About Laurie

This is our family (in 2007); Rob (dad), Laurie (mom), Alison , Reid and Elizabeth. Not pictured; 'Roxie' and 'Schatten' our German Shepherds.

We purchased Memory Lane Lodge after Rob's emergency brain surgery in Dec. 2005. We decided to unload our investement property in Monroe, WA and invest in some great family memories! And we have:)

Laurie purchased this house in 2007

Why Laurie chose North Central Cascades

We have always loved the Leavenworth area because it offers warm, dry summers and plenty of snow in the winter. We wanted to be able to have the kids ski on Friday nights and then drive just a short distance (20 min.) to 'home' and relax for the weekend. And that we've done! However, now that soccer/baseball/softball/football have consumed our weekends, we decided to allow selected guests to stay at our vacation home to enjoy the beauty that Central Washington has to offer with all the comforts of home!

What makes this house unique

In the summer, we like to play in Lake Wenatchee, hike the many trails (easy enough even for our littlest), and float the river. In the winter we downshill ski Stevens Pass and cross-country ski Lake Wenatchee. We relax in front of the fire place watching movies together and just simply 'chill out!' We often invite friends over (there's so much space!) to hang out, play cards, unwind in the hot tub, roast s'mores and play in the snow. There's so much to do or do nothing at all!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Just wanted to leave you a note of thanks and to let you know how much we enjoyed your home. It really felt like a home and not just a vacation rental. I could feel the love of your family with all the special touches throughout the house. A fantastic family trip!

Aloha, Yvonne

40th Birthday Bash!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful time at the cabin! It had perfect amount of space for us and the hot tub was fantastic! It was great being in the peaceful setting, and still being close to town! There were 8 of us women there for a friend's 40th Birthday and we all said we wanted to come back and bring our families next time! Neighborhood was friendly, quiet, and just what we wanted! Thank you for all the inclusions in the cabin too, utensils, towels, blankets, pillows, COFFEE (that was a big bonus!), and instructions on how to use things and check out process! It was all super easy! The only problem we had was with the washing machine, but maintenance came out right away and was very nice! We really appreciated getting a hold of someone right away! Thank you for such a great memory making weekend!

Lovely long weekend getaway.

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Memory Lodge. The owners have thought of so many wonderful amenities which made our visit very comfortable. There is a lot of room to spread out and a great selection of activiites to keep the whole family busy. The hot tub and fire pit were big hits!

Excellent summer location close to the National Park Recreation Area

  • 3 of 5

We had a wonderful time at this property. While it says it can sleep 14, young children are not safe in the loft area, which eliminated a queen and full size bed as sleeping options for our group. Even with the loft area blocked off, we had a great amount of space and very comfortable accommodations. The home is very conveniently located if you are planning to go to Lake Wenatchee, and the hot tub was a nice relaxing option at the end of the day. There were plenty of games and space for the older children - they made the lower level their area and were content the entire stay. There were plenty of towels and additional bedding. The kitchen was not as well stocked as some others we have rented, but all of the basic needs were more than met. I would have given 4 stars, but I think our stay may have come just prior to a much needed deep cleaning. The cleaning staff that left as we were arriving did not seem to have cleaned the upholstery which was in need of a good steaming (and hair removal) Overall, it was a beautiful home, well stocked, and conveniently located.

The property is in excellent condition, well stocked, and the owner is very accomodating

  • 5 of 5

Our stay here was convenient and delightful. The owner does a great job explaining how to use the property and setting fair expectations. It's clean, there are plenty of extra supplies like towels, and everything is in great working order. The long kitchen table is fantastic for group meals, easily seating 12 people. Clean up in a cinch. Our group loved it.

Not Guest Ready

  • 2 of 5

Upon arrival it appeared that the home had not been prepared for our arrival. All the beds were stripped and the dirty sheets piled in front of the washer. Wet towels in the washer. The dishes were dirty in the dishwasher, we were planning on eating dinner as a family, but had to wait for the dishwasher to run because there wasn't any regular dish soap available, and all the silverware was in the dishwasher, unclean. The coffee maker was also hadn't been cleaned and still had old filter and grounds. The garbage and recycle were full. The lower floor smelled strongly of mold and even though we opened Windows to air out the home, family members had allergic reactions. The patio was so covered with debris we felt we couldn't use it. The interior carpet looked as though it needed a thorough cleaning. Our family has utilized VBRO many times, this home cost us the most ever for a weekend, and it was the most disappointing. Needs several items restocked. This is one home we would not recommend based on prior experiences. We feel at a minimum our cleaning deposit should be refunded, if not more.
