HACIENDA VISTA LEJOS Tucson, Arizona.

This charming vintage adobe house is located in the lush desert foothills area of Tucson, Arizona. Enjoy the feel of a small hacienda and old Tucson in a privately located house on one acre of beautiful natural desert. Awash with light, the large windows in the living room provide birding and wildlife viewing even from indoors!! The house was designed by architect Lewis Hall 1956, who also designed well known Tucson landmarks, including the Thono Chul Tea House and Anthony's Restaurant.

You will find the Mexican courtyard style warm and inviting with lovely views from all the rooms, and every bedroom opens to the patio and pool. Awake to the sunrise over the Catalina Mountains from your bedroom!! The beautiful screened Arizona room with ornate ironwork provides extra dining space. You can enjoy the views from either the front patio or poolside patio. The 1800 square foot single level house has high living/dining room ceilings and saltillo tile floors throughout. Enjoy cozy winter evenings by the large fireplace. The house is tastefully and artistically furnished including original artwork. The deep 16 by 34 foot oval pool is great for swimming in the summer and provides a lovely oasis with palm trees and vines. The poolside patio is equipped with a grill and chimnea. The large kitchen is fully equipped and has a Mexican hand carved center island and plenty of cupboard space.

Down comforters, extra linens and everything you need is provided for the bedrooms. The large master bedroom has a ceiling fan, two closets and a private vintage bathroom with a large shower and tile bench. The master bedroom has a queen bed; two twins and another queen are in the other bedrooms. The second bath has a shower and full-size tub.

Other amenities include a TV/ VCR, CD player in the living room and TV in the master bedroom with basic cable TV, two car garage, washer, dryer, air conditioning, and central heating.

The house has the feel of being situated in the quiet countryside with beautiful desert and mountain views. Yet it is minutes away from all the city conveniences. Less than five minutes away is Tohono Chul Botanical Garden and Cultural Center, hosting birding, galleries, concerts and other cultural events. Casas Adobes center is minutes away with shopping, post office and fine dining. Foothills Mall, with theater, bookstores and shopping is only one mile. It is close to Tucson National Golf Course, Pima Canyon trailheads, and Catalina State Park, with easy access to Saguaro Park West and the world famous outdoor Desert Museum, Old Tucson, Ventana Golf Course and other area courses, and Sabino Canyon. Downtown Tucson and the University are about 10 miles where you can visit the fabulous Tucson Museum of Modern Art, many galleries, and the artist’s studio warehouse area. The museum offers guided tours through the historic district and barrios. Tucson’s Medicine Man Gallery hosts the largest collection of Maynard Dixon’s paintings and the at the University is the Center for Creative Photography that houses the Ansel Adams Collection of prints and negatives, as well as other contemporary collections and exhibits. The Northwest Medical Center is ½ mile away.

From the house you can walk to the neighborhood Mexican Restaurant or through the beautiful natural lush desert washes. This is a wonderful location for the perfect combination of nature and city. Coyotes, jackrabbits, woodpeckers, and other wildlife are abundant and frequent the yard. Perfect for Birders, Artists, Writers, and outdoor lovers!

Great Home and location

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I had a great time at this home provided by Bonnie. The location was great. It was a couple miles from the mall and grocery stores. 3 miles from I10 which gets you to downtown Tucson and over to Phoenix and to all the National Parks and museums. The location was quiet and in a neighborhood you can walk around in and enjoy the wildlife. Was able to see some of the coyotes and lynx. The backyard provided even more area to relax. There was a path back thru the yard that lead to a table and chairs you could then see the mountains and watch the sunset. We stayed for the month of March and when we go back to Tucson we would stay again.

Enjoyable Desert Home!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bonnie’s home. The outside and inside of the home have a comfortable/authentic Southwestern feel. The house is located on a large, private piece of property and we enjoyed the desert landscaping in the yard. There are multiple places to sit and read (front patio, pool area, behind the house) and to enjoy the peacefulness and wonderful views. Bonnie was readily available and pleasant to interact with. We would definitely consider staying at her house again. The location is convenient to access points of interest in Tucson.

Our own private resort!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of seven spent a week here for a family reunion and to celebrate our mother's 90th birthday. It was the perfect choice! The neighborhood is quiet and safe. Every morning my sister and I walked through the area and enjoyed the abundant wildlife and gorgeous homes. The road is for residential access so there was very little traffic or noise. Each morning we had breakfast on the patio area next to the pool. It was like being at our own resort! The home is made from gorgeous adobe blocks and has such character. The decor and original artwork made it fell exotic and homey at the same time. We used the pool every day - even my mother lounged on a pool float and soaked in the sun! Although the home is on a secluded road it is convenient to drive to grocery stores, restaurants, and malls within minutes. My husband and I lived in Tucson for almost 20 years and know how rare it is to find a home on a large piece of property that offers privacy but also convenience. The three bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. The weather reached nearly 100 degrees that week but the home stayed cool most of the day with only a few hours of cooler use. We opened the windows at night and it smelled glorious! Bonnie was a gracious and communicative hostess. I typically am wary of any type of internet bookings but she provided all the information I needed to contact her and called both before and after our trip to ensure we were happy. Future trips to Tucson will definitely be planned around Hacienda Vista Lejos' avaialblity.

Magnificent desert retreat!

  • 5 of 5

This was our 3rd stay at Bonnie's magnificent and charming desert retreat in Tucson! The house has everything: gorgeous views, desert landscaping, lovely pool, beautiful & comfortable living spaces, fully-equipped modern kitchen, QUIET off-the-beaten-path setting with close proximity to everything, comfortable beds, and CHARM galore! Bonnie and other artists' work adorns the walls, adding quite a bit of charm and beauty to this cozy yet spacious house. One of the reasons we keep returning is that this fully-equipped house provides all the R&R, peace and serenity we crave when we escape from our hectic daily routines in Washington DC. The property is in pristine condition, immaculate, well maintained. When I retire, I plan to spend more than one week per year here! Bonnie is a very attentive, lovely owner.

Wonderful home

  • 5 of 5

My husband, adult daughter and I had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home in Tucson. It has been lovingly decorated with great attention to detail and includes original art work by the artist/owner (and her mother). The house was luxurious, immaculate and well equipped. While very conveniently located, you feel as if you are out in the desert. We even saw a parade of coyotes from the living room window. There are only a few houses on the street and you can peacefully walk through the local arroyos. Or, you can lounge in the enclosed patio and soak in the sun. We will happily return.

desert hacienda

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have rented this house in Tucson for several winters. We keep going back because it is such a welcoming, comfortable home. The layout is great for entertaining; the beds are comfortable, it's clean and well maintained, and the courtyard with pool and BBQ is a wonderful place to relax in the sunshine. It's in a great location, convenient to downtown as well as to parks nearby. We'll be returning again this coming winter and always look forward to it.
