The only issue we experience was the freezer had ice buildup, which prevented the ability to make ice and caused constant leaking onto the kitchen floor for the entire week.

Great week!

We have a great week here! Upon arriving, the top floor air conditioner was broken. It took until the next day to fix it. The heat wasn’t unbearable, but not pleasant. During the stay, the internet and cable was very spotty. However, the house and OBX was perfect!
