Great Location, Great Price!!

  • 4 of 5

This place was perfect for our small family of 3!

I have to admit that we usually pay much more for a condo during our annual beach weekend, so we are used to a certain standard as far as a modern building, condo size, beachfront, etc....but now that I've stayed here, I'm asking myself, "Why would I pay more?".

Upon our arrival, I was happy with the covered parking spot that we had. We easily brought our bags up to our floor, none of the usual trudging through a huge parking deck to get to an elevator, than trudging through a huge reception area to get to another elevator.

When we first walked through the door, I was a little thrown off because the entryway is the bedroom. I didn't like that at first, it just felt weird. But I got used to it. I also didn't like that the bedroom window was covered by a large piece of cool art. Not having a window made the room feel somewhat claustrophobic to me, but I got used to that as well.

Making our way thru the rest of the condo, I thought it was small, but fabulous. The bathroom was good sized and updated enough, the kitchen and living room combo was beautiful, and felt just like home!

The view has sadly been obstructed by another condo across the street, but I still thought the view was pretty. I could still see some waves, and I had the treat of waking up early one morning to a storm rolling in off the water. I thought the contrast of the lighted strip of buildings against the backdrop of those dark, low-lying clouds was spectacular. The beach access still remains, and it was very convenient.

The condo was stocked with everything you might need, extra towels, blankets, pillows, appliances, dishes. Roger hasn't missed a thing. It really did feel like home, away from home. The only thing I missed was a laundry closet, but I realized after a few days that there was a laundry on the ground level, so that was cool. I also appreciated the outdoor showers for rinsing off after a day of beach play, and the swings, which were nice to sit in and watch the rain.

As you can tell, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The only thing I regretted was not having access to a pool, but even on the day it rained, we had a blast in the gulf.

In closing, if you are the kind of person who has to have a fair amount of luxury, this isn't the place for you. But if you are ok with staying in an older place, and have a smaller group (I would say no more than 4), you might just fall in love with this place. I did!

Perfect Condo

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect condo for our family vacation. It's across the street from beach access and very close to the downtown area. It was very quiet and peaceful. The owner was very helpful and nice. I highly recommend this condo to anyone.

Well priced

  • 4 of 5

My family and I just leave this condo after a five day stay and I was a nice stay. Waffle House.... Not a great smell to walk out to everyday but it's not that bad. The condo was older than most I have stayed in but it was very reasonable priced. All and all it was great first time experience for my kids and we would stay here again!

appropriately priced

  • 4 of 5

I thought this was a great deal, but hindsight it was just a fair deal. This condo was half the price of most others. While it did seem clean, Gentle wind east is older. I have not been in any other condos in the city to compare, but my wife had. Low popcorn ceilings, heavy spackled walls, scuffed base boards. It looked like this is where hand me down furnishings came to die, the black lounge chair was comfortable, but the leather had peeled off by the head. Once you look past these things, realize your at the beach, and just spent half the price compared to across the street, you can have fun. I thought the location was great, enjoyed the balcony and would consider coming back. I would just know what to expect next time. Advice to future renters: buy a sleep mask, the light from the waffle house is right outside the window. the outdoor shower is broke by the closest stairs, but the one by the other stairs is working.

Great for the Money+ The Ocean Veiw!

  • 4 of 5

My family and I stayed at this condo for a quick get-a-way. It was a great price and was directly across the street from the beach. We could walk to many places and there was a crosswalk beside the condo. The only negative that we could find was no wifi or internet. The room was very clean and was exactly what we needed.

Baseball family visiting Gulf shores and little league world series

  • 4 of 5

This unit was very clean and updated the outside could use a little upgrade but dont let the outside fool you. The owner was very helpful and caring wanted to make sure I was happy and I was the during the whole experience. If I ever end up in Gulf shores again I will stay at Gentle winds Unit A5 again. We ate out every night and If I had to pick Creaco's Pizza was the best The Hang out was fun but very expensive for the small portions they served. Ribs and Reds was good but charged my card twice for a $80 dollar meal. I compared my condo to the Sea Winds and I have to say after visiting their rooms mine was very nice for the price. I am a happy traveler
