About this property

1939 Vintage House~Linfield/Historic Downtown, Outdoor Fireplace, Dog-Friendly

The "1939 Vintage House" was originally built by a Linfield professor in 1939 with careful thought and architectural elegance of its era. The "1939" plaque still remains as all of its initial period details: high ceilings outlined with cove trim, brushed pendant lights, original wood floors, arched doorways, glass knobs, built-ins, and antique dust covers line the stairway. Relax in comfort and convenience: walk minutes to Linfield or 5 blocks to McMinnville's Famous 3rd St.

This home provides a variety of spaces for everyone to relax, unwind and enjoy each others company.

Main Floor: The main floor is the main living area with the living room, kitchen, dining room, two bedrooms, and one full bathroom in the hallway for everyone to use. The kitchen picture window and backdoor look out and give access to the backyard covered patio and BBQ area. This provides a great connection between all parties, either indoors or outdoors.

Upstairs: The upstairs has an office work area on the landing, a bedroom, and a full bathroom for everyone to use.

Finished Basement: The finished basement with high ceilings lives large, with a great room set up with games, puzzles (located in a basket near the fireplace), a foosball table, and a giant chalkboard to explore your creative side. The laundry room is also in the basement with a washer/dryer, iron & ironing board.

Backyard: The fully fenced, private backyard is its own sanctuary. It has a covered patio surrounded by lush bamboo, BBQ, twinkle lights, and a brick fireplace so that you can cook and enjoy your evenings outside anytime.

Great Location

We enjoyed our stay at the Vintage home. It was a beautiful, comfortable home that was in walking distance to everything we needed. The outdoor patio area was a nice place to relax with a glass of wine.

Fabulous VRBO!!

This is a lovely home, beautifully maintained close to downtown. The check in process was a breeze, the owners were very kind and accomodating. Oodles of blankets and pillows in the bedrooms, and the house was spotless. Treat yourself to a stay in this outstanding property.

Perfect house for a wine weekend or Linfield football weekend.

We celebrated my sisters birthday with a wine and football weekend. This is the perfect location to accomplish both things! Great proximity to Linfield and all of our favorite wineries.

Great House

The house was exactly what we needed. It was comfortable and had everything you could want. The location was perfect for visiting wineries, shopping, traveling to the coast and the restaurants in McMinnville were very good.

Enjoyable Stay

We really enjoyed our stay at the 1939 Vintage House. As advertised, it was clean, comfortable, in a quiet neighborhood, and an easy walk to the many restaurants and wine tasting rooms in town. Unfortunately, rainy weather kept us from enjoying the cool patio and fireplace. We would definitely recommend it.

McMinnville Winery Visit

The 1938 Vintage House was a great base for visiting wineries in the Willamette Valley. It was also conveniently located within 10 minutes walking distance from the McMinnville main street area. Very comfortable and great for groups of friends.

Great Location for wine week

This home was a good fit for our stay in Willamette Valley. Probably more room than we needed for 3 of us, and we didn’t spend a lot of time at the home except to sleep but it seemed to have everything we needed. Like any older home it has its quirks and creaks, but overall it was a good stop. Walkability to downtown was the best and walks and runs thru the university were beautiful. Two blocks from the farmer’s market and central to a lot of wineries made it nice as well.

Photos oversell this home.

Clean. If you don’t like a lot of stairs, I wouldn’t suggest this home. Downstairs area is typical musty basement converted. Not very comfortable. Lots of road noise directly behind this home. Very busy avenue. Not the worst we’ve stayed in but we wouldn’t stay again.

Charming 1939 House within walking distance to downtown.

Charming 1939 property. Yes, the upstairs floorboards squeak. So plan accordingly when placing people in the upstairs bedroom. The property has all the accommodations you need. The outdoor covered patio with fireplace is especially charming. You are walking distance to the downtown restaurants, shops & wine tasting. There is a great Mexican Grocery Store (El Rancho) very close to the house (the grilled chicken combo on weekends is fantastic). Anita & Danna are very responsive to any of your questions / requests!

I cannot recommend this home enough! I have probably stayed at over 25 VRBO properties over the last 25 years, and this was the best appointed and most comfortable one to date. The kitchen is fully stocked, the bedding and extra linens are so comfy, the bath towels were luxurious and abundant, the extra paper goods were very appreciated, and the outdoor fireplace was so inviting. We really appreciated the host's very clear and detailed instructions for everything. The home is in a cute residential neighborhood a little over a half mile from the super quaint downtown center and just around the corner from a Walgreens. During our walk to downtown, we passed beautiful apple trees and breathtaking fall foliage. I can go on and on. This was the PERFECT base for two couples to spend four nights while wine tasting and exploring Willamette Valley. My only complaint is that the beautiful wooden floors creaked during early morning potty breaks, but that's part of the home's charm and can't be helped. It's a great house!!!

lovely house close to town with great amenities

we were all impressed with the house. It was a lovely older property with original details and modern updates. it was well supplied with everything in the kitchen, even had olive oil. it was spacious for 4 adults and also nice to have some outside private space. The basement would be a bonus if you have kids.

Wonderful House

House is beautiful and perfect and beds were very comfortable. I appreciate the extra touches such as high quality linens and towels that smell fresh! Kitchen was well stocked for our holiday cooking. Loved the short walk to 3rd street! Like many small towns on the west coast - McMinnville has a homelessness problem and the property’s close proximity to downtown places it very close to those issues. There were some characters in the neighborhood but we did not experience crime.

About the host

Hosted by Wine Country Properties

Host profile image
She had the Wine Country Farmhouse, and he had the Walter Link House, which is how Anita and Larry met. Well.... it was at the UFO Festival, but that's another story. The result was another vacation rental, and now another one along the way. Both are natives who grew up surrounded by the wine industry. As a kid, Anita picked grapes during harvest on one of the first vineyards in Dundee. Larry was raised on a farm in what is now the McMinnville AVA. Like Salmon, they returned after exploring the world to pursue their passion in their hometown: preserving historic properties and sharing Oregon Wine Country with the world. By joining forces - Anita's background in real estate and Larry's in construction, they have created a solid team in the growing family of Wine Country Properties.

Why they chose this property

The home sits on a quiet street, surrounded by historic homes. It's a quick walk to Linfield University and a leisurely 5 block stroll to McMinnville's Famous Third Street. On Thursdays, May through October, you'll run into the Farmer's Market on your way to Third Street.

What makes this property unique

The "1939 Vintage House" was originally built by a Linfield professor in 1939 with careful thought and architectural elegance of its era. The "1939" plaque remains as its initial period details. With its perfect location between Linfield University and McMinnville's Famous Third Street, this makes an excellent getaway for anyone who wants to explore Oregon Wine Country.
