The Lake House
Nestled in its own world, the Lake House rests within Yamhill County's magnificent wine country. It is the perfect get-a-way retreat.
There are no words or pictures that can adequately describe the serene environment. With 3.5 acres of playing ground, a small lake, three large bedrooms, two full baths and two half baths, it can house up to three couples.
If you long for a bit of activity in between bouts of relaxation, the Lake House is located fifteen minutes from Carlton's wine tasting 'district' and fabulous eateries. The tasting rooms in Carlton provide an exceptional experience from those who prefer sweet whites to Oregon's sought after Pinot Noirs to the rich dark reds produced from the grapes of Southern Oregon. It's all there.
The house is fully furnished and includes a well equipped kitchen. All you need to do is the grocery shopping. Whether it's this weekend or any other vacation you are planning, I hope you consider The Lake House for its ideal location in Oregon's rural Yamhill County.

This is truly a beautiful spot and a home that has been well-maintained. Our family enjoyed this place! As many other have noted, it is the perfect retreat after a big day of wine tasting. We would love to come back during summer to enjoy the outdoor patio. Thank you for the hospitality.
We loved our stay at the Lake House. It was a beautiful retreat from our normal lives and Loni the owner was very helpful in her instructions. Would highly recommend.
Three couples all celebrating birthdays and anniversary's stayed here to explore the wineries and the coast of Oregon. The house was picturesque! Very clean and comfortable and the house was stocked with anything you can think of from paper products to toiletries. We were extremely close to wineries and the coast was about an hour and a half away. The owners were very accommodating when we had a problem with the garage keypad and they were willing to come out and fix it asap!
LOVED our stay at The Lake House in mid-July! Very charming house and we loved the remote location...and the deck near the lake. Will definitely recommend this property to our many friends who we direct to vacations in the Oregon wine country.
Only two concerns...one minor, and the other, not so minor.
The minor concern...it would be nice to have hooks on the back of all of the bedroom doors so guests might hang shower towels in their rooms. Can't speak to the other rooms, but the smallest bedroom did not have any towel hooks. When all of the shower towels are white, hanging all of the towels in the bathroom can be a bit confusing!
As for the other concern...we will certainly be back if we travel with one other couple...but not if we travel with two other couples. As with many VRBO houses, the bedrooms are not sized equally. In the case of the Lake House, the master bedroom was very large (and has a separate sitting room), the 2nd bedroom is medium sized, and the third bedroom is quite small...barely large enough for my wife and I and two suitcases. Given this disparity in room sizes, obviously some guests will feel slighted with their accommodations. There is nothing you can do about this now that the house has been built, but I point this out just to advise that this was a point of contention with our group, and may be with others as well. If we return with just one other couple, bedroom sizing won't be a problem as both the master bedroom and the 2nd bedroom are roomy and spacious. But a third couple would undoubtedly feel shortchanged.
Other than that, the house was marvelous...many thanks, Loni!
Everything in- and outside the house was clean and perfectly functioning. The location is quiet, the vineries in the region - and that was what we came for - make excellent wines, the weather gods were good-humoured, the people we met were very pleasant, the information provided was accurate and covering all needs,... what else could we wish? ..., probably only that Europe was not so far away for us to come more often
My father and I stayed here for a father/daughter plus spouses weekend. We had a lovely time! We were greeted by a welcoming card and bottle of local sparkling wine from the owner which was such a delight to find. The house was well decorated and comfortable place to stay with plenty of room for the 4 of us. The listing was accurate with the amenities included and was very clean. There was a huge jacuzzi tub overlooking the pond which was home to a local bullfrog that lulled us to sleep each night! We went to local wineries which were a hop, skip and a jump away along with wonderful restaurants. Bistro Maison in Mcminnville was one of our favorites. If you're looking for a place to stay off the beaten path but close to towns, the Lake House is it!
The Lake House is truly in it's own private world, but within 15 miles you can access everything that Yamhill County has to offer. Including the Evergreen Aviation Museum & OmniMax in McMinnville, hundreds of wineries and tasting rooms throughout the area, exceptional restaurants of every cuisine and your own private piece of Oregon beauty.
